    Great, concise overview of the watch! Been a big fan of this, and the new size definitely feels great on the wrist.
    Will be curious to see how Tudor releases more modern looking black bays in the future - always thought that was Pelagos territory, but now I see the need for something modern/a bit less technical and sporty.

    I think this is an excellent release by Tudor. I was honestly expecting another black/gilt model, since they did the same with the burgundy last year. It's refreshing and will help this become a modern classic. They did wonders on the case design and comfort since the prior model. I have tried both the Oyster style burgundy new model and 5-link on, including just yesterday. I was at 2 ADs within a week that either sold or transferred their BB Monochrome watches the morning before I showed up. I would go with the 5-link for sure. I'm almost stunned it's so good. It definitely does not feel too big on my 7-inch wrist. While I was hoping for an all blue model to be release, this is still a solid release. I'll just keep waiting for a blue one, or a blue Pelagos 39.

    Great video Blake! Loved the comparison to the sub. If you were after your first Tudor would go for this one or the P39? I’m struggling picking between these two. My wrist is about 6.89 inches and worry about the thickness and L2L of the BB41. Did you find it too heavy?
    Cheers

    • @TheDeepTrack
      @TheDeepTrack  3 месяца назад +1

      While I think you could get away with the new BB41, I think it would be close. The P39 is smaller and lighter, and IMO a bit easier to wear, but that watch is a bit more tool-ish and likely wouldn't be as versatile as the BB41. That said, if have other watches to wear for more formal settings, the P39 would be my choice!

    You say it's half the price of a Sub, but thats only for the fortunate few who can buy a Sub at retail. For the rest of us the BB is more like a quater or less of the price, it's the real world alternative for those that can't afford to get on a wait list.

    @TheDeepTrack In this video, the Rolex Sub almost looks bigger than the Black Bay (diameter wise, not thickness). Is that just an illusion created by the shinier ceramic bezel? Do you know the exact diameter of this Sub? I know it's officially 41mm, but then again so is the BB even though it measures a bit under 41mm. Thanks. Great review!

    • @TheDeepTrack
      @TheDeepTrack  3 месяца назад

      This is a great observation, and also why I caution folks to not go by diameter alone. There's a lot more 'meat on the bone' with this Submariner reference, and the lug span is 20mm compared to the 21mm of the BB41. Because of this the lug is much thicker and it makes the case look a bit tank-y almost, but it wears thinner and flatter (and easier, imo). Visually it looks bigger in a slightly different way, where the BB41 look thinner and longer.

    It’s a nice enough watch but it’s missing the wow factor for me. The jubilee bracelet is better than the faux rivet but the whole vintage inspired design concept is very bland to me. I’d like to see them try something vastly different. I feel like Tudor could be doing a lot more but are restricted by their ties to the past. Intended or not it’s holding them back from being amazing.

      I looked at the 39 and the new bb41, the grade 2 titanium puts me off the Pelagos 39, it scratches too easy and is hard to re finish. Also the look of the 39 is way more toolish than the BB41, so they are different watches not competing ones. If the 39 was stainless steel i would probably go with it, also the clasp on the 39 is too long because of the stupid diver extension!!

  • @gavinwhite9743

    Compared to a Squale, this looks very expensive. Both offer high quality Rolex homages. That's all this is. A few tweaks, ( the logo and snowflake) like good homages do, rather than being a clone, but still a homage. I guess they are hoping people who can't afford a sub feel this is an acceptable homage because of shared Trust ownership, and it returns Tudor to its origins, an affordable version of a Rolex with a cheaper movement. And don't say Rolex aren't available, they make up nearly half of the second hand market on Chrono, Watchfinder etc. without huge markups nowadays. So if you have 9k that gets you the sub, or 4.5k gets you the homage. Better yet, drop a quarter of that price for one of the many homage brands out there, some with a longer history, many using bought swiss movements etc for a quality product. Tudor is only in-house because they bought the movement supplier. Or just buy the 14060m. It has a robust modern movement, 40mm case and the recognised brand. Why are Tudor doing this now? Probably because they lost market share last year and fell behind Hermes in watch sales to no.17. I’m not sure highlighting how much of a homage they are helps Tudor develop its own position, and the design team must have taken all of 3 minutes to change the snowflake and logo…then moved on the innovate a GMT homage that’s not a coke.

    • @paulcorrea1613
      @paulcorrea1613 3 месяца назад

      The Tudor has a better movement than the Rolex 32xx ones, tons of problems with it. And better than the 14060m with an AR coated crystal instead of the 14060m riduculously reflective crystal, slightly bigger so more modern, and a better, easily adjustable bracelet.

  • @porscheoscar
    @porscheoscar 3 месяца назад +3

    Why is social media hyping this boring Rolex clone this hard? Is Rolex hedging their current scarcity for the masses play by pushing this Tudor Submariner homage?
    As for this boring watch, needs a ceramic bezel for a beater. And for $5k which is kind of insane because my first Rolex Submariner cost that much (soft early 2000s market). But that watch can appreciate in value unlike these Tudors. I don't know Rolex have jumped the shark with these prices, it's pretty much iced out first time mechanical Swiss watch buyers in their 20s who don't have disposable income the way I had when I was in my 20s fresh out of college. That pricing is very short sighted in an Apple Watch reality. I guess it's Tudor or bust for Gen Z targeting.

    • @scottd1342
      @scottd1342 3 месяца назад +1

      Buy the Tudor in another year and it will be $1000 cheaper and it will maintain its value. The Tudor is a better looking watch than the sub. Not at all boring, especially on the rubber strap.

    • @porscheoscar
      @porscheoscar 3 месяца назад

      @@scottd1342 hard for me to justify even $3500 for a not really inhouse movement from a brand with no real inhouse heritage. METAS would be great on a more complicated movement but for a basic 3 hander with no date COSC vs METAS is just a couple of seconds best case when both are properly regulated. I just can't get over how brands with no inhouse heritage or inhouse manufacturing are getting the public to go along with these prices.

    • @porscheoscar
      @porscheoscar 3 месяца назад

      @scottd1342 even a grand cheaper its still $3500 for a basic 3 hand movement and no ceramic bezel. That's literally a Seiko Presage but without Seiko's 100 years of 100% inhouse heritage. Hype train aside, Is an extra 3 seconds really worth that in today's inflation economy? Of course not. You can cut that premium in half with a COSC Longines also with 100 years of inhouse heritage and actual complication and not just a base movement. Neither Tudor nor Rolex even make a grand complication. This is wild to me that people fall in line with these marketing strategies

    Tudor is slowly turning this watch into a 30 year old Rolex,all Tudor needs to do is make it thinner and add a Mercedes hr hand. Rolex current submariner has gone on a different path, it’s so square looking,with a big price tag now. Like a seiko turtle 🐢 look. The ink black dial is great 👍 the movement is Meta certified and the jubilee bracelet is the way to go, similar to a Rolex Pepsi. Those rivets are terrible on the original bracelet 😞 and the crown is closer to the case. This is a great upgrade . But it’s not a Rolex, and never will be a Rolex 😮
