This is a video tutorial overview of the DHCP Relay Agent. A Relay Agent, also known as IP Helper, is used help pass DHCP broadcast packets across a router to reach a remote DHCP server. This video covers how to configure the Routing and Remote Access service as well as adding the DHCP Relay Agent service.

Good video, please help with the following.I have a Untangle Firewall router,a Windows server 2008 R2 as DHCP.One LAN only.
I wanna create vlans with dhcp.If I create the differents pools on the current dhcp server,how would a client that belongs to a certain vlan get the correct ip address from the dhcp server ? How ould the untangle firewall server know how to route it to the correct client pc ?
@@itgeared Thank you.So to confirm,The relay will be created on the windows server 2008,not on the untangle firewall ?The untangle firewall is my gateway.Should I also create the vlans on the untangle ? How would I create the vlans on the windows server ? Sorry man I am new to vlans.
A DHCP server assigns the appropriate IP configuration from the correct scope because when a Relay Agent is used on the gateway of that VLAN, it inserts the subnet information into the packet, specifically in the GIADDR attribute. DHCP services can easily service hundreds of subnets.
Buuhuuu I can't find video How I have to setup DHCP for this to work, what scope to use and etc.. :(
