    Does grinding weld beads affect strength of weld joints? 6:46

    • @TrendDIY
      @TrendDIY  2 месяца назад

      Yes, grinding weld beads can affect the strength of weld joints. While it can improve aesthetics and reduce stress risers, excessive grinding might remove too much material and weaken the weld. It's essential to balance appearance with structural integrity. Have you had any experiences with grinding welds?

      Cutting the removed corners at a 45-degree angle helps create a cleaner, more polished look. Just got to grind the zinc off in the weld area, and try to reduce the heat input as it can still burn off in the area next to it. It's not just a health issue, but also a weld contamination concern. I don't actually often use galvanized metal for projects, was just highlighting that a special care is required.

    Okay my only issue is that those round poles seem to be galvanized. Please, please do not weld the galvanization. Grind it off first. Unless you like to get sick or poisoned. Granted with good ventilation spot welding it might be "safe" but why chance it especially for welding beyond spot. If people do not know then please look up what welding galvanized metal does.

    • @TrendDIY
      @TrendDIY  Месяц назад

      That's a great point! Welding galvanized metal can release harmful fumes, so grinding off the galvanization is definitely a smart move. • @TrendDIY
      @TrendDIY  28 дней назад

      @@davidcrumrine1165 Thanks for sharing your experience! It's great that you recovered quickly. However, prolonged exposure to galvanized steel fumes can be harmful, and drinking milk, while a popular remedy, isn't a proven treatment. It's always a good idea to take proper precautions, like working in a well-ventilated area and using a respirator. Stay safe while welding!

      그리고 꼭 다른 사람들이 쓰지 않더라도, 시간이 지나면서 그 테이블이 가지는 가치가 점점 커질지도 몰라요. 무언가를 만들 때의 경험이 더해지면 그 물건이 더 소중하게 느껴질 수도 있거든요. 혹시 나중에 다시 테이블을 업그레이드하거나 다른 아이디어로 변형해볼 생각은 있으신가요?

    I feel like ur doing stop motion welding. As I went to trade school for welding, it makes it kind hard to watch. Almost as hard as watching a pre-schooler drawing inside the lines for the first time. You just want to jump in and help them, but you don’t because you if you do, then you know they’ll never actually learn from their mistakes on their own 🤷🏼‍♂️. Also… why wasted material. You could have just cut the corners and put plate over them and weld the seems. Metal is very forgiving like that. It’s not like it’s wood.

      Если вы говорите об уровнях навыков в TIG, это отличный способ описать прогресс. Лучший способ начать с азов и постепенно совершенствовать свои навыки. Попробуйте попрактиковаться на разных материалах и посмотрите обучающие видеоролики, чтобы улучшить свои способности. Если вам нужна дополнительная информация или конкретные советы, дайте мне знать!

    Maybe I'm just a perfectionist fabricator, but when I see you go to such detail and then leave the outside edges with right angles on the corner it makes me cringe! Why not add material and grind the outside corners smooth like the inside!? Great work though, don't take this as a put down of the project over all. I would have conversations with my guys at my shop all the time. We did motorsports work and in our particular market, it had to be perfection. Maybe that's why I think like this. LOL

    • @TrendDIY

      I appreciate your keen eye for detail and your commitment to perfection! Your suggestion to smooth the outside corners is definitely a great idea and could elevate the finish even more. Thank you for the constructive feedback-it's comments like these that help us all improve our craft. Keep up the great work in your shop, and stay tuned for more projects that strive for that perfect finish!

      @@TrendDIY Thanks for your comment. It's nice to talk to an adult for once on YT. LOL I agree with you 100%. Constructive feedback only makes for a better product and a more experienced fabricator.

      @@TrendDIY I think the best and most accurate way would be to use solid steel for the corner parts with one grinded corner each and then weld it with the profiles.
