The sun rises is one of the absolute best final boss themes when considering the context (and it plays right after this)

The spider queen' s theme is my favorite.
Actually its the amaterasu theme cause your the real final boss and you gonna beat Yami very hard. One of the rare game when the hero ost is used in a fight

Okami has the honour of the first game that got me teary eyed and empowered at the same time. The scene that plays during this theme is an incredible moment and the fight that follows becomes an emotional release.
I say this piece reflects our fleeting time on this earth and the memories we make with the people we meet. At the time I first heard this song, I was living my fondest memories. Every time I hear it, I remember those times.

The Okami soundtrack is just as stunning as the art, absolutely gorgeous game through and through.
I wholeheartedly believe that there will never, EVER, be a game like Okami, ever again. The game is packed with so much soul and so much emotion, it's like the stars aligned to craft it. Everything from the artwork to the music is flawless.

Okami really left an impression on me when i first played it wayyy way back when it was first released. To this day, i really have not found a game as unique as Okami in terms of not only art style but gameplay mechanics as well. Of course it need not be said that the story and music of Okami is exceptional.

Okami is so full of heart. Its understandable, but also such a shame so many bounce off the horrendously slow opening hours, because it really is a gripping and rewarding experience if you manage to stick with it. It's a game that just gets better as it goes, and when you finally hear Reset, that's something you can really feel, I think. It inspires a moment of reflection.
God okami is such a good game, one of my top favorite ps2/Wii era games. The artstyle is amazing, the music is good, and the brush mechanics were fun.
Really appreciate you giving this game your time. It's one of the only games to really be an artistic masterpiece in every sense of the word and it's so unfortunate how underrated the game is.

I was so bummed out when they took out the original song version in the remasters.
So when I do make it to the ending again, I play the English cover of the song on RUclips so that I can sing along to it.

There's 2 official versions of the music. The one sung by Ayaka Hirahara is in the original PS2.
And the version with no song in the remasters.
And of course, there's an English fan cover by Annapantsu that I like. ^^

@warriordinag No. It's never came back after the original PS2.
The WII was the first remaster version. And a lot of the original assets got lost, so they had to re-build things in the game from scratch. And for some reason, they couldn't get the rights to use the song again either.

Omg yes! Okami music is amazing! I really recommend "The Sun Rises/The Rising Sun" (the final boss theme). I love this game and it's music so much... It's good to see it get the recognition it deserves

This is, by far, my favorite track from Okami, not just for the sound, but also for the moment it plays at. I can't play this part of the game without tearing up, no matter how many times I play it. I still own my original PS2 copy, even.
Okami is a work of art, and I loved listening to Reset, be it the 'Thank You' version, or the vocal version. This game and its soundtrack deserves alot more love.
By far, the worst thing about the HD rereleases are how they removed this song from the credits and play some remix of the Coast ost.
When i stumbled over this game many years ago, i was alone, stuck and away from friends and family. I initially thought it looked like a silly and boring game, but i played it because i didn't have anything better to do.
I loved it, and after finishing it i immediately played again with newgame+. I will always treasure this game for what it did for me.
Each time i hear this music, i don't only hear an epic boss music. i hear ama's will to free the land she protects, the drums are her paws hitting the ground when she runs, the flute flows like the wind carrying sakura petals, the chords are her will to fight back
You have to check out the rest of Okami's Soundtrack. It's one of the most artistic games I've ever played and has an utterly beautiful soundtrack. I recommend The Sun rises, Heavenly Tribe of Kam, Red Helmet's extermination, Dragon palace and honestly all other tracks xD It's also all heavily based on japanese folk music

I cant wait for you to experience more of the OST, and I sincerely hope you finish the game. I beat the game way back on the PS2 and it was the first game I'd ever cried for, both for finishing it and that I couldn't experience it again, and for the emotions i felt for the characters and the story. It's powerful, and the music makes it that much grander.

Never got more than 15 hours into okami, just got sidetracked by life and other games. This was so beautiful, makes me feel peace, even when my mind is usually full, the melody just cleared everything to the side for a little bit.
You missed out a lot of good music, you didnt even see 1/3 of the game.

Okami is such a stunning game. The way they made everything look like a stylised painting is incredible enough, but the way the music reaches into your heart at points is just genius. I still tear up a little when I watch the cutscenes where you drive out the evil from a region, it's just so beautiful. It's well worth finishing just so you can experience the parts of the game you haven't gotten to along with the music for that moment.

