Agreed Tom Petty died way to soon. He looks so young here and it did make me tear up a little. Saw him in concert 6 times and it was always awesome. I will always miss him... my heart still breaks.
Whenever I am reminded of the musicians we have lost over the years I think back to the Righteous Brothers song "Rock n Roll Heaven". "If you believe in forever, Then life is just a one-night stand. If there's a rock and roll heaven, Well you know they've got a hell of a band"
Tom Petty helped write Roy Orbisons' last hit single, "You Got It" when they were in this band were together. It was #1 when he passed. I remember it well because he was my fathers' favorite singer. His father, my grandfather, passed two weeks after Roy did.
My dad loved Roy too. Of course I knew of him, but I didn't appreciate him just before he died. I played the song 'Not Alone Anymore' to death on the old school jukebox. First thing when I got to my after work beer joint, play that song, Nelson was there. I'm going to listen to it now, Roy hits those notes perfect. Cool your dad and grandpa caught the same bus to heaven that Roy did. Not really, but maybe you know what I mean. I think we get to hang with our heroes and loved ones when we pass. I want to meet Leonardo da Vinci, and the guitarist Fernando Sor. And be with my son again, I miss him a great deal. He's hanging with my parents, and Roy too, if my dad's hosting the barbecues. Long live Bob Dylan, USA! Saw him in NYC with daughter last December. Bob's getting old, but he's still great.
@Don P Yes, I heard about him turning 79. Somehow I didn't know he was that old, even though I've been listening to him for over 50 years. I took my 30 year old daughter to see him at the Beacon on Dec 3rd. To me it was half pilgrimage of sorts. I wanted to make sure she could tell her grandchildren that she saw Bob. She's a fan, not like me though, Bob is my numero uno. And Bob was great. There was a part in the concert that gripped me good, body moving, it was a little Grateful Dead like. I got naturally high, oh yeah, and there was a bar and I did 2 shots of Jameson while my daughter wasn't looking, I caught a nice glow. I can't smoke that pod stuff anymore, but it probably would have been cool. My dad got to see Roy, at the Lone Star Cafe on 13th street. And check this out, my dad also saw Roy Buchanan there, on my advice.
@Don P It was a nice concert. Cheap seats, $125 apiece, but good view. I listened to Bob since a kid but I didn't get him the 1980's. When I got him it hit hard. I can't really describe what 'get' him is, but something happened and it was great. He's a rare type of person. He ain't regular. I think God speaks through him sometimes.
@Don P Yes, Neil Young. I was telling my daughter we have to see him. I never saw him. I always liked him, but recently mostly from RUclips he grew on me big time. He's right behind Bob. And another guy who's great is Tom Waits. I say Bob, Tom and Neil in that order. If you don't Tom well I recommend his album 'Rain Dogs'. I left that tape in my car stereo for six weeks, it played over and over. Did that with some Bob too, 'Street Legal' and 'Slow Train', left the tape in the stereo. Masterpieces.
Best thing I ever heard about these guys. This is like some of the world's greatest chefs getting together to barbecue hamburgers and hot dogs. So true!

Truth! You just can't imagine how many damn hit songs/albums that Jim Keltner played on. You could do 500 videos on the great Jim Kelner's contributions to rock & roll alone. For our inquiring minded brothers & sisters: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Keltner Much peace & love, y'all...God bless!
The drummer is Jim Keltner. Just one of those great drummers like Ringo that everyone liked to use because he just sat back and did what they call "play to the song" instead of showing off.
Man, I totally forgot about the chair rocking in honor of Roy Orbison. What a small but amazing tribute to a legend. My favorite lyric is "Well it's all right, even if you're old and gray Well it's all right, you still got something to say Well it's all right, remember to live and let live Well it's all right, the best you can do is forgive." Orbison, Harrison and Petty are sadly no longer with us, to answer your question.
They had recorded the album prior to Roy Orbison's death -- the video later obviously. Roy Orbison had a beautiful and distinct voice, I would recommend you react to "Oh, Pretty Woman" (1964), or "Only the Lonely" (1960).
guicho gf, I could totally understand why. Has one of the most memorable guitar intros. The lyrics were so simple but it was Roy’s voice that made the song.
