    *Description:*
Redding, California - On September 12, 2024, 38-year-old Fredrick “Rick” Phillips, was stopped by an officer with the Redding Police Department (RPD), on Bechelli Lane for a speeding violation. Phillips refused to identify himself as required by law for a traffic violation. Phillips was advised by the officer that he was being placed under arrest. Phillips became combative and refused to follow orders given by the officer. During the struggle, Phillips made several attempts to put his vehicle into drive. Phillips was ultimately taken into custody with the assistance of two citizens.
RPD said that before being booked into the Shasta County Jail, Phillips was transported to a local hospital where he was cleared by a medical doctor. RPD said that misinformation around the arrest as well as allegations of excessive force the officer that spread online alleged that Phillips had been struck 10 times by the officer. RPD said the body cam footage shows that these allegations are inaccurate.

What a crying shame that it takes 2 officers to deal with one guy because he doesn’t want to give his ID to a police officer who in turn would have GAVE him his ticket so he could continue with his break, job, or whatever he was supposed to be doing…

Sometimes I really ask myself if people in the US have a minor IQ than the rest of the world. If you know how the police in the US works, you better follow their commands, resisting is sooooo stupid, you can get shot or killed because of in some states very untrained officers. This one is an example of very good police work. Why people are so dumb over there ? I mean you guys are doing a lot more of patriotic Police, Army etc. than e.g. the german police but this situation would never happen in Germany or Europe because everyone has so much respect of the authorities that you don´t even think about something like it and in europe you usually don´t play with your life if you just run in US you definitly do. Suchs Situations are so mindblowing for us. Do americans care less for their lifes ? I really don´t understand it.

The cop shouldn't resort to physical contact over a ticket, seems like a better route would be taking a picture of the driver, a picture of the license plate and vehicle, and mailing the driver a speeding citation. It's crazy how cops can pull someone out of a vehicle for petty reasons. Try asking a corrupt cop for their license so you can check out their background.
We need cops, but they injure and unalive wayyyyyyyy too many people, and most is over petty crap. Like if a cop pulls you over for a broken tail light, you pull over and jump out of the car and start running, the cop won't just let you run away and mail a citation to the owner of the vehicle, chances are they will open fire on you for trying to get away. Cops are fkn ridiculous.

While I don't know the full implication of what sovereignty pertains to, in the case of driving a motor vehicle. It is clear that claim of sovereignty is used to bypass the fact that they likely don't have the legal authority to be on the road. Or in other words unable to obtain or a revoked license. What baffles me more is why anybody would think that this is effective in any sense of the law. It only leads to things being worse for them like this arrestee whom resisted and obstructed.
