Wow so many negative comments on this video! Come on guys show a little respect for someone teaching you something new. Thanks for posting it Bret. Love the series.
Because I see self-proclaimed "real men" being assholes, let me suggest a couple traits which I believe to be manly. 1. Real men drink whatever they please. 2. Real men say thank you when a person takes his or her time to teach them something, rather than being disrespectful to that person. Thanks for the video.
Women drink and eat whatever they please, Men must think before any intake. You wouldnt put sugar in your engine tank, same goes for man's guts. You, and men like you, have a balance of yang and yin energy, and possibly estrogen dominant, not every moment calls for politeness and kindness, sometimes a bold deed or restriction is required.
Prince Mauhdi III Maybe so, but what you're suggesting is absurd. Women can drink whatever they like because their hormones allow them the freedom, whereas men can only consume choice beverages or fear the wrath of their bodies' hormonal responses? The similarities between the sexes far outweigh the differences, this case included.
Great video!! A couple of questions... how can you tell when a wine is going bad? and what is the proper "etiquette" on returning wine in a restaurant (without looking like a doucheb)? Thanks and keep up the good work
Inspecting/sampling a first glass of wine when presented by waiter. I've witnessed some acting as if they're tasting the wine to their liking rather than simply verifying that the wine hasn't gone off. I've always been taught that rejecting a valid wine for a different taste expectation is rather inappropriate, if not crude. Do you have a thought on this?
I've been getting into wine lately and it really is an interesting hobby. I'm a noob so I probably dont appreciate an expensive bottle as much as a experienced person would. I am drinking chateau pavie 1971 as I'm typing this. I also have a bottle of chateau latour 1946 and chateau latour 1961 and I feel like its wasted on me. Oh well. It's made to be enjoyed and I'm enjoying it. Edit: I'm saving the 1961 for a special occasion. Who knows, maybe I wont even like it. The best part is that at the end of the day, it's just wine.
you can get some really good winces for cheap depending on where you are. if you ever have the chance I highly recommend traveling to Spain. THE BEST wine I have ever had in my life and a good bottle of wine there is 8 dollars a good one here is 25 dollars lol
Hey Brett, I think a good idea for a video would be to explain the importance for men to why they ought to remain manly. I know you kind of brushed over it in a separate video but I think it would be very helpful to others to hear the reasoning out!
I have been to blind tastings where so called wine taster's were remarking on the gustatory hallucinations that they were experiencing. Not much of a consensus on any of the wines presented. I'm not saying that you won't get impressions or that wines won't have an overriding character. A lot of this crap does nothing but make new wine drinkers feel inadequate because they can't taste what has been described. The terminology and methodology need to be explained. Until a nice portion of "tasters" come back down to earth and stop acting like a bunch of snobs (often self delusional) they will not get any respect from the masses. And, we did have wine producers in my family. They too felt that the "tasters" created an atmosphere of intimidation or exclusivity. So, in your effort to bring manliness to the forefront, strip away the illusions, empower men to feel good about drinking wine, and most of all, make it clearly evident that a Man is not swayed by what society thinks is cool but rather his INTEGRITY, being true to his SELF.
DannoCrutch But he is a Sommelier which inherently makes him taste wine a different way. It's not his fault he knows more about wine than other men. He learned just as you and I can learn.