Grew up listening to Roy. My dad really enjoyed his music. And he wrote one of the most iconic songs of ALL TIME: Pretty Woman! Plus add in George Harrison and Bob Dylan - All Along The Watchtower, Knocking on Heaven's Door. Man, what a group. My God.
A nod to drummer Jim Keltner - how perfectly he backed this with a snare, a tambourine, and a kick. No electronics, no array of a zillion toms, just the basics.
They recorded this song with Roy Orbinson but, he passed away shortly after they recorderd the song . To pay tribute they kept the original track with him for the music video.
And to think, this amazing band started out as a casual weekend jam session at Tom Party's house. They soon realized they had something and went with it because they all liked jamming togather!
So sad to think it was near ‘The End of Line’ for a few of these beloved greats! Glad the remaining few are still among us!! Jamel, there were super, super stars among the Traveling Wilburys (sp?). That was a lovely reaction!
@@theplanetruth Well looks like you got me there ,so i googled Elvis quotes and found this one just for you .."Say something worth remembering" this is a quote from one of his vegas shows
Yep, Roy passed...he was the older one in the group. They continued on for awhile tho. Tom Petty - ruclips.net/video/s5BJXwNeKsQ/видео.html Traveling Wilburys and Mystery Girl It was also in 1988 that Orbison began collaborating seriously with Electric Light Orchestra bandleader Jeff Lynne on a new album. Lynne had just completed production work on George Harrison's Cloud Nine album, and all three ate lunch together one day when Orbison accepted an invitation to sing on Harrison's new single.[95] They subsequently contacted Bob Dylan, who, in turn, allowed them to use a recording studio in his home. Along the way, Harrison made a quick visit to Tom Petty's residence to obtain his guitar; Petty and his band had backed Dylan on his last tour.[96] By that evening, the group had written "Handle with Care", which led to the concept of recording an entire album. They called themselves the Traveling Wilburys, representing themselves as half-brothers with the same father. They gave themselves stage names; Orbison chose his from his musical hero, calling himself "Lefty Wilbury" after Lefty Frizzell.[97] Expanding on the concept of a traveling band of raucous musicians, Orbison offered a quote about the group's foundation in honor: "Some people say Daddy was a cad and a bounder. I remember him as a Baptist minister."[98] Lynne later spoke of the recording sessions: "Everybody just sat there going, 'Wow, it's Roy Orbison!' ... Even though he's become your pal and you're hanging out and having a laugh and going to dinner, as soon as he gets behind that [mic] and he's doing his business, suddenly it's shudder time."[99] Orbison was given one solo track, "Not Alone Any More", on the album. His contributions were highly praised by the press. Traveling Wilburys Vol. 1 spent 53 weeks on the US charts, peaking at number three. It reached No. 1 in Australia and topped out at No. 16 in the UK. The album won a Grammy for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group.[90] Rolling Stone included it in the top 100 albums of the decade.[100] Orbison was in high demand for concerts and interviews once again, and was seemingly ecstatic about it. He began writing songs and collaborating with many musicians from his past and newer fans, to develop a solo album, Mystery Girl. Mystery Girl was co-produced by Jeff Lynne, whom Orbison considered the best producer he had ever collaborated with.[101] Elvis Costello, Orbison's son Wesley and others offered their songs to him. The biggest hit from the album was "You Got It", written with Lynne and Tom Petty. It posthumously rose to No. 9 in the US and No. 3 in the UK.[41][49] In 2014, a demo of Orbison's "The Way Is Love" was released as part of the 25th-anniversary deluxe edition of Mystery Girl. The song was originally recorded on a stereo cassette player around 1986. Orbison's sons contributed instrumentation on the track along with Roy's vocals; it was produced by John Carter Cash.[102] Although the video for the Wilburys' "Handle with Care" was filmed with Orbison, the video for "End of the Line" was filmed and released posthumously. During Orbison's vocal parts in "End of the Line", the video shows a guitar in a rocking chair, next to Orbison's framed photo.[citation needed]
Thanks for the in-depth story. I knew some of it, but not the details. This was also around the time where Roy did his "Black and White" concert, which featured tons of huge names performing with him. During Pretty Woman, Bruce Springsteen joins him on guitar and you can see how excited he is to play with Roy.

