  • Not as easy as it looks at 1st..Hyundai did a job on all these plastic parts and everything you need to swap out the regulator assy.. I ran into a few glitches but it all worked out fine..follow along as I work on this together with my camera. If I sound slurred or funny it's because I froze out there. Enjoy...

I am NOT planning to do this myself. Just wanted to understand the problem better before taking it to a mechanic. This video was really helpful. In a very slow and deliberate way, this guy takes you through all the steps while giving very relevant comments on each step.

I managed to get my door panel off first to see what I was dealing with. When I saw the full aluminum panel underneath and unable to see the bolts that hold the window through the slots, I knew I needed a reference. This video helped out a lot because I was gonna be over my head on fixing it myself. Thanks Cuda.

Even though this was posted some time ago, the information presented is helping me out as I attempt to fix the actuator on the left hand side of a 2008 Elantra. I watched several other videos, but got stuck attempting to remove the inner panel. Your video showing how the glass and the riveted holders will prevent removal of the panel, was very useful.

The correct way to handle the door pull is to remove the door handle and then three is 1 screw that connects to the door pull mechanism. The you remove the 3 Torx head screws in the door and you can remove the entire door pull mechanism. It will make removing the connector much easier.

This Video was very informative and helped me to replace my window regulator. With that said The Connector that he is talking about at 13:20 of the video, if you take a small screwdriver, and insert it in the tunnel and towards the tab that you need to lift, has a small opening in the tab that your screwdriver will fit into. Manipulate the screwdriver to lift up on the tab while pulling on the connector and it will pop right out. It took me a while to figure this out but once it was done, it was stupid easy. I hope this helps.

Wow, just what I needed. Amazing detail, VERY helpful and informative
Mine broke tonight. Window did not go up right and I heard (what I'm sure is) plastic fall off inside the door enclosure. 2010 Elantra touring... got the window back up and was uncertain where to go from there.
I looked up the part at the site you mention, gret price until I put in my Canadian address LOL, I'm going to call a few scrap yards.
Almost winter up here and truth is I've been thinking about replacing the car, hopefully early next year if I'm lucky. May skip this job/expense

for that impossible clip on the left that's connected to the door lock, i removed the 3 x T30 screws on the edge of the door that hold the latch, and moved the latch in a bit to disconnect.
i will spray the connectors and plugs with Fluid Film or Honey Goo to protect the connections when re-assembling.

About the wire that runs to the lock.
To make it easier to remove, take out the (3) star bolts on the door, you can then move it around and have space to remove tab with flat head or pick.

I went to a junk yard to get a new regulator and try to figure out how to do it without damaging my car. I found that it was much easier to remove the regulator motor and then you could just lift and push the window up and down to get the screws to line up with the holes. No bending of the metal regulator holder required.
