  • Taking an easy stroll through the Longfellow-Evangeline State Historic Site and taking a step back into the 1800s Louisiana. I also took a walk through the Olivier Plantation House that sits on the property. This house dates back to 1836 and is quite lovely! Enjoy!

    The history of these plantations are so interesting. And yes, the lands they owned were laid out just right. I haven't seen a mighty oak tree since I was ten, back in Jersey. Love your channel. History lives longer than we do. Thank you for all your work and time. Soooo appreacited. Take care, be safe. God bless your work.

    wow what a gorgeous property!! Amazing furniture, like you , I would take all the desks! The ladder on the front porch of the first cabin did it lead to a tiny loft? I love seeing all plantations. They are so interesting. Keep them coming!! Thank you for sharing, really appreciate it.

    Thank you for sharing! I am a descendant of the Olivier’s of New Orleans. Charles Olivier who’s house that was is my 4X great grand uncle. His father Pierre Olivier De Vezin was awarded that land from the King of France. I plan to visit soon!

    Nice one, Matt! What a nice looking place. I’d definitely would want a porch like that, but completely wrapped around.
    18:56 - kinda looks like the handle of a corn sheller (between the saddles)
    22:39 - Dominoes? Next to the die.
    24:56 - Per Wikipedia, Cup-and-ball (or ball in a cup) or ring and pin. Bilboquet in France. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cup-and-ball
    I saw a croquet set on the side of the desk.
    32:07 - Blacksmith was ahead of the time. He had a vise.
    38:39 - Now, that looks like a corn sheller. Can’t make out what the plate had on it. DVEKER?
    43:36 - Longhorns
    44:33 - “Wilbur!” Dutch door/stable door/half door

      Hey Johnny! Wow thanks for all that info and for breaking it down like that, it's super helpful! I thought that ball and cup thing had another name to it.. Guess I'm thinking of something else 🤣 Always great to hear from you!

    • @JohnnyUtah15
      @JohnnyUtah15 Год назад

      @@travelwithoutacause no problem! Yeah, I’m thinking the ball and cup game may have another name that we may use down here. I know my parents would call something by a name completely different from what an object would be known as. They probably would say it in Cajun-French, not knowing the English term.
