I just turned on the show. I’m on the West Coast, but I think the first caller with the girlfriend for one month, you potentially should’ve advised him about scammers, after my divorce and entering the dating world there are so many scammers out there whether it’s online or someone that meets up with you and they try to attach themselves emotionally. They love you so quickly, and they come in after a month and say they need money for their moms surgery or they need this for helping their family. This is Big in the United States right now because we have compassionate people, and if he’s A Christian …. and this caller should definitely be warned, maybe she isn’t, but after say girlfriend, after only 30 days, that’s a little premature also, this young man needs to be warned ….. and 30 days to be getting hit up for money…warning ⛔️

Please set CLEAR boundaries with people who feel obligated to financially and physically support their family. This type of obligation can ruin you financially if you’re not careful. I would never support anyone (unless it’s my child) financially unless I’m a multi millionaire and can easily afford it.

Ya. The app doesn't let us writecomments. AND, there are no youtube captions so when people mumble we can't understand them. With the app, we have no control.
What's the sence of arguing about the full show not being on RUclips. I highly doubt that it will come back. I started listening in April 2024. Therefore, I go back to old shows that I never saw before. I get the full show. I suggest that others do the same. GOD BLESS!!!

I have always preferred the less common "1, 2, 3, WE'RE DEBT FREE" because it rhymes.
Jake, you’ve only been together a month. You’re not married. Do not give her any money. And keep an eye on how often she’s asking for money. Her intentions might not be the best.
Nowhere in the call did Jake say she asked him for money. I listened twice.
When/if she asks for money then it’s time to say goodbye. My family immigrated to the US over 40 years ago, minimum wage was $3:35/hr. We made do with the small income we had. We did not borrow or go 8th debts.
100K per year is standard at any non state school now. Love the Ramsey show but sometimes they seem out of touch with reality of what things cost. John was flaggergasted, prices have been this for years now. (I support sending kids to state or regional schools unless you are wealthy and a half mil doesn't mean anything to you, even better stay local if you have a 4 yr. that your kids can live at home and save that money, even public colleges are ridiculously expensive now).
To that dude who's getting the $700K settlement from the semi-truck accident: be HIGHLY selective on who you tell about this! Probably too late now that you've been on the Ramsey Show, but, seriously, lock this money up in wise investments before all the long-lost friends, distant relatives, and other hard-luck cases start coming out of the woodwork begging for a chunk of it! My ex-FIL lost a $350K settlement within 2 years to leeches begging for hand-outs.
Who cares if a millionaire has a 15k car loan? A lot of time was spent on that. He obviously knows what he is doing.
Please bring the whole show back to RUclips. You're neglecting the platform where your most loyal listeners are. RUclips is ubiquitous with everyone in America. You're only hurting yourself Dave. We're begging.
Mike from Chicago-surely in your area there are high level, paid college consultants to help your daughter and your family navigate the process. Not even competitively what is the “best” school she can get into, but what is the best fit. Worth triple whatever you pay them. 12:57 Academics, athletics, merit aid, scholarships, campus life, Greek life, and the best track to med school.
I have 4 kids and didn’t use the consultants until #4, by far the best outcome.
And if you know med school is a strong option, undergrad where she can really succeed and shine is a big factor, obviously she will need a high GPA to apply. My best friend’s son was in a similar situation, soccer player and top student, and focused on med school. He ended up choosing a smaller, elite school where he played D3 soccer, lower cost, and knew he could crush the academics and prime up his apps for med school.
Another view is to look hard at aid and scholarships, keep the cost of undergrad lower and plan to finance med school for her, which there may be less options for aid.

In addition, a GOOD financial counselor can help you figure out which assets are counted in your financial package and which are not. Most people don't realize that scrimping on housing and saving seriously for college is generally the opposite approach to what someone should be doing because in the FAFSA most homes (except the uber expensive ones) do not count. Your primary home, retirement savings, and life insurance are not counted in the FAFSA - so if you have a kid heading off to college, put extra money into your home and retirement and leave less in your checking and savings. Also, a student's assets are taken at a higher percentage than a parent's assets (checking and savings). Do your homework and/or use a professional - it can save you tens of thousands. And, again, the RS people are not the place to look for educational financial advice!

I don't recall him mentioning much info on where his daughter was interested in going, seemed to me that dad wanted her to got the ivy League way so he can say his daughter went to "Harvard". Free D1 school or pay $400k, not a hard decision to me!