All time favourite game. Measures up to all the modern ones. Doesn't matter that the difficulty is low, after all life is more enjoyable if the challenges are reasonable.

I still have the PS2 version and it is so amazing! The fact that I still have it on PS2 (still works!) while also being able to play it and experience it on HD version on pc is on itself is a blessing 😊
Okami is a game that I first found on a flea market as a teenager. It looked cute and it was dirt cheap, so I was able to buy it with my little pocket money. Just another throwaway game.
Or so I thought. I couldn't have imagined, just how much this game would catch me. I instantly fell in love with the artstyle and once the music kicked in, I was a goner. The beautiful story made me tear up more than once, but also brought me so much joy with more wackier, funny parts. I won't even try to deny, that I often started the game, just to go to some place and just listen to the music.
Even so many years later, I still consider this game as my favourite game. And I have the music always downloaded on my phone and listen to it VERY regularly.
Okami is one of my favorite games and is so huge in my life, with so many homages to Japanese folklore and nods to Shinto. Even years later, Reset will always bring me to tears, it's SUCH an emotional scene, and what really crushes me is that the version of this with lyrics is never in any of the ported versions of the game. From what I recall, it's only in the original PS2 version of the game, which is heartbreaking because it's such a beautiful culmination of your entire journey through the game with everyone's favorite Woof God Dog Mom, Amaterasu. Absolutely one of my top five favorite songs in video games. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts when you finish it!

So nice to see you touch on Okami, it's got such a wonderful soundtrack. There's so many great picks and as others pointed out, "The Sun Rises/The Rising Sun" is another great one. A personal favorite (because it does some interesting things with mixing music styles) is "Ushiwaka's Dance/Playing with Ushiwaka", but honestly, I feel the whole OST is just a big recommendation. Hope to see more of the game featured on the channel! No matter the game tho, it's always so enjoyable to see you "read" the music, and really get into it.

Okami is one of my favorite video games of all time so I clocked on the video so fast. I finished it 3 times and bought it 4 times, and I rarely do that. Reset (Thank You) always makes me really emotional and brings me back to the scene when this happens, which is imo the emotional climax of the entire game. I can't describe how without entering spoiler territory, but I assure you your analysis nailed it in context. All you need to know is that Amaterasu is in a low point before this song plays and the challenge she faces is huge, but the music changes the mood into a positive, nostalgic tidal wave of emotions. You could say this about a lot of games and series, but in Okami the gratitude and praise of the friends she made along the way makes her stronger, and her presence made them stronger in turn
Okami is my favorite game of all time and the sequence during which this song plays is almost emotionally overwhelming. Going from this, to the Shiranui theme and finally to The Sun Rises as you take on the personification of darkness is a very powerful experience. This song actually has lyrics too and they're some very beautiful lyrics. I recommend listening to that version too, even if you don't react to it on the channel, and look up the translation of the lyrics.
I moment I heard you say "Reset: Thank You." My heart... I don't know what happen, but it was a very sudden punch in the gut from emotion. Just from realizing what you were listening to.
I've beaten the game about 4 or 5 times now, and this scene always brings me to tears. I hope you get the chance to experience the full story. It truly is a remarkable game.

Straight up the best song I've ever heard. Thought so the first time I heard it and will continue to think so until my death. After how many years it has been since I first heard it, I'm fully confident in making that statement. This song is in my opinion perfect.
THANK YOU FOR GIVING MORE ATTENTION TO SUCH A MASTERPIECE. There was drama about how it was close to Legend of Zelda but both are lovable. Okami music strikes me with a nostalgia unique to other nostalgia moments. It’s so precious to the point it would move me emotionally every time. Makes me wish I could go back some how but it is still here, so why not cherish it in the present. We can do that and you are one of the people who make it even more enjoyable. Thank you Marco. This OST is so big too, it came on 5 CDs and have everything; Boss themes, area themes, the 10 sec sound effects, songs from the Demos, and prototypes.

Okami's Kamiki Festival song is stuck in my head and I never played the game before, found out about it from an old animation channel when I was a kid that did animations for one of my favorite book series about a bunch of cats that live in clans
This song got me to cry the first three or so times I got to this part and beat the game, I’m used to the feeling but I still get emotional even though I’ve played it upwards of thirty times.
Listening to it here though, I let one tear slip and I’m okay with that.

