Our main goal is to get to Lofoten in the Arctic Circle with our van to experience off grid winter van life and all of the challenges that come with it! But in the meantime we're living on the road full time and checking out the best things Sweden has to offer on our road trip up! - We're surviving this winter trip so far no winter storms just yet!
Although we're encountering a lot of snow and sub zero temperatures, this week we try our hand at a polar plunge in an underground Swedish cave - it was FREEZING!
We also take a night off from sleeping in our van and head to the most magical Treehouse in all of the land.

Sweden has blown us away, we only had plans to drive through it to get to Norway as it was the cheapest way!
But it's caught us with both hands and we're taking in all it's goodness!

Lofoten, on the way to Nusfjord there is The Wall, a straight road directed to the mountains in front, epic photospot!! The dragon eye on the beach also nice, not sure how visiblebit is during winter. Near the Dragon Eye was where I got to witness Lady Aurora in september. Fingers crossed for you! Make sure to get the My Aurora forecast app, helped us to find her!! Fingers crossed for you! (Reine, the bridge at Hamnoy and the bridger at Fredvangskrysset are also epic and well known, lots of cool parkups as well! Enjoy!!)
You will need reflector-vests while driving in Norway, if you have car trouble you will need to wear them while outside of Custard. It is smart to get "brodder" ice- picks to wear under your shoes when it is icy. Drive safe

You guys need to get a preheater pronto, starting it when its that cold is like smashing the inside of your engine with sledgehammers youll kill fast and we dont want that cause we're loving this trip. Take it steady
I think this is the most that I've seen Amy smile, and being super in the moment and excited while trying a bunch of new things in a while. It makes me so happy to see with all the problems she's had with her anxiety. I have anxiety too, and being able to just enjoy things sometimes feels like such a gift, and it makes me so so happy to see the excitement on her face.

I suffer with anxiety too. These past 2 years have been the worst it's ever been. And I've felt for her so hard thru all her struggles. I agree with you, being able to enjoy things is a huge gift. She does seem to smile alot more so I hope she is truly enjoying herself right now and getting a break from struggling so much. She truly deserves happiness. She's such a beautiful person. I love them both so much! They really do bring me joy with their videos. 💜💚

It’s a lazy rainy Sunday and sitting here watching your video with coffee in hand (in a cup) is such a lovely moment. You had me laughing out loud more than usual and the sight of that snowy walk and swim in the underground cave compensated nicely for the poo shots. Coming from a youthful in spirit but chronologically 66 year old woman you two are just a joy and so adorable. Been following you for several years and will continue as long as you have a story to tell. As for scary movies, Heredity creeps me out no matter how many times I watch it and for an old movie, Wait Until Dark with Audrey Hepburn (a more suspense than horror) was the first time I screamed out loud in the cinema.
Fatal Attraction..when Glenn close was in the bathtub..I knew it was going to happen.(the bubbles) but when it did I screamed so loud(scardie cat,here) woke up my friends baby. I love these videos..they are really,really good.

Can’t tell you how bad I needed this laugh. We live in our travel trailer full time and just moved down to an area that’s pretty cold so we’ve been going to bed cold, furnace has been finicky, pipes freezing, our door broke. Had been getting so discouraged but thank you for the reminder not everything goes as planned and it’s good to laugh at yourself every now and then 😂

Guys, you need to flare the ends of those copper pipes below the sink. Then slip the hoses back over the flared copper and clamp them. They’ll never come off again. You can get a copper flaring tool off Amazon for like $20.

I love this adventure so much. It captures so much of the beauty and the challenge of living in the colder temperatures. When you get that engine pre-warmer you'll be golden. You'll need to have it plugged in, but those northern places should have you sorted, though I'd get an extension cord too. You're kicking ass!!!
That treehouse is amazing. I don't like saunas because if I get hot like that I will pass out and I will feel like throwing up. I don't even take hot showers, just warm showers.
Get a blanket to go over the engine when not in use. Don't knock it until you try it 😉 Old vehicle use a old fashioned way.
Remember to get a drone license if you fly drone in Sweden or Norway. If your drone is under 250 grams you dont need that license! :)

