  • Plato's dialogue called the Apology is a report of Socrates's speech in his defense, at his trial for impiety. It's not an apology in the modern sense of that word, but rather a robust argument in support of his innocence, and in support of the claim that he was not a criminal but a benefactor of the city of Athens and the people in it. Be sure to watch Episode 7, which presents Plato's Euthyphro, and which presents events that come chronologically before the events described in the Apology.
