Increase back flexibility and release tension with this foam roller stretch for dancers

  • I love this foam roller stretch to release my back when it is stiff and to increase back flexibility overall!
    Tips:
    1. Do some core strengthening before you do this! (crunches, hundreds, etc.)
    2. This is not pictured in the video but because the roller rolls (hehe) you can also try rolling it to different parts of your back (upper, mid, lower) while you lie on it.
    Modifications:
    1. If you lie on the roller and your head does not touch the floor you can place a pillow underneath it, from there you can try a smaller pad and work up to eventually using the floor.
    2. If using the roller feels like too extreme of a stretch this can also be done with a big ball under your back instead.
