    Few misinformation in the video
    1) Hideyoshi easily earn support of Nobunaga allies is not true. He had to do all the scheming (by taking custody on Oda's grandson Sanboshi-maru) and also had to defeat Shibata Katsuie, one of Nobunaga's senior retainer, before he could take control. Hideyoshi also had trouble to make Tokugawa his vassal that he had to marry his sister and send his mother as hostage to Tokugawa.
    2) The land of Hojo was given to Tokugawa, but he was not allowed to reside in Odawara. Instead Hideyoshi instructed him to develop an "empty land" that later will become the old days Edo. In other words, Odawara isn't Edo.
    3) Hideyoshi unable to become Shogun has nothing to do with him being a peasant. He took the title Kanpaku Denka which is SECOND in command after Emperor. For your info this title is way higher than Shogun, and usually be appointed to Court Nobel. Therefore before he could receive the rank, he bought the SURNAME Toyotomi which is one of the Noble family at the same social status as Minamoto, Taira, and Fujiwara.

In your video toward the end, you mention Hideyoshi was not appointed as Shogun because he was not a Samurai. I must humbly say that you are in error. Hideyoshi was indeed a samurai. At the time of his elevation to samurai, it was not unheard of for peasants from the ashigaru class to be elevated to samurai status for bravery and skill. Ironically as Kampaku, Hideyoshi would go prohibit movement between classes even though such social class fluidity allowed him to become a samurai, daimyo, and eventually kampaku. As you stated, Hideyoshi relegation to kampaku rather than shogun was due to his lack of Minamoto credentials, which was the same reason Oda Nobunaga was never elevated to shogun. And yet both were shogun in all but title. Nice video. Looking forward to the follow up

Sorry! It would be more accurate to say he was not born into the Samurai class by birth and had rather earned the designation through his skills and and actions in battle. You are absolutely correct with your explanation. Thank you.

I don’t know if this is true since I’m no history graduate or anything, but maybe this is why Hideyoshi attacked Korea, to advance to China so he can seize the mandate of heaven and become Emperor

It’s entirely possible! But I’m not quite sure the war was very well planned out. My sense is that he had a lot of hubris after having consolidated power in Japan and went into Korea thinking he would be successful just because he hadn’t lost many battles in his lifetime, which isn’t a very good way to judge future success. I wonder what other historians think on this issue.

@@JH4Everyone The outcome had a different end in which it weakened the Daimyo of Japan and helped Tokugawa Ieyasu fully control the Empire

He didn't waste his life even though he was not the Shogun, He held most of the power, As it's not important to sit on a throne or gaining some title makes you powerful, It's intelligence which makes a person powerful, Hideyoshi had managed to use the Shogun as his own puppet with wit and controlled and unified Japan and administrated the country without opposition later

Ahh yes the one who doesn't bother reading history, he holds the title of kanpaku or the chief advisor for the emperor And even received the Taiko.
He wasn't a shogun because of his hereditary line of not being a minamoto. But at the time he holds the country of Japan.

I understand what you're saying I definitely agree he tried to start a war with Korea twice killed his own family members which definitely doomed his own Clan all what he did was meaningless
