Did I make a mistake? Issues with the Reloop Mixon 8 Pro

- This is just an update of my switch to DJ Pro using the Reloop Mixon 8 Pro. I've had some issues and am having to send it back for a replacement.

Despite this video, I still took a chance on the Mixon 8 Pro 2 weeks ago and had to return the first one immediately as the right jog wheel didn't detect movement (it would detect your touch when you touched the capacitive wheel, but wouldn't rewind or fast forward the song when you moved it).
They swapped it for a new one in-store and I had problems with sticking performance pads.
I read lots of articles and finally found an official comment from Reloop saying that it was an issue with transport and you can fix it by repeatedly running your fingers around the performance pad (not too hard). I did this on every single pad and now it seems ok. Fingers crossed I now have a solid unit as I love it already!!
It crazy how many people have had to return this controller. I'm glad you were able to get things sorted out.

I got my Mixon 8 last week and the right jogwheel was slipping out of the box, replacement just got here and it’s working perfectly
Thanks for making these videos, I was in the same boat as you looking at the rev5, then got tired of waiting and was honestly impressed with what I was seeing out of DJay pro so I really liked the fact that it could run Djay and Serato. On my end it's really worked like a dream, I haven't had the same platter issues you mentioned so hopefully the replacement does the trick for you. I liked your midi mapping as well that works slick. The only real issue I'm having with it is trying to find a case that fits it nicely lol
Yeah, I hope the replacement works better. I purchased a soft case off of Amazon but the Mixon 8 barely fits inside. If the replacement works out, I may look for a road case for it.
@logisticalstyles I'll let you know what I find case wise. I've found a few controllers with similar dimensions, I've got cases for them at work. I'm gonna test out the fit before I buy. I'm interested to see what you do with the launchpad midi. I was debating doing that or possibly the reloop neon/akai thing that's similar. I gotta find a good ipad usb hub that still charges. The one I got off Amazon doesn't seem to do the trick.
Thanks for sharing. I’m currently deep diving into my Mixon8 with DJay as well. So far I think DJay is amazing (coming from Serato and Pioneer). That new Rane PerFourmer that was leaked would be great if it worked natively with DJay.
I’m experiencing the same thing with the Mixon 8 Pro. I’m going to request a return shipping tag as well thanks for showing thin video. I tried the update and it still paused.
He DJ’s I just left a comment, afterwards I did a little research. I placed the USB cord into USB B to download the firmware because it will only do so in that port. I restart my computer and turned off the controller.. I pressed onto the power button on the controller for a couple of seconds the lights started flashing the blue light on the jog wheels start going into motion and then on my computer it read this procedure will take a couple of minutes. So what I think is happening, the system is updating. After it finishes and the lights stops flickering, I’ll restart everything and will give an update.
I also have the Mixon 4 as well. I decided to purchase the Mixon 8 Pro because it had a four channel something that the Mixon 4 don’t have. I will send this Mixon 8 Pro back and get a different controller. Thanks again and good luck 👍

I think I found out what made our controller jog wheel delay. I’m always touching and pressing the buttons on this controller because I’m new at this. There’s a button in the front left of our board. You have a Mic 2 ( TSR ) and next to it is a push in button called ( CF Curve ) I’ve been toying around with it because I was curious about it. Well we all know what happens to sticky fingers, it makes a mess. I turned the button to 4 O’clock. And pushed it in. I pushed it back out and turned the knob back to 12 O’clock and now my jog wheel is playing right. I’ve been busy. I hope it works for you all…✌️😊

I noticed that when doing scratching it slips sometimes but never freezes. I dont do scratching that much so it dont bother me but it is still an issue which being caused by the firmware not mechanical this is what I think. I love the unit it is rock solid anyway. They may be fixing with further firmware updates.
Yeah, I loved everything else about it but I do a lot of scratching so I had to return it. I ended up getting a Denon LC6000 to use with my Rane Seventy mixer. It seems like the perfect combo for me.
I bought ai pro and the features are fantatsic however until it can read serato crates from external drives i wont be using in a live environmeny. Shame... Hopefully they can implement in the next future. Lots of djs would move across if they did...
The new one gonna have bugs too, I got one, sometimes it just do what it wanna do,
GM LOGIG, I have a question about transferring my saved or stored loops and cues for most of my library from my old windows laptop to my new laptop? I use serato dj pro but my music files are on my hard drive. When I download djay pro and serato dj pro on my “new” laptop; is it a smooth process to transfer files from my old laptop to my new one? Thank you brother for all the information and wisdom you share with us.🙏🏿🙏🏿👊🏿
I think you will be ok if you copy over the entire Music folder from the old to the new computer. You may have to point Serato on the new computer to look for the Music folder you copied over.
Any update on the replacement unit? One thing we need is 97%-99.9% stability to trust the hardware for a gig.
The replacement unit had the same issues. I sent it back and got a Denon LC6000 to use with my Rane Seventy. The Mixon had too many issues and after the second bad unit I was done.
Did you update firmware to latest? You can press shift and mode and that will change from eq mode to neural mix mode or I have mapped shift and cue for that function as it just seems more natural that way.
Yeah the very first thing I did when I got the controller was update the firmware. I’ll give the shift and mode thing another try but it didn’t work last time. Thanks!👍🏾

I've had the same issue with the left deck twice now with two separate Mixon Reloop 8s now... :/
Wow, that is crazy. I think they really rushed to get these out to the market but didn't fully test them.
I was just thinking , maybe it’s the music downloaded from RUclips music. I just troubleshooting. I just put in a external drivel with music not downloaded from RUclips music and I am not laving this problem now.
I just got my Mixon 8 today. The jog wheel displays do not work. I even tried to run it in service mode to check the firmware version. They don't work in that mode either. What a frustrating controller.

Reloop didn’t offer me any assistance with the issue. All they told me was to return it back to where I bought it from. I was really disappointed with their customer service.

I am sorry to report that after trying to troubleshoot and update the firmware there was no success. So I will call the company I purchased this controller from and request a return stamp to send it back.

@@rodneycaldwell1310 contact Reloop and they should be able to help. They have confirmed that this is most likely a mechanical issue.
I'm desperately trying to find out how to put my eq into stem separation mode (the reloop buddy controller did this out of the box)... have you figured out how to do it yet @Logistical Styles?
I don't have that controller any more but my current controller uses shifty + Cue buttons to activate EQ stems. I have the Pioneer Rev 5.
Could it be a bad unit?
Hopefully so. I'm waiting for ZZOUNDS to send me a return label for a replacement.
@@logisticalstyles I was considering the Mixon but I decided to hold off on switching to djay on my gigs and ended up getting the rev 5. Hopefully they add support for the rev 5 soon. My main setup is the rane four I don't think they will ever add support for it.

Yep, the firmware update is the first thing they tell you to do when you get the controller.
Im having the same issue, even after the update, the same issue on the same platter.
@@dollabilldodson5648try reinstalling firmware. I needed to update a couple of times to lock it in properly.

I’m still not sure. Reloop wants to send me a unit that will be fully tested. I’m very interested to see how this works when it doesn’t have glitches.
No it’s not just yours because I just got a mixon8 and used it at a birthday party last night and it just stopped the song for no reason 4 or 5 times and often loosing control at the jog wheel and doing all kinds of weird things, the mic level turned up the music volume 😕very disappointed
Thanks for saying this.I hate to be the only person complaining about an issue. I'm starting to see more example of this.
What I have noticed myself was that I needed to update firmware 2 or 3 times. I have to say I don’t have any issues now at all.