Dear Lord wish we still had this kinda music today
To see Tom Petty singing "Happy just to be alive" is so sad. He too died a few years ago.
I miss him!! Saw in concert a few times...just wonderful.
Seeing him here looking like the kid in the room almost started the tears, then Roy's empty chair....
Agreed Tom Petty died way to soon. He looks so young here and it did make me tear up a little. Saw him in concert 6 times and it was always awesome. I will always miss him... my heart still breaks.
@@elizabethmills7277 I never saw him, but we had tickets for his last tour that we sold because of scheduling conflicts. Missed opportunity...
lovelovelove
3 of 5 have already travelled on. Roy, George, and Tom are already playing in rock and roll heaven's band.
They are spectacular! How blessed I feel to grow up listening to these guys individuals. And when they got together....heavenly.
he died of a heart attack soon after recording this song. That was Roy singing when they showed the chair and his pic. He died before the video
Roy Orbison is one of the prettiest tenor voices ever! Highly recommend In Dreams or both versions of Crying...the solo and duet with k.d. lang
Love both of those songs!
And the classic 'Pretty Woman'.
Whenever I am reminded of the musicians we have lost over the years I think back to the Righteous Brothers song "Rock n Roll Heaven".
"If you believe in forever,
Then life is just a one-night stand.
If there's a rock and roll heaven,
Well you know they've got a hell of a band"
"Not Alone Any More" is a beautiful, haunting Wilbury's track. Worth at least a private listen.
Ive been loving this song for many years. Such a classic.
Roy Orbison was only 52 when he died in 1988, he was also Elvis's favorite singer.
Tom Petty helped write Roy Orbisons' last hit single, "You Got It" when they were in this band were together. It was #1 when he passed. I remember it well because he was my fathers' favorite singer. His father, my grandfather, passed two weeks after Roy did.
ruclips.net/video/QNAVrQ96mpA/видео.html
@Don P
Yes, I heard about him turning 79.
@Don P
It was a nice concert.
@Don P
Yes, Neil Young.
Makes you think doesn't it? I am turning 55 - I grew up listening to these guys! Amazing and positive message! Forgive while you can my friends.
If you like this style of music, the whole album is just as good.
Both of the Travelling Wilburys albums are exceedingly good, great additions to any record collection.
Please stand corrected : "If you like....music, the whole album is just as good." 😊
Best thing I ever heard about these guys. This is like some of the world's greatest chefs getting together to barbecue hamburgers and hot dogs. So true!
Check out their list of music lots more I just requested my favorite Two🎶✌🎹 thanks again lots more blasts from the past ,I will be requesting ..... Peace out ✌🙏😊
Ender: What a great analogy!!
Well put.
Or even Steak and Lobster.
Jamel - You are literally being fed the Cream of the Cream of music! We’re so happy to give it to you!
Agree!!!! 💜💜💜💜💜
They just sent him to heaven ❤️✨🙏✨✌️💯
What a collection of amazing artists! Sadly, Petty, Harrison and Orbison have left us. We’re blessed to still have the great Jeff Lynne of E.L.O.
Man, after all these years, I still get a pang of sadness seeing Roy's chair. Very nice choices today, sir!
It was hard for them to do this video but they pushed through. Sadly, George, Roy & Tom are gone, but their legacies carry on in their music.
THIS DRUMMER HIS NAME IS "JIM KELTNER" ONE OF THE GREATEST STUDIO DRUMMER ALONG SIDE TO "JEFF PORCARO"
Truth! You just can't imagine how many damn hit songs/albums that Jim Keltner played on. You could do 500 videos on the great Jim Kelner's contributions to rock & roll alone.
For our inquiring minded brothers & sisters:
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Keltner
Much peace & love, y'all...God bless!
aka Buster Sidebury
Yup. Along with Hal Blaine, Russ Kunkel, Steve Gadd and the tragic Jim Gordon.
NOAH CASAS absolute legends
I wonder why Jeff didn't use Bev Bevan.
The drummer is Jim Keltner. Just one of those great drummers like Ringo that everyone liked to use because he just sat back and did what they call "play to the song" instead of showing off.
