Seattle police arrested some thieves who they say were trying steal "in bulk" from Costco. Seattle police put an end to the shoplifting spree as dash cameras and body cams recorded. Loss-prevention officers recognized what was going on inside the Costco store around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and called police. The suspects were gathering up laptops and other items, preparing to escape out a fire exit. A getaway driver was waiting outside. Police got in position and waited until the would-be thieves came through the fire doors. Police arrested the 30-year-old man and 21-year-old woman.
The 18-year-old getaway driver was also arrested. Investigators believe they hit a different Costco earlier the same day-- -stealing more than $2,000 worth of electronics. Loss-prevention officers told detectives they'd had run-ins with one of the suspects before and he'd had a knife with a seven-inch blade in his pocket. Officers say the suspect had the knife when he was arrested Wednesday, as well. He was booked for investigation of robbery, and the women were booked for investigation of theft. They were all taken to the King County Jail.

Though this happened over 5 years ago, watching it now still brings a big smile on my face. That was just pure magic seeing the thieves taken down. It must have been a shock to them when they opened the doors into the literal long arms of the law.

I used to work for Lowes. The entrance door was configured to open when someone approached it from the outside but not from the inside. A guy grabbed a bunch of tools and tried running out the entrance. The doors didn't open and he hit them so hard he knocked himself out. He just laid there until the police showed up. They had to wake him up to put him in the police car.

For anyone wondering, those doors have a device on it that has "delayed egress" meaning you can't open the door until about 30 seconds has passed. It sound an alarm before it opens to alert employees. Most often used in police stations to prevent inmates from just running out the door but in this case its used to prevent this exact scenario.
Sometimes the delay is only 15 seconds

Little clarification from me. Those doors have relays that can be connected to external alarm and annunciation systems so that when someone tries to open it it can trigger other systems in the building. They also have inputs that are connected by the codes to the fire alarm systems. When fire alarm goes off it triggers that input and the door releases the lock right away without any delays.

When I managed a software store in the late 1980's (before it was downloaded or ordered online), I used to keep a camera handy to take photos when I suspected a shoplifter was waiting for me to get distracted (I took photos nearby like I was taking pictures of a display). A couple of times this caused my suspect to depart the store abruptly. Later, when the shoplifting and return for cashback scheme was broken up (I also figured out how they were doing this and got the address for a refund by check), the police found a notebook at the residence with a list of our stores up and down California, and next to my store it said, "Watch out."

I work at Costco so let me tell you how the security door works. You press it to open, it will siren and you have to wait for 15 seconds before you can open the door.. i surprise they had the balls to just stand there for 15 secs waiting while everyone watches them and hearing the siren

I used to work at a Tucson Costco...I have personally seen thieves do this and get away clean. It pisses you off because the stage everything and steal thousands in merchandise. This is a one of a kind thing but is VERY welcome!!

Used to work at Best Buy and had this happen to us. Thieves were going along the 401 hwy and stopping at each best buy. I worked in loss prevention and we had the police waiting for them at the emergency exit. Was amazing.

For situations like this, the police department should have one officer on staff who knows how to play the trombone. That officer, along with his trombone, should be brought along on situations like this, so that when the doors open, the trombone officer can just loudly go "Whaa' whaa' whaaaaaa."

Yeah I’d love to know if the DA dropped the charges!! I’ve seen so many cases where the officers do their jobs & the criminals are charged but the DA or local prosecutor drops all charges which kills the morale of the police & it makes criminals more likely to do it again since there are no repercussions!!
In california, governor newsom passed a law to make shoplifting legal w/o arrest.
The most interesting thing about this is that it's Seattle and the police actually arrested thieves for stealing things instead of for hate speech.

Wow Thanks for GOD almost everything in my country in Saudi Arabia and the other three Arabic gulf union countries Qatar UAE and Kuwait is for free for citizens like education hospitals universities electricity water internet and when someone gets married he gets 200000 dollars and a house from the government for free because marriages here are very expensive and we have the highest monthly payments but sometimes it is not fair enough because women workers gets more monthly payments than men but the other things is perfect

anthony kobe man, I watched it over and over, and I can't say for sure if it was one of the officers. Looks like they were having themselves a good ole time because they knew they had some special guest coming to visit. Either way, that was a total epic arrest! Glad these bastards were nailed!😁
