Were you a DS-1 or an MT-2 kid?
One really followed t'other. DReams of being Joe Satch replaced by the desire to shred ear drums with a 6 string-ed Dimebag chainsaw took over. C'mon old Valvestate... lets go!
I had a DS-2 because it said Turbo on it.
DS-1.... 'cause I'm so old BOSS hadn't made any others yet, lol. Had 3 pedals in the entire band: Bass: Chorus. Rhythm: OD-1. Lead: DS-1. May you R.I.P. simpler times, you're missed...
In 1978, when the DS-1 came out, I stopped using the MXR Distortion+. Into the Marshall JMP's of that era, you could really dial in a great sound with the DS-1. Eventually, I would run the DS-1 into an MXR 10 Band EQ, and was able to dial in whatever I needed.
MT-2.
If I could have played like that when I was 14 I would now do something useful with my life and make music.
Note choice for that last bend was particularly funny
I haven't been 14 in a long time. Back then, we were slumming it with DOD pedals, Crate amps, and low end Peavey.
Also, this gentleman does not play like he is 14.
Your lead tone is incredible. What’s your settings for this if you don’t mind me asking ?
still use the DS1 after almost 4 years of playing. The pedal has been wtih me from learning nirvana to Yngwei.
Boss still rules🎉🎉
This pedal or an SD-1 are a Marshall’s best friend.
I had that pedal '85 and also the HM 2 but the DS 1 is much better.
DS-1 was my first pedal when it and the SD-1 were $30 USD new online. Back when a MIM Strat or Tele was $399 and 65 DRRI was 799 USD.
Thinking Back those MIM Fenders were actually $349 USD lol
Awesome playing mate , think we can make you a country blues rocker with that new DiMarzio super distortion filtron pup.. you gotta look up Philip McKnight and decide for yourself .. that pup is pretty convincing so beware mate.. 🌏😺
Funny thing is, the HM-1 was the first pedal I ever tried and I've still never tried a DS-1... 🤣
Sick song
Shit, when I was 14, I was learning the chords to the song Stand By Me. 😂
The gain isn't MAX'ed and I couldn't play like that when I was 14.
You're a Bad Ass Leon Todd 😎🤘
I just bet my facial expressions 😂 were exactly 🤣 the same when I was 14 and used a ds 1 🤣💯
Always preferred the SD-1. DS-1 used to muffle my riffs.
Yeah I am still an SD-1 kid
@@LeonTodd Yeah man. DS-1 good for low end with solo’s but I like the SD-1 on all the time. So I always preferred that
Orange for the win !! 🤘
To be fair, if you're 14 and playing a DS-1 for the first time you're gonna crank the tone control all the way up and then throw it in the bin.
John Frusciante is personally offended
@@martyshwaartz971 The advert in the Sunday Times classifieds is also offended
I think I had that shirt when I was 14, my first boss pedal was a mt-2, I always wanted a ds-1 because I read Joe Satriani used one, but I think his was modded? Back in the day?
When you're 14 and play like a boss!
Kudos on a 100k+ subs mate. And may I say NOT BEFORE F**KING TIME.
Thanks mate!!!
When youtoobers play in front of so many guitars it always makes me know they are really good players.
Insider knowledge - it's actually to make up for our small PP's
Are you saying the DS-1 is bad? I think its a fabulous front of amp pedal
I love it as a thickening agent into a crunchy amp
Back in my day, no 14 y/o could play like that. But we could all build our own BMX bikes and jump them pretty good unless you were a wuss. Teen guitar players were also poor. Played mostly Gorilla and Peavey amps, plastic distortion pedals. I had a Washburn AD2 - black with red/orange knobs. Ran it into a Fender Sidekick 10.
Hell yeah, BMX bandits!
DOD FX86 Heavy Metal pedal…. UGH !!
Someone take his guitars away.
He is having waaaay too much fun.😊
Holeeee sheeeet that riff just Will Smithed my face into next week!
DS-1 first ever pedal, I was 13 😂 ❤
The glory days!!
Tasty as fuck.
Wholly inaccurate for my 14 year old self. That didn't sound like badly played Nirvana riffs at all!
I was 8. DS-1 and a Peavey Predator.
This is so historically inaccurate. No one played this pedal at 14yo with the gain at less than 3 o'clock.
:p