As someone who 99% the original game (thanks final wall demon for that), 100% the spin off hand held game and then 100% the HD version I can say it is a wonderful series and I know you will enjoy playing it to the end.

Oh my god. Oh my god. Okami is my favorite game of all time, and I was so excited to see this react. I've played the game well over 15 times and I still cry every single time I get to this song in the game, and it definitely doesn't help that it plays between phases of the final boss battle so I'm sobbing as I'm wrecking the boss.
I can never praise this game enough, and I will always talk about it to anyone any everyone willing to listen. I implore you to definitely give the game a full play through.

Yes, yes, a thousand times, *yes!* I still think about all the music and everything. Started playing when I was 10, I'm 28 now. It's one of those things where if you can comprehend its story, it sticks with you forever. I love this game forever and the soundtrack always brings a nostalgic tear or two to my eye whenever I listen to it.

The combat system gets so fun with the bosses!! Plus.. the stray bead hunt.. Im trying that currently on/off to get all 100.
I managed to transfer the game to my PS5. When I do play it, I like to play tracks from the musicbox in the background, or just explore environments for relaxation, occasionally fighting the evil scrolls. There's a chance to use all the mechanics you learn in almost everywhere area

Okami is one of my favorite games, top 10. The moment I tried the PS2 demo back in 2006, I've fell in love with it.
Waited years for the reprint of the artbook (in English), and went down to import the Switch release from Japan, after having both the Wii and Steam versions xD
Okami is one of my favorite games of all time. I've played it more times than I can count and the soundtrack has me in tears multiple times throughout the story, especially this ending. I just weep every time.
I noticed mods were added on Nexus to restore the Japanese ending to the PC version and it's tempting me to play again 😂

My siblings make fun of me because I refuse to play it on anything but my PS2, but I figure if I'm going to put the time in to play it, I should be rewarded with the original credits song.
No joke, this is a major coincidence I swear, but before opening RUclips I took out my Ps4 copy of the game from my shelf to play later because I wanna 100% it for the like... 5th time? I adore this game. In my opinion it is indeed one of the best games ever made and a personal favorite of mine, dare I even say it is damn close to being perfect, the music of course being partially why. The music in this game always manages to intensify the feelings asked of you in a situation, if it is a tense moment, the music makes it even more tense, if it is a sad one the music makes you cry and so on and so forth. I hope you enjoy finishing it this time around!

Ah Okami... I love this game soooo much. I have a lot of good memories with it, and my personal favorite among the many gems that is the Okami soundtrack is.... The Sun Rises. The way that song plays together with what is happening is MASTERFUL and so god damn emotional. While it would lessen the impact, if you don't plan on finishing Okami, I would recommend you to watch the scene where it plays.
Aside from that... the Nintales theme, Okui the Hero, Kushinada's Ride... all of these encapsulate one aspect of the game and are very touching. I really hope you react to more Okami songs.

I completed this game many many times,I just wish I could go back to 3rd grade ,the memories and nostalgia this game was all that mattered. Nothing beats it playing for the first time
Can I just say, that I have always low key appreciated the 70's vibe in your room? The orange variegated shag carpet and wood paneling just hits different while watching your analysis videos. 😂 Although that desk needed replacement, ngl.
Okami is, hands down, one of the games I will go back to every other year to replay. The whole thing really just hits really close to home in it's story telling and the ending just brings me hope for the future I have yet to experience every time I play it in the present. If that makes sense. I really suggest you go back to try to finish it one of these days. The ending is just * *chef's kiss* * And the art style? I love it. Clover Studio really took a chance back in the PS2 era with this game and I'm so glad they did. Even tho they are not around anymore, their story lives on and that makes me really happy. Now, even more people are able to experience it with the re-master that came out a few years ago. I wish you a pleasant journey in your re-play. Good luck.

This game has the honor of being the very first game that I owned myself, my all-time favorite game (as you can tell from my profile pic and handle name), and also the first game that made me cry during the very last parts of the game, all because of this very song and the cutscene that accompanied it, not to mention the music piece right after this one.
Marco I hope you finish the game one day because I want you to experience the song that plays right after this song for the first time via playing the game, because ooh boy it's hella emotional and empowering (and maybe see your reactions to it?)
