Very helpful! Couldn't figure out why my relay wasn't working and realized my Router1 had no clue about the other network (the reason you setup RIP), so it had no way to get that Offer back to the client. I felt so dumb haha. You're so right that if you don't have a good understanding of IP addressing/subnetting, good luck on the test, let alone in the real world. Appreciate the video!
You sir are a natinal treasure, not only is this information presented is a way which learning is now secordary to getting it done for real, thaks as always to you allso thanks for your constant vigelance to the gaining of knowledge.
If Router R1 & R2 is replaced with a layer 3 Switch, will they act as same as router does. Will they not pass the broadcast? in that case, is there a need for IP helper in Layer 3 switches as well?
Does this work if we implement NAT on both LANs? I configured the DHCP server with a static NAT map to a public address. Also, the clients in the other LAN were configured through NAT with the overload command. The IP addresses wouldn't get assigned. Any help?
If you have multiple vlans, you will go into your router, then into your vlan interface (Could be vlan 10) int g0/0.10 and write ip helper-address (then the ip of your dhcp)
I hope you're still active..... can you make a vid about 1 dhcp server connected to a switch and the switch has 2 routers connecting to it? please, im dying to know to learn about this one (if this is possible), because I tried doing it but only one router gets the IP from the DCHP server, the other one was assigned by the APIPA. Thank you in advance!!!
You need to make sure that when you create the IP Helper address, that it is pointing to the DHCP server and that you configure the IP Helper address on the interface that is facing your LAN.
I only have 1 router in my lab so I thought I could ude ip helper-address directly to link to my dhcp since Ih had no rip but it's not working at all...
My audience knows me and the way I teach. They are used to it. The most important thing is weather I give out the correct information. The audience can always lower the volume.
The first time when I see the video, I thought the Rock gave us the lesson of DHCP
exactly why I came in
lol

Todd Lammle messed up big time on his DHCP Relay configuration from the Lynda videos. He left the whole RIP configuration out. Thank you Laz!

Great catch.

Hi Doctor, its very clear and easy to remember the way how you teach the concepts. Thanks
Thank you Sanesh... that is my goal!

Hi Sir, does it work for multiple vlans? I really need the answer...

Can IP helper address be configured on a switch?
on a subnet 20, if that break into 2 separate vlan is the router still using the same config?
How is the switches ports configured?
Can you help me with a cisco dduopc? I finished it but it has half a new
In this scenario how to provide ip address to vlan 10 automatically??????
MY QUESTION IS THIS : DID U PUT AN IP ADD TO THE SERVER BEC I AM HAVING ISSESWITH THE APIPA

DHCP Relay is this same IP Helper ?
Yup
I love how you yell so much. You need to know IP addresses LOL. Great video btw
i have a test lab I am having issues with DHCP relay. Not using a router but using a multilayer switch to server for routing. unable to figure out,
I only have 1 router in my lab so I thought I could ude ip helper-address directly to link to my dhcp since Ih had no rip but it's not working at all...
I wonder how many keyboards a mouse he breaks with these big greps. by the way Great videos (:
Thanks!!!
tricep pushdown tutorial?
no r not explaining urself . we still need an ip to the server
I don't understand the question? ....please elaborate
How I can download the lab?
what if you have multiple vlans?
I hope you changed your smoke detector battery after finishing this video.
Did it point for point like you , but it don´t work.
Good video
Your audience is not deaf, so do not shout. It’s very annoying when trying to lean the subject.

Why cli not Gui
Why you keep screeming whe you are lecturing?!
I speak loud and clear, to make sure I get your attention. Lower the volume.
