I used the MIXON 4 exclusively for my biggest gigs to date and its a powerhouse. The MIXON 8 has everyhting I wish the MIXON 4 had and more. I have no doubt this controller will shine in its own right. When the MIXON 4 came out people still seemed so hesitant to dj with Algoriddim and with ipads. The MIXON 4 and Algoriddim blazed the trail for the MIXON 8 and now the dj community has this to play with and I couldnt be more excited to see what happens.
Only thing I personally don't like is having the iPad so low - I have always liked my screen elevated so I don't have to squint to see it. Of course, just as with a laptop, it's perfectly possible to use a stand.
MIXON 4 was solid. I can’t wait for this one! 🔥🔥🔥

Learning on the Numark MixTrack Pro FX means I prefer the layout of the Rane Four, and could keep the MixTrack as a backup/compact without getting confused each time I switch. But I'm impressed at the compact dimensions and price of this Reloop, given all the features on offer. I wish they'd do a miniature Rane Four with 6" jogs... I guess everyone wants something different!

Lovely Stuff
As an older denon fan, I do like this layout. Add an iPad , another bonus. This is a great looking controller.

I always loved this layout, proper amount of knobs for FX, different pad modes, proper length of pitch fader, etc... might as well buy one AND map it to use with Rekordbox

I actually like Pioneer’s Serato controllers more because of those 3 knobs on top

@@digitaldjtips Fucking right. I wish Stanton Gemini and Numark could get their shit together. I was even riding for DJ Tech...just bring more options tech and creativity. Especially in the middle tier of gear.
Yes well agreed. I loved the Stanton SCS. 3d and SCS 3m and thought and hoped if they made it bigger or even as an all in one would amazing very different and great for touch and proper feedback. Or even a mix of touch surface and knobs were be the most ideal.Having options and new tech is always great.@@lewulfe7675

Could always map stemps to the djay stems activation buttons on serato, it's a shift function on the arm button anyways so it works identically on both platforms

I wish they make the jogwheels a little bigger .that would give pioneer a run for the money. But I really prefer the layout more than anything other controllers. I love where they put the Search paddle it's so comfi to search for music
We found the jogs to be fine, a bit stiff maybe.

thank you for putting this up I been wanting to find more about this. I have very limited physical space I currently have the Mixon 4 and while I can fit a slightly bigger controller I wouldn't be able to fit a lot bigger controller how does this compare size wise with the Mixon 4? I totally agree with you about having the pitch controller on the outside and not in the middle. Thanks for the vid keep up the good work.
If space is tight I would suggest checking the exact measurements on the Reloop site.

I'm a mobile dj and this is wonderful but as a mobile we do love the compact so is this a compact like the pioneer ddj sr2 or ddj 800?
Great review! Hey Phil team, and this is a feature that always seems to be overlooked, can you run Djay pro AI (iPad) and Serato laptop at the same time? Like one on USB A and the other on USB B? Thanks!

I have received mine and it’s great so far!
I’m thinking the effects to the Mics should be easy and straight forward to apply but it seems I can’t get the effects to work with the mics input 1 or 2. Is there a particular step I can be missing or a setting I need to adjust? I’m working with the DJAY Software off of my Ipad Pro.

Great device. I wás about to go for a Rane Four, but this one makes me think I need thís one instead of the FOUR. I know the Rane FOUR is only a couple of 100 more, but 1300 is already a whole bunch of coins. NOIZZ !!

FX, yes.
Serato Flip controls on board? This was also one of the differentiators of the Mixon 4. Sad to see the loop length control going from a knob to a pair of buttons.

Might want to turn the ipad the other way up, putting it in like that puts pressure on the cameras
...but puts it so the USB-C lines up with the unit. Decisions, eh?
Hi Phil, i use traktor s2 Kontrol MK3 with dj pro which works quite well, but I would like to use effects via the controller. I tried the Mixon 8, which ist great, but quite a big piece. Can you recommand a smaller controller, that works well with dj pro ? Thank you !

Great video thank you. Does anyone know what button you use to flip the eq knobs to neural mix and back to controlling EQ? Mine are stuck on neaural mix and have no idea on how to change it back? I’ve done the latest firmware but they mention a simple. Button, which button?
I'm almost certain you can do it in the software.
Shift plus mode on default map but I’ve mapped to shift plus cue, just makes more sense to me.
So...What's the best controller for stems? (By which I mean any of the stems systems not just serato). This definitely looks like a competitor.

I could see myself playing with this and remapping some functions in VDJ. Are the filters and eq knobs analog? I’d actually prefer if not so I could do more interesting midi mapping.
Probably not analog if it's not a hardware mixer
Filters *might* be - not checked. EQs will be.

