A real In-depth review not just a summary of functions like most reviewers
I've completely switched over to DJay Pro with the Mixon 8. I've migrated my library to Apple Music and use it as my primary source. Nice to be able to prep on my Macbook and it automatically syncs right away to my iPad. And being able to use either or both iPad and Macbook connected to the Mixon 8 at the same time is a game changer.
shame about the lack of Flac (support) on Apple Music isn't it
I’m not able to connect my MacBook and my iPhone 13promax at the same time….but you are able to do it….i obviously do something wrong…
Good move, I am setting up my Mac book Pro to run DJ Pro AI with an external Nvme NAS to hold my Library and running a swap disc.

Great review as usual Mojaxx! I've been using an iPad with Algoriddim djay Pro in the booth for about 5 years now. I much prefer a tablet over a laptop in the booth and don't think I'll ever switch back.
I also swapped out the Mixon 8 Pro EQ knobs for DJ TechTools Chroma Caps. Definitely hard to view the stock ones in a dark booth.
I've been practicing with djay Pro a lot more frequently and have even used it at some smaller gigs. I'm using it with an iPad Air 4th gen and it hasn't given me any issues yet. I really hope they improve the Neral Mix feature soon. I love the fact that I can have the same playlists on my iPad and on my phone as a backup. Djay Pro still has a lot going for them.

Yes. Ive recently upgraded my iPad to one of the new Pro models and subscribed to both Algorithm DJ and Tidal with a Numark DJ2GO2 Touch as backup for my main Traktor rig. It's been absolutely great to be able to properly DJ streamed tracks unlike my previous setup of just Spotify. This controller loos the dogs balls if I want to upgrade that basic setup to something more complete. Only downside is that I don't want to switch to Serato. I'm a bit of a Traktor guru and I'm completely comfortable with the software. So a midi map for Traktor (If it's possible) would be ideal. But on the whole I'm very interested in this product, having previously been eyeing up the Denon SC-Live. Concise and informative review as always. Keep up the good work!
Absolutely brilliant, thank you so much for reviewing, being an OG Kontrol S4 user for years, this unit looks great now that I've moved on from Traktor. The only thing I wish it had was Loop Encoders, but your review has solidified this as my next control.

I’ve had the Mixon 8 for about 6 months now and I had to get an external light so I could see the mixer section during gigs. It’s a legitimate issue, but also super minor in the grand scheme. Returned the flx10 after 2 weeks because I love this unit so much.
See if you can find a glow in the dark skin might help.

Exactly to everything you said and I definitely agree that it IS an issue ANDI ALSO agree with you in regards to the fact that I really love this controller otherwise". I just pulled my chroma cap off my old mixer but they are kind beat f*** up soooo it was a little annoying to have this great new piece of hardware and have it look a little worn right off the bat. I have actually been posting on various web boards and such about this and now that I hear you had the same issue I think I am going to reach out to relook.
An external light is a smart move it will reduce eye strain. I run one on my Lightning desk

it would be great if all of these controller have 6 or 8 extra assignable knobs, so you can do a little more with custum mapping (stems and stuff etc)

Reloop puts out solid stuff. Adding this as an option if I keep the 4CH, still trying to decide on a 2CH for more compact setups that have the outputs that I like (XLR main is always hard to find on 2CH).
having 3 dedicated knobs for effects on each deck is ideal for Serato IMO. Shame on other brands for dropping this feature.
Great video as usual! I got the Mixon 8 because I've been using dJay Pro for gigs a lot more, and I needed something that integrated with it seamlessly (my DDJ-1000SRT wasn't cutting it for me). Plus I dabble with DJ'ing from my iPad, and it works perfectly. One glaring omission (for me, at least) is the absence of a CENSOR button. I'm used to that from Pioneer controllers, and it is a very handy feature. Apart from that, it's an awesome controller.
Yeah I agree with this. I loved using that feature on my older Denon Prime. Have you found a work around to censor on the Mixon ?
@@adriannoriega6801 not really. I guess you could use slip mode & "scratch out" the parts you wanna censor. Much more hand movement than a simple button
There is a censor „effect“ in the djay pro software. So you might wanna map it to any button you can spare. Mapping itself is easy in djay pro.

i have an M1 iPad and it works well with my MCX8000 and DJay.
i also use it with Mixtour and an external mixer as my AtoD converter Flow 8.
I think the M3 iPads may be the laptop replacment.
Can you use the neural mix functions directly with the deck? Or do you have to touch the iPad to access those stem control functions??
Might be a simple replacement for my 11 year old DDJSX.
The feel of it reminded me of the SX quite a lot - and that’s a controller I used heavily for a long time. So I think that’s one reason I found it so comfortable.

tha only main problem i expexience with reloop product is the main Out quality Audio seems on low volume gain
i had reloop mixon 4 for just two weeks and already trade it on ddj rev1

Can I run 2 iPad Pros on it a the same time both using DJ Pro? We currently use 2 iPads via the RCA analog inputs and would like to upgrade to the hardware cues and FX on the controller.

thats the one downside to djay but its worth it imo. the biggest thing for me over serato is the ability to have access to more than one streaming platform at a time
Chose this over the Rane four and I love all the features and the overall concept of the unit. However I’ve been having issues with it freezing mid set. Wish I could share a video of the issue. I just hate to go through the whole return/refund process. Anybody else experiencing this?
Freezing with djay pro? It happens to me when I play with the ipad. I think its an issue not with mixon 8 but the djay pro and so far cound not fix it. How about you?
Unfortunately I could not remedy the issue and it began to happen more frequent. The Mixon and DJpro would freeze and the Mixon would unsync from my mac. I actually took a video and attached it to my return for refund. Went with a Rane Four and not a single issue since.
I find the iPad Pro to be way more reliable and portable than a laptop.

I'm strictly Djay AI. I have Serato but don't use it. iOS is the future and Djay is ahead of everyone.

Initially I liked the idea. But when I see it costs more than a standalone SC live 4 which comes with computer and software? 650 would have been a more acceptable price. But ok, a famous dj has to be payed now as well to promote the gear...
Fairly strange they add a gnd and phono preamps on there but a non grounded power supply.. thats not your studio mate, thats just bad design and will always be a lucky shot 😅
Try to power mixon 8 pro with power bank ! It will be a competitor of omni duo
it works. I tried it because my previous controllers were bus-powered and i wanted to have a solution if i dint have access to an outlet. so i have these powdeom 140w battery banks. i use a wking speaker and. it works great
Great device but with a lot of difficult caveats.
#1 its price was too high competing with the DDJ-1000/SRT used and many willing to save for a FLX10.
#2 mirrored layouts are not favored anymore, some consider it a huge drawback
#3 wait time
#4 algoriddim DJ for many is difficult to move too still. It has so many good things going for it but the marketing team & Reloop are making weird moves to be different

I almost bought this based on your (and Mojax's) review...but there's just a few things missing for me. I really hope there'll be a future iteration that comes out faster than this current model did.
