Prime remastered was my first Metroid experience and I instantly fell in love. Went to dread next and,my goodness. This series is impeccable. I can’t believe it took me this long to get into Metroid considering I’ve been into Zelda forever. Im sooo looking forward to playing the older games and figuring out the roots of the games. hopefully I end up borrowing my friends GameCube and wii soon, so I can get through prime 2 and 3 in time for prime 4!!

The existence of Prime Remastered makes me not worry about Prime4 anymore.
Nintendo has done this in the past where they utilize the "remaster" motif on older games while using it as a basis for a newer game, either visual practice or engine practice or both.
Prime Remastered's assets are REALLY well crafted. I'd be surprised if they didnt use some of it in Prime4, most notably the Samus model.

I think it depends on how far along they are compared to how far along they are with a potential Switch successor. If they know or think they are gonna have a new console out around the Holidays or early next year, they might wanna push Prime 4 to be a cross console game, both a Switch and a release title for the new console, but if they are more than a year out on a new console I'd think (or hope maybe more like) that we will see Prime 4 in time for the Holidays, with trailers starting some time this spring/summer. The reason people speculate Prime 4 might be imminent is that a while ago there was a very thorough and specific leak that described the Metroid Prime remaster to a T - including the fact that it would be just the first game, and that it would have totally remade graphics. That same leak though, said that the game was ready... like a year and a half ago. Numerous other leaks all suggest that Nintendo sat on the finished Metroid Prime remaster - even though last year would have been the games' 20th anniversary.
So the question is...if they've been sitting on it, why release it now as a shadow drop? With a Zelda game already holding up the first half of the year? For many, the answer is that they were timing it to serve as an "on ramp" / hype generator for MP4.

I see that question like this:
The game may not be anywhere into the dev phase yet, and the question is to gauge how many of the people that bought Prime, want Prime 4. Think about it. Prime is selling like hotcakes and getting rave reviews. If all those buyers were to show they wanted 4, they will make it a priority. It could also be that Retro has a log of games to do and Nintendo want to know whether Prime 4 should be at the forefront or can be sat on while they do something else first. Personally, I would like to see remasters of both Echoes and Corruption before Prime 4 gets released, as despite me loving Prime, I never got to play 2 or 3.

Idk, with how long Nintendo didn't want to give Metroid another chance, how long it got put in the hole with things like Starfox, I feel like the Metroid Prime 4 wait isn't entirely a good option. Confirmation they're still working on it, great, but their silence is already confirmation imo 'cause waiting this long to tell us it's cancelled would only go poorly.
No, I feel like Nintendo is testing the waters, I think them not making the physical copies of the Prime 1 Remaster was already a big sign that Nintendo STILL doesn't have faith in Metroid's success levels. By doing a survey like this they're gathering info on the market for Metroid- is it only successful now because of the wait for Prime 4? If so then if Prime 4 is coming closer to release it's not worth it to do the other games. But if there's genuine interest in the series, maybe it is worth it.
I feel like they're just testing the waters with how long Nintendo put the series in the vault never to be seen again, heck with how much money is going into Prime 4s development (what with restarting an entire development cycle on the game maybe from scratch we're not sure) I wonder if Nintendo is at the stage of considering axing the entire thing if Metroid can't prove it'll have been worth the cost

It also asks about which games you played and if you liked the 2d or 3d more.
IIRC, they did a similar one with dread (2d 3d).

My prediction is a trailer after the TotK train slows down, so Holiday 2023. With a tentative release date of late 2024. That’s a 5 year development cycle, which I think to be perfectly reasonable. Now, I also think that may be a bit optimistic if it weren’t for the MP Remaster release recently. That signals to me that MP4 marketing is spinning up, which indicates that MO4 is entering its final stages of development.

Those private, cherry picked user surveys are usually very helpful. I had surveys about Pikmin and Kirby that also were very close to the announcement of the next game in the franchise. Usually only 2-3 months away.
They basically restarted development again from scratch. 4yrs is not super uncommon, to be honest and the fact they brought Dread and Prime Remastered shows their interest to establish Metroid as a big non--niche franchise.

Release remastered versions of Prime 2 & 3 since they already have all the assets from Prime 1. Then release Prime 4 as a launch title to Nintendo new console to fully grasp the potential of the games graphics instead of the Switch old hardware that can barely handle fully optimized games right now.

I am ready to bet money on the fact that Metroid Prime 4 will be released on the new console, maybe even WITH the new console, BOTW style, basically. It will most likely be on Switch as well, but I'm confident that it's being programmed for the new system.
The way I see it, it was supposed to be for Switch, but time passed and now they decided to upgrade it, because by the time it's ready, the Switch will be kinda dead.
But now they need more time, so they decided to slowly resurrect the franchise and slowly feed the audience games to play. I wouldn't be surprised if Prime 2 and 3 will recieve the same treatment and would come out next year (even if, honestly, I discovered tbe franchise with Dread and now that I've played Prime I'm STARVING for Echoes).

I think Metroid Prime Remastered releasing itself was a sign that MP4 is nearing completion. Everybody knows it was rumored for YEARS and never came, until last month when they finally announced and shadow dropped it. I think they were waiting for a specific reason, and I think that reason was some sort of development milestone for MP4. I would not be surprised if the devs at Retro didn't pop a bottle of champagne that day.

Two things I know about Nintendo: They don't rush games, and they don't do things that aren't on purpose. I'm hoping that MP4 is taking all the time it needs to get developed properly and done right, and I'm confident that Nintendo including that option as a response is definitely on purpose. They're stealthily creating hype for it.

I truly hope you’re right but I fear that you might be reaching…I don’t think that this survey is made by the Nintendo you’re thinking of, I think the survey was by the UK department of Nintendo, probably like usual some marketing campaign just collecting feedback, they most likely don’t really care to strongly about the % of what people answer, like most likely there are questions on there to recommend the game and a rating you’d give it etc.
Now I have some serious doubts MP4 is gonna even be on the Switch, guessing it’ll be pushed to next gen Nintendo consoles at best 😕

Retro Studios was very adament about this, that it doesn't work. Some time during the development for Metroid Prime 1 they shifted to first person, away from third. But some of the animations were already done at that point, hence you have some third person transition animations etc.
I think this is still the case in all honesty.

I'm seeing pretty much everyone making videos on this nintendo UK survey because "They finally mentioned Prime 4 for the first time since the restart!" As if they didn't also reassure us they were still working on it during E3 2021. Only reason no one made videos on that is because Metroid freaking Dread got announced 10 seconds later.
And that's just the big N, Retro themselves have been putting out job listing for metroid prime 4 for years, and we got that twitter banner art last year.
I'm glad that Nintendo acknowledged it again, but I don't feel like this is worth everyone making a video about it.