What is the quality of the pads? I have the Reloop ready and… the pads are not ready at all! For now the best pads I have pushed are Pioneers and after the Rane… This Reloop?
lol "the pads are not ready at all" ... i also appreciate good pads and just ordered a reloop ready, i'm a little scared now but thanks for the warning on that ;) .. have you tried the pads on the Reloop Neon? if i hate those Reloop ready pads ill probably grab the reloop neon if those are good.
Is this compatible with Virtual DJ? if it is do you control STEMS via controls at top or have to assign to the performance pads?
If not it will be soon, but not sure about how Stems will work with it in VirtualDJ.
I currently use the Mixon 4, I’ve replaced two volume faders and a third is dying, does this unit have a better build quality or superior parts to its predecessor?
Can't comment on that as we didn't disassemble it.
Looks fun as hell to use. Love them paddles. Question tho, Can you jump from say a 8 beat loop to a 1 beat loop bypassing say a 2-4 beat loop or do you have to go through all the loops to get the desired one. I hope this makes sense lol.

Hi Phil, do you agree, that the Mixon 8 Pro ist the best Choice for DJ Pro AI in Combination which an Ipad, if you want to do Professional Mixing ? I actually work with Traktor DJ for iOS with the Traktor Kontrol S2 MK3. Unfortunally the Software will no langer be updated an i would like to Continue dj ing with the ipad. Which Controller could be an alternative ? I like the Reloop Mixtur for a Gig in a bar, but for bigger Venues it has not enough options. Thank You very much, Wolfgang
Yes, it probably is - it has a LOT more features than the Mixtour as you say

Yes it charges the iPad. Can't remember if it comes with a cable, but probably, yes.
Will this have the auto bpm transition button that pioneer rev5 has ?
Djay pro has cross fader effects with auto transition built in plus much more. I have mapped a button to turn off or on. Great for quick mixing and open format as you can transition between BPM whilst staying in sync. Very good indeed.
Been looking to make an upgrade this summer. Just got a new MacBook Pro. Algorithm Djay was where I first learnt how to DJ. Would be nice to go back to that. I’ve been using Denon Prime 2 the last 3 years. Now I’ve got my eyes on this Mixon 8 👀

all the other brands just iterate the same product line year after year or they even go bust!
I believe they plan and execute over time, not like pioneer who drops controllers every year. I just got my Mixon 4 and I was amazed knowing this thing came out in 2016 and is still innovative. I will save my pennies for the 8 pro.
Its funny to see that a normal controller costs now the same as an all in one controller (sc4).
This is more than a controller though (external mixer etc.)

No, we don't. It's just a Serato controller, our Serato course course all of it.
I recently acquired this and successfully installed the new firmware 4735 ver. But it’s not recognizing my iPad Pro, haven’t been able to get it to work :/ have you had any trouble with this new firmware?
Not that we've heard of/noticed.
Mines came in last week and I had the hardest time trying to upload the firmware. It kept says controller not detected. I return it and got my money back. Suppose to get another one in a few days. I’ll update when I get it

N, it is a subscription app and therefore not possible to buy a licence.
Cheaper SC live 4/Denon Prime 2, but without the standalone side??????
And not as many pro outputs either

Nice controller at a very fair price! In personally believe pioneer hardware is overpriced… Anyway the mixon 8 layout is not a new thing, the Traktor S4 mk1 and mk2 had the same mirror layout…
Yes, it is the opposite of a new thing - it's how all controllers used to be.
@@digitaldjtips it makes more sense no? I mean I understand that nowadays controllers are trying mirroring the CDJ's... But maybe in this way (of the Mixon8) is more practical? What do you think? For you is the same either cases?
why haven't a company designed a standalone device doing the role the ipad is doing here that has internalized audio interface, water proof, ruggedized, heat/cold resistance, ect that could survive multiple fully booked schedules at burning man? its not accurate to just say theres no difference what's the point. there is a difference. djs dontneed the planned obsolescence of apple product. we dont want djing and communication done the same divice. ipads seem so undergunned.

Hello! The mixon 4 has been the worst controller I've tried, the buttons are of terrible quality, the cue fails, play stop, etc...
If the Mixon 8 has the same buttons, I don't want it even if they give it to me...
Mixon 4 has been a disaster... in the end most of the controls had to be done with the mouse!

In a heated market with a lot of competition this unit is about to 250 Euros too expensive.
Also considering that you still have to pay fifty € every year for your DJ Pro AI licence (yep, there's no buy-once-own-always option!) PLUS your Tidal or whatever streaming account....
And don't forget: on Windows machines the Neural Mix engine is not existent for DJ pro AI, so you won't have instant karaoke songs or other AI tricks either....
Mixon 8 is a fine machine but think twice...

@@DJPeterLo It's just messing with my brain and in the heat of djing that flipped layout kinda distracting.
BTW I am not the only one who not the fan of the mirrored thing... But I mainly use Pioneer gear so maybe that's why my BIG hate. 😁