Bomb Tech I do understand that. In fact, I have a close friend who is a Sommelier. I take everything he says quite seriously and, his recommendations are always fantastic. My point is that publications do not "go deep" in explaining "tasting". That some of these flavors may be dominant, some are impressions in undertones, and some are fleeting and do not show up in every sip. I have an Australian wine that smacks of Grapefruit i.e., that is the Dominant flavor. Would a Sommelier taste the same? Would every Sommelier taste the same? From my experience, they don't and a review should state how many tasters and, each ones unique impression.
Great video! Let's take the intimidation factor out of wine! It's too good a thing for men to be scared off by a few snobs. ***** $1 to Art of Manliness please.
just ease your way in to it. white wines are much easier to drink because theyre fruitier and acidic. what you're probably not liking is the tannins in the wine which can be a bit bitter, and give th"dry" feeling that people talk about. a good red wine to start with is pinot noir. it's more acidic and sweet which helps to mask the tannins.
For me dry wine is an acquired taste. At first I didn't like it, after trying different I actually like it now. As for getting into wine drinking in the first place - I didn't drink any alcohol usually, but what got me interested in wines were sweet wines because they actually taste really nice. For me it was "Kagor" - a moldovian I think sweet wine that is usually considered a "church wine". Similar but even more intense in taste and my favorite of all wines are Porto - you should try those.
Suyamu I tried some German wines and I enjoyed zinfandels and some fortified wines and ice wine. I dont care much for alcohol tbh i enjoy my craft beers I dont get drunk anymore I just feel i am missing out sometimes when others talk about wine and i am not sure if they are just faking liking the taste but i sure dont like it more then a good IPA or Stout most other things.
In the United States, it is almost impossible for non-obese men to find dress shirts that fit, off the rack. If you find something that fits in the shoulders, arms and neck, it will always billow at the waist. This gentleman is thin, so anything he buys will billow in the chest and waist.
This guy shows you every CUE that you should look out for but he doesn't explain what those cues MEAN. This is a weak explanation AOM. Please re-do this video.
I think wine experts are ridiculouse, wine testing is all about exaggerating and overanalyzing its taste. I can sitt and talk about how rust on a metal taste the very same way. Just say the wine is good, or not because it has to much peppers or flavours.. That is it
You start with "Real men drink wine" but honestly there was nothing manly in your seven and a half minutes of verbal diarrhea. It was like listening to my grandma banging on about a one thousand piece puzzle!
People were really Intimidated by this guy or tasters like him???? Man this guy just sounded like he was tryna act all high and mighty. Thanks for the video man but ima just stick to getting drunk off cheap wine
Just swirl it around, smell it, look impressed, swish it in your mouth and say complicated words
In a British accent say "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious"

Prince Mauhdi III Women and men have the same digestive tracts.
Just because one has testosterone doesn't mean one must be a jackass.
TheRedWon same digestive tracts, but different hormonal responses to foods and drinks.

I didn't expect to see Gerald here, this is epic
lmao
Nice job Gerald! I appreciate you taking the time to instruct us so as to enjoy wine in a special way!
As an apprentice vintner, I thank you. Customers ask how they’re supposed to taste it but I have a hard time finding the words.

i learned everything except how to actually taste the wine
Same, I even developed a taste for those continental Europe cheeses that are moldy. This is an inverse revelation.
4:10?
Taste receptors are scattered all throughout the tongue, there are no regions for sour, sweet, bitter etcetera
Lol first comment....i really love your chanell and the tips are very usefull...keep on......from greece
LOL. Smells really good actually...
I smell the wine and all I smell is alcohol. Same thing with tasting. All I taste is alcohol. What am I doing wrong?

Nice tip about wine tears!
So how about Georgia wine?

Im 23M and i still have the taste buds of a 15 year old 😅I absolutely hate the taste of any alcohol unless it’s masked by fruity flavors

Isn't wine tasting bullshit? Saw a college humor Adam ruins everything, check it out. Great video as always
wikiwikiwee hahaha it had HUMOR in it so it can't be reputable at all.
There's many studies that show it is kind of bs to the average person.
That moron has been proven false on almost everything he has "ruined"
Make a video about whiskeys: bourbon, scotch, rye, Irish. That's definitely manly info
Cheese Bridge that is also manly info which is for the man cave
he should've sized down when picking this shirt

LMFAO, hope his wine knowledge has improved by now?
Nice to see that he didn't fill the glass right to the rim. I hate it when I see people do that.
Open bottle, pour into any glass, drink it...did you enjoy it or not? Everything else is nonsense and no one can tell you what tastes good.
"Real men drink wine" LOL okay..
NFL fans: "YOu say some?"
Real men drink Whiskey and Rum
Real men drink what the fuck they want
@Seth Belfort lmao you just summed up all the people that judge different alcoholic drinks

apple cider wine tastes like sour apple juice