@@Rick-of6gx I'm a retired educator and did college planning units at my school for parents for over 30 years. (I also taught only the Advanced Placement classes and had the "cream puff" kids and their very ambitious parents, as well as taught college evenings and summers.) I can assure you that kids want what they want (what they call the "college experience") but equally so the parents want bragging rights, no matter the cost. The parents that will shop all over town to save $300 on a refrigerator lose all common sense when the concept of "college" enters the discussion!

I think a big conversation that was missed with the dad with the athlete was. How much of a reach many D1 schools have regarding opportunities for their athletes. I went to a great D1 school where there were people in all sorts of fields that they had connections to and could get me in contact with them. They provide opportunities for their athletes for when they are done competing as well. I think D1 would be a great option!!

Happily married, but looking back I would not combine finances. Pay your bills out of a joint account that you both contribute to based on the percentage of income you bring in, and keep the rest separate. Suze Orman has a great strategy for those percentages. Women never take care of themselves, as this caller proves. Stay with him if you love him but do not comingle finances.
What I react to is their insistence that separate finances are never a good idea and that if you have separate finances, you are "just roommates." Again, their broad generalizations hurt their brand. What is important is not to have secrets about money, not whether or not accounts are co-mingled or separate. We've had both separate and joint accounts for the 52 years we've been married and we are definitely NOT roommates! We just spend very differently. We both invest - but I spend what I want to on the grands and my husband has some very expensive hobbies. We have a paid for house, retirement accounts, no debt, and enjoy life - but we'd argue all the time if everything came out of the same account!
For the first caller, the boyfriend, he needs to stay in his lane. You are not married, and your girlfriend sending money to her family is noble, and common, with immigrants, as well as not your concern. Honestly he sounds like a jerk, when asked what country she was from he laughed and said 'I'll just say South America). I hope she dumps him.
Why do radio listeners get the full show, and us loyal fans of Ramsey lose an hour on RUclips. How many listeners are you willing to lose? Is this good for business?
Why won’t no one download the app? It’s ok the only fault it has is not having a live chat.
I don’t have a problem with the app. It’s just people complaining to complain because it’s change. I will say it was NOT cool for them to leave the international listeners hanging though. That’s the one thing that was extremely wrong with making this change is that international listeners don’t have access to the app.
I watch RUclips on a laptop, which will not download the app, its ok though, I just go to Ramsey Solutions and listen to the radio broadcast.

Your last degree is the one that gives you a pedigree. And there is absolutely no proof that where a student goes for undergrad determines where he or she will be accepted for grad school, even medical and law school. What counts are the grades in ACADEMIC courses (the transcript will be re-evaluated with the "fluff" courses removed), and MCAT or LSAT scores. The Dad is quite right about the costs for an Ivy - it's about $90,000+ for Cornell (all included) this year and going up each year - and count travel back and forth, too). John is correct that most students and their parents are choosing Ivies not for the education, but for the fellow students and resulting connections for later in life.

I've had a lot of pushback on my comments about the advantages of credit cards for those of us who use them responsibly. The argument that is often repeated is that someone always spends more using a card. Today I came home from a trip out of state that I charged on my airline card. The "nasty bank" that has that card allows me to pay the annual fee with points rather than cash, additional points lowered the cost of my flight to half of the original, I could wait in the club waiting room before boarding, get priority boarding, and 25% off of any snacks I buy on the plane. I was not coming from home, had a connection of just 40 minutes so no time to eat, and buying the snack box on the plane was less than buying something in the airport. The flight was something I would have paid for anyway and the cost was not higher because I was using a card. So, was I ahead by using a credit card instead of a debit card with which I would have had none of those advantages? Oh, yes, I was.
I agree in responsible card use. I pay all my household utilities (except mortgage )delivered groceries , cat food, and medical supplies .That’s the extent of my expenses. My husband has a terminal illness and we had to sell everything and move to our small home that was a rental. We are prisoners in our home and cannot leave because he’s on life support and I’m his caregiver. No over spending happening here. The rewards are extra money every year.

Happens to me all the time - and I think the RS people move comments they don't like over to "newest" comments in the hope no one will check there. Click the "sort by" at the top with the three little lines to move to the other sorting of the comments.
My two least favorite host. I feel like John and Jade are just characters of the Ramsey brand.

You can still get a lot out of their hosting:
1) With maturity you find that there are all kinds of people; Some that we don't relate to are the only ones that some others will relate to. Therefore, cheer, pray (whatever fits your life view) for those that relate to these hosts that they will be able to get to debt-free and a stable financial life.
2) Think about your background and what in your background causes you not to relate to them. Often this type of person is one with whom you have had challenges relating in the past. Think about how you could reach out to that type of person. You and they will be richer for it. Also, it may open up opportunities for you that are very fulfilling.
It’s seems there’s some tension between John and Dave I could be mistaken….
