      Good work! It would be better if you could try to not use the words "women" and "men" in contexts not inclusive of the trans community. This video and the other about menstruation seems a little too female-centric keeping in mind the other oppressed communities who can relate to the same problem. Thanks!

      Not in India but in the US and UK(first wave of feminism). And we were lucky that women didn't have to fight for it. But it's not like women (urban and rural) don't have to fight gender bias in various forms. Like when you specify a gender for tenant/PG. Gender bias is there, just subtle.

These men may otherwise be very caring, understanding and even be very helpful out of their own good nature. It's like the benevolent autocracy mentality. There are medications for the periods pain. But the medications if taken for prolonged durations can lead to a lot of side effects. So most doctors don't prescribe these medications untill and unless the pain is decapacitating. Till then hot water bags and some simple stretching exercises can do away with most of the pains. There are spinal blocks for labor pain but only if you wanna risk a back pain for the rest of your life. Try cessarian section if you wanna go completely unconcuous but beware of the increased risk of complications too. the normalisation of pain when it comes to women can be so, so very frustrating. they simply say, ‘all women experience this pain, you’re not the only one.’ really? all women experience the same thing as me so i’m not allowed to even state that i’m in pain or seek help for it? what sort of bull crap is that? just because half the population experiences the same thing as you it doesn’t take anything away from your own, personal pain. it definitely doesn’t reduce it either, and yet people always seem to resort to these forms of moral counselling when women talk about pain. not everyone may agree but i find such treatment to be very disrespectful and patronising...

    It's wrong when people say that women's bodies are made to give birth, no, giving birth is another thing that women can do. It's not their duty to give birth. If the fact that women's bodies are made to give birth is true then we can also say that men's bodies are made for homosexual physical relationships. But we don't say that because we understand that it is also something men's bodies can do but may choose not to. So why do we dismiss this idea for women.
    After anesthesia was invented, women giving birth were not allowed to be given anesthesia because the churches said that the pain of labour and childbirth is god punishing them for NOT BEING MEN. That's how horrible things used to be and even now we say that this much pain is normal for women. It is appalling.

    The point is woman's pain are ignored and they are not coming to doctors as much men do. There comes the difficulty of diagnosing it early. The women themselves especially their in laws refuse painkillers during labour but we have to convince them ( a difficult process btw as they start lecturing about their pregnancy)so that we can ease the pregnancy.As for periods pain, pop paracetamol or mephtal when needed ,use hot packs,u need not bear that much pain.every human body perceives pain differently.Tablets are not harmful unless u take it unmonitored.

    you know some women themselves make it worse for other women. I heard one of my relatives say about another relative that she was screaming so loud while giving child birth. according to the lady, she was herself letting others make fun of her by screaming because she herself did not scream while she was in the same process. I mean how can you compare the pain of 2 people and their capacity to tolerate it n how can it be a reason for laughter. I told her the same. So she told me that I was wrong and women should tolerate such pain and not scream and allow other people standing outside to make fun of her.
    see I have heard doctors say that screaming diverts the energy flow. a woman should try to channalise her entire energy towards pushing but I guess that's a different topic. no where near making others laugh on you. such is the mentality of women as well. so I left the conversation there itself.

By the time I was diagnosed I was at stage 4 and guess what, endo is not diagnosed until you undergo surgery. And when they weren't ready to take the blame for the delay, after diagnosis the doctors prescribed pregnancy. When I said pregnancy didn't crack the top 10 of my expectations(also pregnancy doesn't cure endo), my expectations were to be pain-free, I was subject to ridicule, called selfish, judged, and asked, "why don't you want to get pregnant? every woman should experience motherhood." one dr had the nerve to say I was a baby-making machine and I can undergo a complete hysterectomy after I have had one baby. I considered taking holistic treatments and acknowledged I am my own doctor instead of considering fertility treatments only because my doctors wanted to see me pregnant.

    The soundfx is sarcastic yet cute
    the voice modulation is apt.
    Above all....
    the research work behind the script is deep and interesting.
    Each of the above crafts are competing with each other to grab the viewer's attention.
    So... I watched it repeatedly till I could distinguish and enjoy the work of each crew

    Hey I am a medico
    So title should have been why does society dismiss women's pain.
    And not medicine because we have whole separate branch called as gynae for only women.
    It's the society that needs to give some respect for womens pain.

    • @TheAnkita2310
      @TheAnkita2310 4 года назад +3

      Finally some sensible comment. Society is too busy targeting doctors that they do not see or care what actually happens in a hospital. I have never in my career seen a doctor dismissing any pain or symptom based on gender. I have never done that myself. Though I have seen malingering patients to be more commonly females, it also occurs in males.

    • @shivanisamyal3143
      @shivanisamyal3143 4 года назад +5

      If they are targeting medical science so its not about the docters obviously.
      Like she said medical science itself is creation of human beings. So such things happened in early days when the Idea was new and still it happens.
      The way you said it seems like medical science is something beyond imagination n they can't be wrong but in reality they r also Humans at that time they were only men.

    • @shivanisamyal3143
      @shivanisamyal3143 4 года назад +3

      Btw that docters are also part of the society. Being a professional in some field doesn't change the thing that you are human after all n you have personal views on everything. Their personal opinions whill always affect thier work and profession.

  • @sohiniisanyal7326
    @sohiniisanyal7326 4 года назад +3

    Now there are a lot of overlapping things told here. If I may dissect them one by one.
    1.Conversion Disorder is a real thing , please do read about that. The term hysteria is not in use any more.
    2. You just cannot deny the fact that distribution of incidence of diseases differ in different populations with respect to sex, race or lifestyle.
    3. It is absolutely true that gender discrimination is a part of maybe not all but many researches and very much race discrimination also.
    4. Endometriosis has only one definitive diagnosis that is laparoscopy,hence the delay. To have a balanced view you should see other diseases predominant in men which are difficult to diagnose.
    5. By seeing the video I'm convinced more that the most of the idea of medical science laymen have is from movies and songs. I've never faced any doctor who has said me don't take medicine for pain. I've seen non medical persons do that.