I'm from Leeds originally but now live in Northern Canada. Whenever it snows here, all the fam back home say it must be so nice and lovely - but as you just experienced sliding on ice, getting stuck, and so on - not so much so hey. Also, loved that you found 3 degrees warm, it is amazing once you have got use to minus 10-20 degrees how warm 0 degrees can be.
HYSTERICAL! What adventures... such a beautiful Country! And you two (three - Custard) are becoming the masters of the "cliffhanger." Absolutely loved this one guys. You look like you are genuinely having the best time. Looks so so magical in the snow, you're tempting us to go back for winter adventures! If Craig fancies a real challenge and has his surfboard with him, 100% head to Kvalvika beach - it'll be a hike to get to, but the beach is amazing and two young filmmakers built a cabin in the hill that you can stay in, log burner and all after an arctic surf. The film Nordfor Sola was filmed there, definitely recommend a watch as it's about two surfers spending an entire year on the beach surfing and building their cabin. It's been so lovely to follow along with this road trip, we've been lucky enough to visit both Denmark and Sweden several times, including some of the places you've been to so far (loved driving to Rømø with our electric campervan!). But now you're heading into unknown territory for us and we just cannot wait to see what wild adventures you get up to! This Arctic drive actually looks like the toughest challenge yet. I think I'd rather drive to Mongolia, not sure I can do -16 honestly. Looks amazing though and you two look so happy!

From someone who lives in the snow most of the year; cat litter is my stuck in deep snow solution!! I keep a box in my car all winter, has got me and multiple friends unstuck. Throw some under each tire and it gives it grip again!

The plastic water bottles you threw away while you were doing chores.
They can be recycled in a machine in most every shop in Sweden and Norway. It’s called the ‘Pant’ system. The machine crushes them for transport to a recycling plant. Same with alu cans. You get a deposit back when you do it.
I had to laugh at the irony of saying you were recycling while throwing plastic in the glass bin Craig 💛 Easy mistake to make.

Conjuring 2 (2016) is definitely my favourite horror film, James Wan (Director) is a legend! I definitely also enjoyed Conjuring 1 (2013) "the Ring" (2002), "get out" (2017) and "Annabelle: Creation (2017). Watching a horror movie in a hut, in a snowy environment, at night, is a treat!
Canada has various rules regarding snow tires, studded tires are illegal in many but not all Provinces and Territories....best to get equipped with the most expensive snow tires you can afford, but keep in mind that good snow tires are VERY soft and simply wear away in warm weather clear of snow and ice...yes it is a pickle, but something to consider....so far you' ve only been half as cold as my area of Canada is for most of the winter...and we have block heaters that require cars to be plugged into electricity on cold days if they are parked, or better yet garages or if diesel they are just kept running, but some cities have laws against that too. Winter gotta love it
Not sure if your bus has glow plugs, pretty sure it will but do you preheat the engine using the glow plugs before starting it? PS you are both amazing people 💕

In Ontario Canada, I live far in the north, and we always go camping, and what we do is, don’t sleep in all your clothes because when you wake up in the morning if you sleep with it all on, you wake up cold and stay cold, but if you sleep with your jacket off, but maybe lay it over you. Tip! also if you have a partner, the body heat works the best, cuddle each other, But yes when you ain’t wearing everything you own while you sleep, when you go to get dressed in the morning you will be definitely warm up!

Craig and Amy, I used to be a Submariner and the best way to save water when having a shower is to get wet turn off the water, scrub up shampoo, rinse off and there you go, it all shouldn’t be more than 3 minutes of running water 🎉
The best horror film is Cabin in the Woods. The thing is that you have to watch all the classic and big time horror movies to truly appreciate it. I'm not a big horror fan, but I loved this movie.
Block heater! Or, in an emergency, take a page from the people who live in the Canadian North: get a CHEAP, simple, charcoal barbecue. Knock the legs off and and fire up the charcoal. Once it is down to coals, slide it under the engine block and wait for it to heat the engine from the bottom up. Also, you might want to get some of those strap on ice studs for your boots, when it is icy out.
That silly billy cracked me up. I am living in the Midwest in America and they teach you to walk like a Penguin when on ice. Another phrase that made me smile was......we are looking like ice water swimmers
As a native Californian, I moved to Eastern Washington state in the US. So grateful for friends who recommended I purchase Yak Traks to put on my shoes. Get some ice clips, something to walk on slippery walkways if you’re still in Scandinavia. Love your videos!

A tip when you parking a lil off like that, just go into the woods and look for some tree that's fallen and take some pieces to lay under the wheels to get away easier from the snow. Often help the car to get that lil distance to all snow under it so you can get away easy

Hello, lovely humans! About recycling in both Sweden and Norway, the plastic bottles you can take to nearest shop, there are "Pant automat", where bottles and cans can be returned and you get like 3 or 2 krones for each :)

Guys we have the same loo and we tried the coco stuff but the wood shavings are loads better, they help with smell and you can get them in most shops. I cried watching this because I know how it feels to clean it 😂