The voice of the one and only Roy Orbison... R.I.P. Roy, George and Tom....
Man, I totally forgot about the chair rocking in honor of Roy Orbison. What a small but amazing tribute to a legend. My favorite lyric is "Well it's all right, even if you're old and gray
Well it's all right, you still got something to say
Well it's all right, remember to live and let live
Well it's all right, the best you can do is forgive."
Orbison, Harrison and Petty are sadly no longer with us, to answer your question.
That made me cry.😔
They had recorded the album prior to Roy Orbison's death -- the video later obviously. Roy Orbison had a beautiful and distinct voice, I would recommend you react to "Oh, Pretty Woman" (1964), or "Only the Lonely" (1960).
Crying
"In Dreams"
You got it
Pretty Woman was the song that made me a fan of rock and roll at a very early age.
guicho gf, I could totally understand why. Has one of the most memorable guitar intros. The lyrics were so simple but it was Roy’s voice that made the song.
The amount of talent here is amazing. 5 of the great song writers of multiple generations !!
My God.
RIP George, Tom and Roy
The tribute to Roy Orbison always gives me pause. I miss him so much!
A nod to drummer Jim Keltner - how perfectly he backed this with a snare, a tambourine, and a kick. No electronics, no array of a zillion toms, just the basics.
These men were good friends & there were no egos with them
Good old great rock & roll music
Keep on keeping great music alive my brother
Roy Orbison; original Sun Records with Elvis, Johnny Cash.
True, but he was not part of the "Million Dollar Quartet" of Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash.
They recorded this song with Roy Orbinson but, he passed away shortly after they recorderd the song . To pay tribute they kept the original track with him for the music video.
It's Orbison's guitar in the rocking chair when his verse is being played.
Orbison was still alive when they filmed the video for "Handle With Care."
What a great band I remember back in 1988 I listened to vanhalen rush ozzy slayer wasp...and the traveling wilburys.....what talent.....👍✌🤟
I know this was from 2 years ago, but we will remember you Jamel for bringing joy and resurrection to the older great tunes!🙏💖
All that talent, jamming together. Simply wonderful!
It always surprised me that Dylan didn't have a solo in this song.
And to think, this amazing band started out as a casual weekend jam session at Tom Party's house. They soon realized they had something and went with it because they all liked jamming togather!
Roy Orbinson RIP
George Harisson RIP
Tom Petty RIP he wares the hat
Good music great musicians
I still cry when I see Roy's empty chair :'(
Roy Orbison's voice is like buttahhhhh so perfect. Captivating. Angelic.
So sad to think it was near ‘The End of Line’ for a few of these beloved greats! Glad the remaining few are still among us!! Jamel, there were super, super stars among the Traveling Wilburys (sp?). That was a lovely reaction!
A repoter once asked Elvis Presley how does it feel to be the greatest singer in the world ...He replied I dont know you would have to ask Roy Orbison
This is the most over used legendary quote that’s never been said.
Right after Einstein's quote on World War IV
@@theplanetruth that's for sure!
Play it again, Sam.
@@theplanetruth Well looks like you got me there ,so i googled Elvis quotes and found this one just for you .."Say something worth remembering" this is a quote from one of his vegas shows
Jamel, you look so bummed out over what's happening in your country right now. Appreciate everything you do brother! Love from up here in Canada
Best of the best
All legends and their voices ❤just harmonize so well
Me too, Jamel, me too. Every time I see that video, and that empty chair that Roy Orbison should have been sitting in, I cry.
Yep, Roy passed...he was the older one in the group. They continued on for awhile tho.

Traveling Wilburys and Mystery Girl
It was also in 1988 that Orbison began collaborating seriously with Electric Light Orchestra bandleader Jeff Lynne on a new album. I remember him as a Baptist minister."[98]
Lynne later spoke of the recording sessions: "Everybody just sat there going, 'Wow, it's Roy Orbison!' ... The album won a Grammy for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group.[90] Rolling Stone included it in the top 100 albums of the decade.[100]
Orbison was in high demand for concerts and interviews once again, and was seemingly ecstatic about it.
