Is the 2020 Honda Accord Sport the BEST midsize sedan VALUE?

  • The Accord Sport continues as the midsize sedan leader in Honda's lineup. Under the hood is a 1.5L turbocharged inline-4 that produces 192 HP & mated to either a CVT or 6-speed manual transmission. On the inside you will find more room due to a stretched wheel base, On the outside you will find sporty looks and handling dynamics to match them. Is the 2020 Honda Accord Sport the better buy over the Toyota Camry?

It takes driving this car to understand how good it actually is. Not the most feature packed, I’ll hand that to the Kia Optima, but this thing is a dream to drive. I enjoyed driving the 1.5t sport over the V6 Camry for some reason. It’s that good. I hated this car when it first came on the scene, especially when I saw it in pictures. But all of that changed when my aunt bought one and I saw how amazing it looked, especially at night.

For the past four years I’ve been driving a 2004 Subaru Impreza. I saved up and just bought this car (except white) today, and yeah……wow. To say it’s a bit of an upgrade is an understatement. This thing is an absolute joy to drive. My first Accord, I’ve usually only had Civics.
This thing is like riding in high style compared to my old banger (may she RIP with a blown gasket). It was hard to wait as I saved, but was worth it.

I agree with some of the other commenters, big ZONK on the CVT trans, and another ZONK for below 200 hp in 2019, when you can get a Camry with a naturally aspirated V6 with over 300 hp and an 8 speed trans for a few $$ more. Though I must admit this car looks great and has quite a reasonable price.

If you go back to 2011 and 2013 concept cars from Honda and Toyota, some of them became reality. I'm excited to see what Honda does moving forward, because they've been quiet for so long. They just released the new Honda Fit and Jazz model, it's a cute car. But on the design of it, that metallic Honda centerpiece was gone it was blended into the paint. So, it seems like Honda is moving towards a youthful path. I hope Honda provides some sporty concepts soon.

Joe, great review. Have you driven the 1.5 sport manual (I haven't seen a review?) I had my eyes on a 2020 Civic SI, test drove it and love it, but now wondering if I should look into the bigger Accord Sport manual transmission for about $1500 more. Would be giving up some of the niceties (moonroof and satellite radio to name 2) but this Accord in a manual transmission looks really sweet too. I'll have to find one at a dealership to test drive. Not many manuals out there though.
