Have the Dango D01 Dapper Bifold, went with the Bifold because I carry my wallet and phone in the same pocket quite a bit, the leather rapping completely around the metal plates keeps the screen on the phone from getting scratched. It also gives you an additional 2 pockets to carry cards or cash but I only carry 4 cards and 2 IDs. I really only like to carry 3 cards between the plates, 4 is doable but the loose plate starts to float with 3 cards it's a non issue. Bought the Dango after using Secrid Slimwallets for the last 7 years and wanted to try something different.
The Dango is a really slick looking wallet, it is only slightly bigger than the Secrid, also own a Trayvax Ascent and the Dapper Bifold is still less bulky, I also carry one less card in the Ascent. The Secrid and Trayvax are easier to access cards from but the Dango is still convenient for the number of cards I carry.

i use a Ridge knockoff that i got from amazon for $13 bucks and i love it...mainly because it's the same dimensions as the credit cards themselves. This Dango seems just too big and bulky for the front pocket. Great review though.

keep in mind that if you're keeping cards like debit cards/ credit cards WITH raised numbers, it'll add up and make the fit a lot tighter. The cash goes on the metal plate sid, not the leather side.

Man I just don't understand this review (but I appreciate it nonetheless). Looked at it while considering the M1 Rail wallet from Dango, figured I'd check this one out too since I have it. This wallet had been my EDC for about 2 years and aside from needing a leather polish, it's been amazing. First, on the side that holds the cards between the chassis and the floating plate, it wasn't loaded or unloaded correctly in the video in my opinion. The floating plate is just larger than the cards and the top corners of the plate function as thumb "grips". Instead of pushing ALL my cards up from the relief in the bottom to get the one I want in the middle, you use your thumb on your free hand to open the floating plate away from the chassis while having your two middle fingers wrap around under and through the relief on the bottom with your hand holding the wallet (that's why the relief is wide enough for two fingers, it's part of the grip of the wallet, which also explains the serrated edges on the chassis for grip on your index finger). You hold it like you're giving the "I love you" sign at a Kiss concert with the leather side to your palm. Plate opens up wide at the top and stays tight at the bottom like an accordion file, and you leaf through your cards and get the right one. It's literally a non issue. Storage amount is way off too because of how he loads this in the video. I currently have my license and insurance card (my easy access essentials) in the leather pocket up front. In the back in between the floating plate and chassis I currently have 10 cards of varying thickness and two business cards. I've never lost a card from here. Additionally, and just because it's annoying to show at Costco, I have my Costco card on the OUTSIDE of the floating plate but inside the band so I can just flash the top when I walk in without touching the card at all. I use the bottle opener at least once a month because my wallet is almost always the closest device with an opener, it works well, and I don't have to open any tools if I have my Leatherman on me to open a bottle. As for money, I have found folding it in half or quarter the opposite direction to how it was in the video makes getting the bills out faster. Yeah it sticks off the sides of the wallet a little but I usually only carry less than 10 bills at a time so no big deal. Having bills how he stores them lengthwise to the band) is sometimes a chore getting it folded into quarters, under the band lined up perfect 50/50, and into my pocket when I'm paying with cash and people are waiting. Despite the fact that I purchased the optional tool card as well, it turns out I don't use it so I can't speak to that. It's too thick for use with all my cards and frankly I don't think I miss it.

I am currently carrying the Ridge wallet and I'm ready to switch to something else. The bolts that hold my Ridge together keep coming out and I lose them. I guess I just haven't gotten used to the idea that my wallet needs periodic maintenance. I have been carrying the Ridge for over 2 years now and I have had to replace screws twice. Have you had any issues with the screws working loose on this Dango?

I would have preferred to see it 1-1.5MM thicker, and thus allowing a few more cards, before the metal plate started “floating” around. I’m coming from a Ridge wallet, where you would easily get 6-7 cards in comfortably, and not have them moving around…I have two credit cards in the front leather slot, and it’s TIGHT…!!! Also, the slot on the back, into which you can put a few cards, is too wide, so your cards don’t stay neat and tidy inside the wallet. Again, design flaws that could be made better. . .

I bought one of these wallets a few months ago and have experienced a couple of problems with it. The leather panel is very thin and is glued to a backing, and after several months of stretching with cards in the wallet, the leather separated from that backing. I had to use some Gorilla Glue to put everything back together. I do not consider the really thin leather to be very high quality, so buyer beware.

I bought it directly from Dango, I have this model and their bi-fold pen wallet that I really like. It has the same thin leather that is glued to a black backing material of some sort. I think the leather stretches at a different rate than the backing, which can cause them to separate. You just have to be careful and watch for the leather coming detached from that backing material. It can be glued back together. @@ChrispyThings

A grown man who only carries 2 cards on him and a single $5 is definitely who this wallet is for. If you have a job, family & cash- go with a “money clamp” or a 32mm (1.25”) binder clip.

I’ve never had a band wallet and keep seeing how great they are for everyone else but I just don’t think they are right for me. Clamping seems to work well but everyone is going towards these things. As promised you did your review Dango wallet... let's just say I'm still waiting to see your Trayvax review. Dango Dapper is ok. I've seen some better ones by Dango.
I'm not sold on anything that uses a silicone strap.. as it will break down and stretch out (I'm sure they will replace the strap... but after I've lost money or cards)
Not big on the chassis size and hot spots by the look of it... or that tab! Or that I cant carry many cards or adjust to fit! And anyone can make a snake knot paracord lanyard! So to me that is a wash!
I'm still a Trayvax Contour fan through and through and as I said, it will be the last wallet I ever need unless Trayvax comes up with something cooler.
Still you have a brilliant unbiased (I'm not lol) review of wallets and I appreciate what you do and look forward to the next review which is why I subscribed after the Ridge.
    Keep it up Crispy😀

I’m still super new at this and learning as I go. Your feedback helps!

No, crispy, I still vote ridge. I lose other usability for glass breaking and bottle opening? Maybe if I was a beer guzzling hoodlem, but I’m not a hoodlem, and I got a bottle opener. Plus, looks and is bigger. It’s not minimalist if it does things that wallets generally don’t do. Silly.

Chrispy Things lol! No way. You might as well be crispy wallets. I’m doing as you suggested, writing my opinion, and I want “least is more, “ and that’s ridge. That is minimalist-ist. Now, i get they’re tsa safe and I don’t know if you traveled w ridge but I get tsa won’t take it away, but do they open it up and empty it’s contents. ?

Chrispy Things, I just tried to put about ten bills under the strap and they hang out of the wallet. Hard to get to anything. I guess if you have a drivers license, a credit card and an ATM card, and no cash, I guess it could work. Nothing against you, your video was done well. I just hate this wallet.

    • @ChrispyThings
      @ChrispyThings  4 года назад

If you’re folding in half it could be problematic. I usually fold into 3rds or quarters. But 10 bills folded into quarters adds a ton of thickness. If you carry a lot of bills, this isn’t the wallet for you.
Don’t throw it away, sell it. There are plenty of people who’d love to have that D01.
