We moved and I wish I had thought ahead to boxing & moving plants, instead I left them unpacked & we took a special trip with our plants in a rental car with our cats & it was like a mini jungle in the back. Someone actually stopped in the street as we were loading in to take a picture of our open trunk with all the plants 😂
😂😂😂🤣🤣sorry that was me💀j/k no but I'm in a bit of a pickle myself. This moving company doesn't transport live plant the customer service lady said. 💀😭 So I have to sneak it inside of a box. 😭😂😂With some blankets for protection. 🤣
when I moved my plants from the uk back to the netherlands I took cardboard squares the size of the box and cut a hole in it big enough for the pot to sit in, that way the plant couldn't move inside the box it was in. Granted I had less than 10 plants to move at the time, but they all survived the trip!
I'm in the middle of a 1500 mile move and could have really used this before. Next time can you let me dictate your content schedule? K thx. JK. You are the best and literally always bring a smile to my face.
I have been watching your stories, I can't believe your cat naps on the road. 😂 My cats were meowing the entire train ride to Lille, and those idiots were in 1st class because there was a discount fare, too. So ungrateful. I hope your move is going well, that everything goes smoothly.
Cool tips! Another cheap advice would be to use kitchen paper. Crumple it, and place between plants and on top of plants. It will provide some nice temperature isolation. Also, if you have plants, like ferns who want nice humidity, you can use the above said kitchen paper, crumple, and lightly spray with water. Then you can place the plantsin nice trash bags or any bags and transport them. Or boxes if your wallet is thicker or if you work in a place where you have access to lots of boxes. Like a storage or a shop. You can also combine boxes and trashbags. Put the plants in boxes, isolate them with paper and then just stick tape a bag on top of the box. These are all very cheap tips and are great if you live in a cold climate with lots of tropical plants :)

When you are having a a morning of my kids screaming, throwing their breakfast everywhere, dogs threw up in the house and your kids just gave you a big hug but now you are wondering why their hands smell like poop kinda morning and about to have a nervous meltdown...then you see that your favorite you tuber just uploaded a new video 🙌🏻😭 needed this breath of fresh air so bad! I'm watching this during the quarantine era of 2020 and my family is pretty stressed with moving right now. For me, part of the stress was thinking of how to move my small plant collection, but your demonstrations were so helpful! I also haven't seen my theater friends since mid-march. Your theater kid energy is so comforting and uplifting. Thanks for being so fun!!

😭 moving plants is stressful. look how cute your tiny plants are! love your makeup puff tip to protect the tiny 🌿. i'm still roadtripping with my hubby through usa in rv, so every month i'm repacking up my 1OO plants. i use storage bins from target & recycle the bottom portion of water bottle boxes, it's great so leaves don't get disturbed while our RV is driving off. it's always interesting to see the diff ways everyone packs up plants, so thnx for sharing your vid! congrats again on your move, hope you finally get to relax after all the hard work 🚎💕🇺🇸
before I bought my house, I used to move almost every year for no particular reasons and I always had lots of plants, I would transport them by themselves. I like the makeup pad idea, that’s great thinking 💕💕
Another tip if you are water propagating, Throw your cuttings in Tupperware half full of water or lined with wet paper towels to keep your baby roots moist!
I asked about this a while back. I’m so bummed this didn’t come sooner.. I had a 3 day drive.... I lost 8 plants. And currently have 3 in critical care.. I cried profusely! And I’m still not over it.

Moving is always stressful, but the more alive beings you add the worse it becomes, for that very reason is most important to know how and when to relax and move/act slowly.
I searched moving plants to a new house in winter and yours was the only one that I hadn't seen and was pertinent...the others were about moving plants indoors for winter. I am a nervous wreck about moving my 70+ tropical plants in late December or January. I was heartened to hear you only lost two. I hope they all survive but your two or Becca de la plants several got smooshed, only one died, at least lets me know that with care taken I can pull this off with minimal casualties. I also have a van to move most of my med-small plants. I have a Night-Blooming Cereus (E. Oxypetulum) on a 6 Ft Pole. A lot of the leaves broke off getting this monster on the pole and it took most of the summer to rebound so I hate to loose more leaves or suffer cold damage. I am hoping for one of Kentucky's notorious warm spells in winter for move week...if I can only learn to control weather in 3 weeks or less. Anyway, I guess this is the long story to thank-you for your content and say that I enjoy your humor and think I will have to take in some more of your videos soon.

Yay new Betsy video! This is just what my day needed! :) Since your last YT upload, I have gotten my first begonia. It's a rex begonia, and I think it looks like a Jurassic Watermelon, though it wasn't labeled. It's already had three new baby leaves sprout up, and it's stunning and shiny and beautiful and I love it. Totally understand your begonia love. It's currently thriving in the midwest heat and humidity, I hope I can keep it alive come fall.

Mmmm I have five plants I need to move, but they are in heavy terracotta pots. I actually thought watering would be better because they wouldn't get pushed around as much. The weight would kinda hold it in place? Do you have any recommendations for terracotta plants?
Do you have any suggestions for the cotton pad trick for slightly bigger plants? Anything we could use if the plant is too big for the cotton pad to cover but we’re worried about soil spilling out? I’m using a delivery company as that’s my only option & not sure how gentle they’ll be!
