    Just for reference, this song is obviously told from the perspective of extremists like ISIS, who have been destroying lots of architecture and artifacts which bothers the guys in Nile a great deal, as they really love Egyptian history. The bulk of Nile's early material is explicitly about Egyptian mythology. I'd definitely recommend checking out those earlier songs, like Ramses Bringer of War, The Blessed Dead, or Sarcophagus.

      lol yeah nile are a bunch of chill dudes, this is just them screwing with people a little. like the chorus in kafir where they repeat the shahada but phrase it to sound like they're saying there is no god, but then they throw in a muezzin's call to prayer in the breakdown

      Told from the perspective of an extremist, but if you study the life of Muhammad carefully as well as the Hadith written after his death you will see that the notion of destruction of everything non-muslim is an essential part of the life and example the prophet of Islam gave. And remember, Muslims are told over 90 times in the Quran to follow the example of the prophet in every way possible. So, the lyrics of this song depict the exact example and mindset of the prophet and true followers of his, not just some small bunch of islamic extremists out there.

    • @squashedeyeball
      @squashedeyeball 6 лет назад +5

      Krzysztof Maćkowiak
      True. Muhammad was a war lord and committed massacres by himself (Along with other things). That being said, I have Muslims who *are* religious, but they don't follow anything from Muhammad, or from the Sunnah and Hadith (Which are as important as the Quran itself). But by the belief itself, that only makes lesser believers than those who do follow these motions.

      Well, people also accused Slayer of being nazis back in the day... It's just that they take everything literally without giving thought to why the songs were written and how.

    Consider this as your daily Agalloch request.
    As for the song.. not a big Nile listener, but they do have some interesting stuff, never heard the album this is from though, only older ones. About the Lyrics, pretty sure this is about when some Muslims wanted to tear down the pyramids for some reason.. seems appropriate a band called Nile would make a song about that.
    Pretty sure they don't mean the band itself wants that shit to happen, haha.

  • @MajesticDemonLord
    @MajesticDemonLord 6 лет назад +67

    Really? This was the Nile song you went with? There are far superior songs in their catalogue, both in terms of Song writting and lyrical content:
    Lashed to the Slave Stick
    Unas, Slayer of the Gods
    Annihilation of the Wicked
    As he Creates, so he destroys
    Kafir
    Masterbating the War God
    Black Seeds of Vengence
    Sarcophagus
    Rameses, Bringer of War.
    Winds of Horus
    Edit - For example - Lashed to the Slave stick is a story about the ancient Egyptian punishments for Blasphemy, Unas... is about the Pyramid Texts (in particular, the Cannibal Hymn), Annihilation of the Wicked is about the massive upheaval in Egyptian society when one of the Pharaohs tried to move from a Polytheistic religion to a monotheistic religion.

    I consider this song to be one of the weaker works of Nile. You guys should listen to songs like ‘Lashed to the Slave Stick’ or ‘Von Unaussprechlichen’ off of their album “Annihilation of the Wicked” which is considered one of the best death metal albums. The band is pretty heavy so they might be hard to get into for some

    • @Robertowarren

      LASHED TO THE SLAVE STICK... that is such a metal ass metal line and song lol

    • @Robertowarren

      Ely Gallego yeah they should go with something a bit easier to get into by death metal standards.... like Death, hypocrisy, bolt thrower, at the Gates... I know some of them are melodic death but that’s usually a good way to start

    Not a band I would have recommended. Tech Death is tough to get in to. This is one of the most extreme styles of extreme metal. Your facial reaction during the song was priceless though.
    Again mentioning Wintersun-Sons of Winter and Stars (Live from Sonic Pump Studios). You will love it.
    I can only guess this was recommended in an attempt to offend you guys with the fact that the song is from the perspective of ISIS.
    I will say this is INCREDIBLY difficult to play. Like to a ridiculous degree. I wouldn't say its necessarily pleasing to the ears (not mine anyways) but its still quite an achievement to be able to play at this level.

    NILE on "Those Who The Gods Detest" also did a song called "Kafir" which is heretic in Arabic and is used plenty in the Quran. In the song you can hear a muezzin praising Allah. Although on the surface it would like a song about Islamic heretics, in fact it uses that thematic to highlight the heresy of Pharaoh Akhenaten, who during his reign abolished the worship of the gods of Egypt to the central sun diety Aten. After Akhenaten's death and the succession of his son Tutankhamun, the works and acts by Akhenaten were declared heresy and his memory and his deeds as pharaoh were erased. You can still see monuments that bear Akhenaten's name but are damaged in an attempt to erase him from history. Akhenaten is a big subject matter for Nile being the main focus on the album mentioned above and "Annihilation Of The Wicked" .

    Sori already said she listed it but just a quick reminder, The Sword - Iron Swan. Prolly the underground show but they are a mainstage band ... chunky deep tone riffs, norse mythology styled lyrics, non growling (actual singing). You guys will love it (especially Vin.)

    You guys need to revisit Nile !!! Something like Annihilation of the Wicked, or Black Seeds of Vengeance... these guys are from Georgia ( state not country) all of their music tells stories from ancient Egypt. Really amazing melodic / technical death metal

  • @Mudflap1974
    @Mudflap1974 6 лет назад +3

    Nile generally writes songs about historical topics, usually with ancient Egypt in the mix (hence the name Nile). You guys picked a pretty hardcore song, haha. I'm a pretty big Nile fan, but this is NOT their best work to be honest. It is technically impressive though, as is most of their stuff. I would agree with others, check out 'Lashed to the Slave Stick' or 'Sacrifice Unto Sebek'...

    I am a huge fan of Nile and they are in my top 3 favorite Metal bands. As already mentioned by others here, their songs are about Egyptian mythology, including the Book of the Dead and also other subjects relating to Egypt. I like Nile because in a genre saturated with Viking Metal, they are a breath of fresh air with a new theme.

    This one would lead to a very interesting dialogue.

    Yes, it's extreme both musically and lyrically, but the latter is pretty straightforward. Karl Sanders of Nile reiterates what has already been documented. However, combined with Nile's music...the experience can be overwhelming if you haven't warmed to their style and sound. Keep up the great work!!! TGIF!

    Ôh my god, you guys go for such good stuff ^^ I started listening to Nile when I was becoming a metalhead in high school (16 years ago), and it instantly became my favorite death metal band for its Egyptian mythology and sonority. I don't think you got the best song to listen though, Ramses Bringer of War would have been more representative of their style, in my opinion.
    You talked about Deicide, but I haven't seen a Deicide video in your channel. Did I miss it?

    The Nile track you guys should review is Ramses bringer of war. It's a good beginner track for sure.

    Ya'll need to check out some atmospheric black metal. Has a very unique take on metal with a more textured/moody sound. Wolves in the Throne Room - Ahrimatic Trance would be a solid one to start with.

    This song is showcasing the ignorance perpetrated by a Zealot. Nile typically sings about ancient Egypt. This song was brought about by the destruction of many great ancient monuments at the hands of ISIS.

    Yesss!!! Getting into some Death Metal! Do some Allegaeon: Grey Matter Mechanics - Apassionata ex Machinea.
    They’re not in the spotlight. They’d be a good underground show song! They sing about science and nerdy stuff haha