3 in the UK.[41][49]
In 2014, a demo of Orbison's "The Way Is Love" was released as part of the 25th-anniversary deluxe edition of Mystery Girl. The song was originally recorded on a stereo cassette player around 1986. Orbison's sons contributed instrumentation on the track along with Roy's vocals; it was produced by John Carter Cash.[102]
Although the video for the Wilburys' "Handle with Care" was filmed with Orbison, the video for "End of the Line" was filmed and released posthumously.
Shelter thank you that little bit of history. I had heard a little but with the info you supplied just filled in the blanks. Just think 🤔 what an impact those boys would have made if they had gotten together years earlier. The Traveling Wilburys were simply awesome, one of my very few favorites for only putting out a couple cds 💿. Thank you sir 🙏🙏🙏
Shelter Brainwashed was Georges' last album. It had to be completed by both Jeff Lynn and Dhani Harrison, but George had already laid out the vocals. Probably won't be reacted to, but check out Between The Devil And The Deep Blue Sea - ruclips.net/video/iMJEtLjnO7E/видео.html
This was a tribute to Roy Orbison, he died of a heart attack.
No it was not a tribute to Roy, he was alive when it was written. Roy Orbison sang in the song with them. He died before the video was shot, so they showed a photo of him when he was singing.
@@my3dviews Very true, he did die after the song was written. I was referring to the video being a tribute to Roy, not the song.
Classic song. A collection of legendary artists. ❤️. A song everyone can love.
Yes this song is so prophetic beloved music geniuses gone but not forgotten ..alive in the music they made for us.
Elvis was quoted as saying “I won’t follow Roy Orbison.”
Facts...
Why did he say that?
@@altheaharris Because he admired him greatly. A hard act to follow :)
Elvis is also quoted as saying, Roy Orbison is the best singer ever.
ELVIS said the only singer who intimidated him was Roy. No higher complament!
You should check out the Highwaymen- Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Chris Christopherson, Willie Nelson
Absolutely.
How I understand this song is; We are all dead in the end, so don't worry about the little things and just live your life. 💯
I recall when Roy died. A true loss. What a talent.
You should react to some Roy Orbison, he started out on Sun Records with Elvis and Johnny Cash, legendary performer
Yes please check out Roy Orbison. One of the best, unique voices of all time!
Actually Roy Orbinson started out at a little studio in Clovis New Mexico called Norman Petty Studios. That little studio also brought the world Buddy Holly and Waylon Jennings
Hey Jamel, here’s one for you: George Harrison - My Sweet Lord
Yes! And 'Something'
Good song, but The Chiffons won their day in Court. Copyright. My Sweet Lord. Same Song.
Brilliant songs, both,
A couple of George Harrison's 90s hits are also worth checking out including when we was fab and got my mind set on you.

I'm an English woman in my 60s so I think we grew up with the best music raw talent that just wanted an audience, now its all about the money fame glory.
A whole lot of talent riding in the railroad car!
Unfortunately 3 of those guys are gone from us. George Harrison, Tom Petty, and Roy Orbison. So glad you finally got to this! Thank you!
Bruce Borneman - I can’t believe Bob Dylan outlived them all.
I was fortunate enough to see Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers months before his death in 2017.
There is a city park in his hometown, Gainesville, Florida named Tom Petty Park. His older brother, Bruce and one of his daughters, Adria were there for the ceremony.
@@swiftslick Doesn't make much sense does it?
@@bruceborneman -- It's just an odd occurrence of events. Roy Orbison was 52 when he died, Harrison was 58, Petty was 66. Jeff Lynne is 72 years old . Bob Dylan is 79 though.
I love how they put Roy's guitar in the rocking chair. And showed a photo of him as his voice came in. Very classy. Such a great song by such talented musicians.
The empty rocking chair - represent the passing of Roy Orbison, R I P. Best voice ever.
Roy Orbison's "In Dreams." There's a part that really showcases his voice. You'll know it when you get there.
Francine you are so right!
Can play and sing that whole song, except for one little bit....God his voice was amazing.
My favourite of Roy’s, together with scarlet ribbons which was my dad’s favourite and always reminds me of him. Good call!
I watched roy's tribute singer in recliff a few years back he got about 99.5% of roy's skill just could quite get the in dreams high note.
