It groups the vowels together, making it easier to remember... I'm learning AUSLAN ((Australian sign)), which uses the same alphabet and a number of other signs, and it's honestly so easy to remember and identify them as the vowels ^-^ vowels being in basically every word, grouping them to one basic place helps Also, I learned both BSL and ASL alphabets as a kid, and it's so much easier to understand the BSL alphabet personally
So cool to see you do this. I had a hard of hearing teacher in school when I was a kid, and she taught us a few songs and phrases in BSL. The reason the "g" is two fits stacked is because a lower case g sort of has that shape. My teacher also told me that BSL was actually invented by a hearing person so the reason that the 'H' is that swishing hands together movement is because is kind of makes an "h" sound.
I know both ASL and AUSLAN, it took me so long to keep them separate in my head. "what" is "where" and "where" is "what" after my brain stopped exploding it's not so bad. You Did Great!!!!!!
Arianna Campos same tho 😂😂. Every time I learned a new sign I was like... But why?! Nothing made any sense and now I'll accidentally sign to people that don't know it and I don't even understand why they are confused because the signs seem so simple lmao
this made me laugh so much OMG, and the fact you put one of my favorite people John Oliver and David Tennant in this, just bless. I'm laughing so much also getting educated is really amazing. thank you for making this Andy!!!
This is really nice and you already are so good at trying to sign to BSL alphabet and I appreciate it! It's nice to acknowledge other sign languages around the world, and I've been recently starting to learn ASL, so it's really kind when someone else tries to learn a bit of BSL.
I agree with you on the letters J and Q. It's actually what I expected the ASL letters to be like before I started learning them. I just got the ASL letters memorized and now to me the BSL looks extremely strange, haha. This was really fun to watch. :D
You actually picked up on things really quickly!! Also the vowels are all in a line, that's how its O, and K needs the hooked finger basically upside down against the pointer finger, making a kind of K shape. S is hooking both your pinky fingers together too, but what you did would be understood ^-^ And getting confused how some of the signs were meant to work, that's me with ASL fingerspelling lol... I learned both alphabets as a kid and I can honestly say everything on one hand is almost impossible for me to remember lol... Well done giving things a try!! Also the thumb swiping across your chin was "pleased" as in lovely or happy, and the one similar to thank you is "please" as in "can I please have an apple"... Please actually bends the hand slightly when its brought down, where thank you is the same as ASL
Omg you made laugh so much lol I love it!!! I wouldn’t know my abc in any other sign language. I’m ASL all the way but it’s cool to know there’s so many different languages. ❤️🧡
First off, I know NOTHING about sign language, so this might sound rude and I don't want it to, but I find it adorable as heck how his reaction to learning BSL is sort of my reaction when I was learning French.
The vowels just count across your fingers in BSL. BSL is really theatrical in comparison to ASL because it seems like more words in ASL can be done with one hand and less movement.
Hi Andy, please and thank you are the same sign however thank you is sometimes signed shorter than please. some signs can be different depending on the area your from a bit like ASL.
the British sign language alphabet is very similar to the deaf blind manual alphabet, all of the vowels are the same and m, n, t, and s are exactly the same!

Andy! The vowels are on each finger, a e I o and u. From the thumb to the pinky it makes perfect sense bro
How does that make sense? The other letters are signed to (more or less) look like the written letters. :P

Arianna Campos same tho 😂😂. Every time I learned a new sign I was like... But why?! Nothing made any sense and now I'll accidentally sign to people that don't know it and I don't even understand why they are confused because the signs seem so simple lmao

Automated RUclips subtitles are so messed up...
The whole reason why you did a,e,i,o and u on your fingers is because they're all vowels, a traditional list of letters in the Roman alphabet (:
I hope you do the Pvris cover soon! :)
The vowels just count across your fingers in BSL. BSL is really theatrical in comparison to ASL because it seems like more words in ASL can be done with one hand and less movement.
That expression 😆👌🏻
