Hi Jen, Had a bad day with the endo today. Been using the Libre for about 4 yrs now and was proud to point out that by adjusting the insulin duration profile of my bolus calculator I was able to eliminate the wild swings in BG with nearly flat graphs to show my progress. Got hit in the stomach with your still getting lows overnight, get out the scales and measuring cups, and for God's sake rotate your injection site. Feel like ripping off the sensor and just going to bed and never take another shot again. It's been 34 yrs and I'm just getting tired of it all. Only good part to the day was your video, brought a smile to my heart. Keep up the good work and all the best to you.

So nice to hear from someone who experiences such similar issues with controlling type 1.

Hi Jen. Greetings from a very warm Gironde, France. With some thanks to you I currently use a Libre (free on prescription here) plus a MiaoMiao2 Bluetooth Sender with a TicWatch Pro for monitoring. Been way off my chosen target of 3.9-8.2 recently due to a number of factors like heat, exercise or lack of it. No G6 yet in France & will talk to consultant soon about G5. Like your comments even with Dexcom about the delay in your body responding to corrective measures. Do not know about my Omnipod making suggestions about insulin needed from current level for carb intake. Tis all in French so must talk to my perfect English speaking nurse (she used to be an English teacher & is French). Just to say once again very many thanks for your excellent vlogs. Roger 💖

This was really helpful, thanks! My consultant has just applied for funding to get me a G6 as I have lost most of my hypo awareness, especially at night when I sleep through them, so the alarms will be really helpful! I was diagnosed 28 years ago but had a kidney/pancreas transplant 8 years ago. My pancreas transplant sadly failed in January so I’m having to re-learn everything again and I’m now back on injections which I find so limiting compared to the pump I was on before my transplant. I’m hoping once I get the Dexcom I can then push for a pump and I’d love to try the Omnipod! Thanks again, this has been so helpful and I really hope I get the funding! x

Hi Jen, thank you for your vlogs. 'I wanna tell you a storee', end of Max Bygraves impression-you're too young to remember! Heard from French consultant that I was not unbalanced enough for G5 on prescription. Good news is I have ordered a G6 starter pack to be sent to UK son who will forward to me. Heading for 100% in target, never heard alarm from Libre-MiaoMiao-smartwatch set-up so LO again. I hope you are very well & best wishes & thanks again for your vicarious heath care! Roger 💥❤💖

With the exchange system t1ds used to be on (remember, old school t1d since 1988 here, LOL), I can still eye ball several serving sizes and tend to do that instead of measuring too. As for my pros: while I have my alerts set to vibrate, aside from urgent low, I can hear it enough, and feel it on my pump, to consult it and take action. I now know when my blood sugars are starting to respond to given situations and act accordingly. Having my hypo awareness return so I can feel those coming on now too. Also, not having my fingers look like they have the entire Milky Way galaxy stamped into them is nice. As for cons: sometimes it misreads- typically in days 1-3, and will tell me I am high when I am low or low when I am high. Thankfully, since the hypo awareness is back, I can usually judge if a reading is not right, but I have lost a couple sensors because they don't always seem to enjoy being calibrated when they are off. I mean, no one likes being told they are wrong, but this is a device helping me live, so.....

Forgot to add another con: cost. Living in the US, I have to meet a deductible before they are covered, and then coinsurance until I meet an out of pocket max. So, I have increased credit card debt being on Dexcom, but the trade off is worth it for the peace of mind. Hoping to have that not be an issue too much in future years, but for now it is somewhat of a con.

Hi Jen, thank you for your video, love your honest review. I’m a newly diagnosed T1 (3 months now at age 38)! and have been using the Freestyle Libre. After experiencing my first night hypo and dealing with all those symptoms you mentioned my husband and I are looking into the Dexcom G6 (for the alarm feature). I’ve found your videos to be super helpful as I come to deal with my new way of life, keep up the good work 👍🏻😀

Linda de Vries A cheaper alternative to the Dexcom is the Miao Miao, which is basically a transmitter that turns the Libre into a CGM with alarms, it’s changed my life! I now have my BG on my phone and my smart watch and get woken up in the night by the hypo alarm, it’s an amazing bit of tech and so much cheaper than a Dexcom.

Hi Jen thanks so much for this video! I am also type 1 for 30+ yrs on injections. I'm about to finally try a CGM and the Dexcom is the one that I'm going with....your review was really helpful ☺❤

Hello Jen...good to see your face again. I've been listening to the podcast and wondered if you would be making videos still. Great job on the podcast by the way. Will it be available on Google podcasts anytime soon? The Dexcom G6 is a game changer and since you are already a Podder...will you be looking into looping in the near future? In any case great video and I hope to see more. Cheers!

great video as always Jen but £159 a month for some of us is alot of money, don't get me wrong I work full time as a chef but on minimum wage so it does not go far at all. I have been diabetic for 46 years and the advance in tech has been amazing, I bought the starter pack when the G6 first came out and was amazed with it but now I have started closed looping with a programme called AAPS (Andriod Artificial Pancreas System) with xDrip+ & nightscout. I am using a mioa mioa and libre atm it is working fine but can't benefit from all its uses, if I could get the G6 then I could dtake full advantage of the artificial pancreas system.
Keep up the good work I look forward to your future youtube videos
