This is the only way we are going to get these specific crimes to stop. Thank you Mr Policeman.
Definitely prevents recidivism 👍
Treat them like horse thieves
I don't see how it's still legal for scrap metal companies to buy CC's. This is a problem all over the country, drug addicts looking for quick cash, and scrap yards profiting off of our stolen goods.
Thank you officers. That was a pay off for my catalytic converter too

They should have a mandatory prison sentence for those that purchase the stolen converters.
20 years minimum sentence.
They already have a charge for that. "Recieving stolen property."
Should be federal charges. Because it’s a mandated federal part for a car to be made and sold in the United States.
There’s no way to tell which ones are stolen and which ones aren’t.

that is right i saw a kid about 13, run into a gas station and steal a candy bar. Needed a cop around to shoot him. i seen a homeless person steal a hot dog and a run. NO cops to end this man, its disgusting. We need the death penalty enacted for such crimes. if you steal you need to be put to death. Speeding also needs to be the death penalty. Its bad enough you can not be put in prison for not signalling a turn, that should be 25 years to life. ANY theft with a fire arm, should be summery execution by the arresting officer. Then people will get the idea that any crime is punishable by death. TOO include children and the parents. Death is the only answer to crime. IF you do the crime do not be afraid to die. Soon as the police can pull you out of a car and execute people for DUI it will stop. Execution is the only answer to non payment of child support, do not pay, execute them, then they will learn some thing, death sucks.
One day soon police will get the power to execute DUI as soon as the meter is over the legal limit, POW.. no more DUI.

I grew up in Sugarland. Moved away for school, overtime so many things have been built up and many people have moved into the area, times have changed. One thing that’s always been consistent is the law-enforcement there and I’m glad they’re continuing to do the amazing work of protecting our society.
Katy used to be that way. But since Sheriff Nehls left +lots of people from elsewhere have moved in, Katy crime has risen.
We wouldn’t have this problem if the buyers of stolen converters were held accountable with real jail time and heavy fines.
I'm very saddened to hear, that the other suspects got away.
Great reporting. Sugarland police did a great job too!
Crazy how people willing to risk they life over 60 bucks
Honestly, I hit like even before I knew that the suspect had a weapon. This isn't a victimless crime. Getting your cat stolen can ruin peoples lives. It warms my heart to see one less of these trash bags roaming the earth.
@Aysha Marks Those who have never been thug-slammed are our moral superiors. Thank you for your saintly counsel. Best regards. 😎🖖
@Aysha Marks are you that dense?
@Aysha Marks yes in can ruin someone’s life. It can cost up to $2,000 to replace a catalytic converter, and that not taking in to account the other parts that they destroy in the process of cutting it out. Your car can’t pass emissions testing without it so your car is not road legal. Most people can’t afford that. In some cases they cut part of the car frame to remove the cat and the car is deemed unrepairable and the car must be scraped. So yes, 🖕these thieves! He got what he deserved.
@Aysha Marks if you live in a state that requires emissions equipment you will be out thousands and unable to drive until its fixed
@Aysha Marks Your an idiot! I make my living with my car… of course it can!

Good police work, good drone work. Stupid to lose your life for catalytic converters and a few bucks. The guy would have probably been out on bond in a day or so being that it is theft. Smh.
I think catalytic converter theft needs to be a mandatory 10 year sentence, or more guys should end up like this. Either way it will deter others from trying to make a quick buck at the expense of thousands for offers
@@triptheroad Its the scrap yards that are the problem. They know whats stolen. Mechanics are the only guys who would get these in numbers. Look up the system NY has for cats.
Good. People are going to have to learn to keep their thieving hands off other people’s property. It can cost hundreds up to 1500 to replace a small converter.
They need to target the recycling shops purchasing the stolen "cats", that will really put a stop to the crime spree.
Next the place that's recycling these converters needs to be charged heavily for every one they pay for.

If this happened often enough maybe people would quit stealing other people's stuff.
This crime should be a mandatory death penalty nationwide.
The businesses willingly buying these stollen catalytic converters should be charged to the highest extent of the law along with pawn shops that willingly buy stollen goods. I see to many of the same businesses involved in purchasing stolen goods and nothing being done about it. If it was you or me, we'd be charged with some sort of crime. No name given for the "suspect", I wonder why? The reporter said that police were looking for three others involved in this case and to let police know if you have any information abought them. If the name of the "suspect" were known by the general public, wouldn't that make it easier, and more likely for others with knowledge of the "suspect", and their partners in crime to come forward with that information, or is there some other reason for the "suspects" name to be withheld?

Let this be a start to the lesson. About to take you to school be there at 9:00 cause you gone learn today. People are tired of this mess. Everybody is hiring, bruh. Go get a job instead of stealing from good, law abiding people who actually work! I said what I said. Bringing your criminal 🍑 onto somebody else's property will sho'nuff get you wazzed off. One well placed round, my friend... one well placed round.
If these thieves are the product of an inadequate Mum and hit and run Dad they do not learn their lessons. When mum is on welfare they do not learn how to earn a living. They usually learn there are no consequences for minor misdemeanors and that someone else is to blame for their plight. The solution is to crack down on single parenting ... not to empathize with it.
@@leolennox1209 It should also start by largely eliminating benefits for those that stay on public assistance, for housing assistance, food stamps, welfare, etc - by kicking them off after a fixed period of time, like a year. Can't teach responsibility by rewarding them for irresponsibility by giving them money that they didn't earn; ... Heck, I'd go so far as to say, if on public assistance, and one gets knocked up again, OFF FOREVER !!!
All handout programs where money is dispensed should be required to perform public service, like cleaning parks, cleaning the streets, picking up trash, etc at a federal minimum wage rate. Receive $500, then work 70 hours to earn it. Don't like the rate- go get a better job not at US taxpayer expense.
It's a very good idea but it won't sit well with the Democrat voters that's for sure!

Why did they use a Medivac to transport the suspect to the hospital? There needs to be a rule about when being shot and committing a crime to be a low priority rescue.
call an Uber , they don't deserve an ambulance
criminals dont care about rules
Ambulance driver should drive like ,slow boat to China
Apparently this is what's gonna happen because it seems like it's too hard to pass laws that require recycling yards to document where, when, why, and who they are buying used catalytic convertors from. Let's face it........ if thieves had no place to sell the darn things, they wouldn't be stealing them.
This was a positively catalytic event.

Doesn't the phrase, "returned fire" imply the suspect fired first? Why didn't the reporter or police state that the suspect fired his gun?
suspect brought out the heat and it turned into fire. if you can't take the fire, keep cool
Not too sure but as everyone knows the moment you pull out a gun on an officer the officer has a right to shoot and kill you for self-defense so I don’t think it really matters. Clearly the criminal was in the wrong
@@Jjflokn I agree with you that if the officer was threatened with the gun there is no requirement to wait to be shot at before taking defensive measures, but it would be nice if the police did not state something happened when it did not. I was wondering which was it, did the criminal shoot first or not? Cameras have shown some police have a history of painting events to make their actions look reasonable when in fact they were not. It would be nice to have more detailed reporting.
Because there was no gun.... that's a tactic they use to justify taking a person's life over a catalytic converter.
Yeah just another lie from the police. Weird bc it doesn't even seem necessary to lie in this case, but it's so habituated in them I guess he couldn't help himself.
