- In this Inferences tutorial, our expert test developer talks through how to answer an inferences question from a critical thinking test.
In this section candidates will be provided with a passage of information on a scenario.
A subsequent list of possible inferences will follow, and candidates will be asked to rate if they are true, false, possibly true, possibly false or whether it is not possible to say based on the information in the passage.

Thanks so much for the brief refresher on these!!!
I am not clear on #2 and #3... you say there is no mention of "clerical errors" so it's INSF data? But then in #3, it doesn't mention the other areas, so wouldn't that be INSF data as well?
Hi Kacey, so Q2 is 'probably false' as, although it there is no mention of clerical errors in the passage, China have consistently omitted areas such as R&D. So to say that any disparities are 'merely clerical errors' is probably not true as they seem to be intentionally omitting areas of spending each year. Thus the answer is 'probably false'.
For Q3, the inference is that China omits spending for several areas that aren't talked about in the passage, specifically 'agriculture, human rights and law', as we don't have any figures for these (or any information at all) we must answer this as 'more information required'
@@AssessmentDayLtd I am not following your rationale. Other area is mentioned so is it not possible that it's the same areas as mentioned in the conclusion.
@@jigneshpadia I thought the exact same thing. Surely the answer to Q3 is "Probably True". As the Chinese government regularly omit spending figures in "many other areas" then it is more likely to be true than false/probably true that " military spending, agriculture, human rights and law" falls under this category. This is how my brain works, anyway.
You can't know that these specific fields are the ones covered in the "many other areas" that's why it's insufficient
Is time taken into account?
Would you be able to further explain what you mean by this?
AssessmentDay Ltd does it affect your overall score?
@@NickVlogTv From what I understand, the test will end once the time runs out.
