  • Today we are benchmarking the Ryzen 5 3400G and the Ryzen 3 3200G. We're also comparing them to last year's 2200G and 2400G. Are the 3200G and 3400G worth it?

    You're being very kind with AMD here. These are basically just slightly overclocked 2200G and 2400G and I don't think they should be put under the 3000 series. You can just go into the BIOS and set the same clocks on 2200G and 2400G. The actual results look off, comparing the 2200G with 3200G, a 12% higher GPU clock, does not give you the deltas shown in your charts.

    The results in the first benchmark can be easily explained. The 3400g can be suffering from SMT. If only 5 threads are being used, the 3200g could be using 4C/4T while the 3400g is using 3C/5T.

    Hey man another great video. I just built a system with a ryzen 2400g and kind of ran into a problem. I check task manager and it says that I have 16 gb of ram but that only 13.9 is usable. Do you know if it’s just the processor reserving ram or is it a mother board ram compatibility issue. I’ve watched lots of videos on what the issue is but it seems to either be a setting which I don’t have enabled so I know it’s not that, or a windows 7 problem but I have windows 10 64Bit so im really confused. Also if i go to system info it tell me total ram installed is 16 GB but total physical ram is 13.9.Here are all the parts: Processor: ryzen 5 2400g
    Motherboard: msi b450 bazooka v2
    Ram: G.skill flare x 16 GB dual channel 3200
    Memory: Kingston a400 340gb ssd
    Another problem I’ve run into is that it says the ram is running at 1200mhz in task manager but in the bios it says it’s running at 2400mhz my gut tells me to trust the bios but you never know.

      @@tejaspadhye He's 100% wrong. You want as fast memory as you can get with an APU, though you'll be limited by Zen+'s memory controller in what kind of clocks you'll be able to achieve. 3400MHz is the best you'll prolly see, and even that will take a bit of luck, but you DEFINITELY want at least 3200MHz.

      No issues. U can buy seprate graphic card and if ur grphc card fails after some yrs then also u can run computer as 3400g has integrated gpu. And u can buy rx 560 r 1650 super. According to ur budget. These r around 10 to 15k buy in computer bazars. Online price super high 3 to 5k high.

    • @PradeepKumar-tq4ev

      Without grphc card. Compter can't show display so if separate grphc card fails u can still run computer as ur using now and so apu is good option to have and for how much price u ve bought 3400g cpu and in which yr.

  • @MarkLangdahl
    @MarkLangdahl 5 лет назад +1

    I really don't think there is any reason to buy an APU if you intend to add a graphics card to your computer later. Just save up for the graphics card and find a cheap r5 1600 which has been spotted at 80$ or in a couple of months you can probably find the 2600 at something like 120$. And beside the extra cores you won't be limiting the graphics card that you will be adding. If you are rocking an APU you are limiting your graphics card to 8 PCIe gen 3 lanes whereas a 1600 or 2600 can use all 16.

    • @ZachsTechTurf
      @ZachsTechTurf  5 лет назад

      I personally am in the same boat as you Mark, but "just save more money" isn't an option for a lot of people unfortunetely.

    • @MarkLangdahl
      @MarkLangdahl 5 лет назад

      @@ZachsTechTurf No but if it's not an option to spend more time saving then I'd say don't plan on upgrading the graphics until you are going to upgrade you cpu as well. You can get a six core Ryzen cheaper than the 3200G and with the 20$ you save go buy a used low end graphics card like a GT 730 or however good you can afford it. Because if you plan to put in a graphics card you will be gimping it by using an APU.

    The thing with these is that they are actually still 12nm chips, not 7nm. If they do a refresh and put them on 7nm I really think that APU's could be something truly amazing.

  • @theephus
    @theephus 5 лет назад

    There is a ton of wrong information in this thread, including from the reviewer. For the love of god, don't cap your RAM at 2933 mhz. I run at 3466 mhz CL14 on my 2400G and will try for higher on my 3400G. It makes a MASSIVE difference, especially if you overclock the GPU as well. The bottleneck of these APUs will always be RAM speed until they put GDDR or HBM on the die.
    This review is fine for showing stock limitations with crap RAM, but really doesn't address max capability of the 2200G vs. 3200G vs. 3400G when overclocked.
