So, My wife's 2014 Camaro was suffering from the issue that so many Camaro owners complaint about, issues with the battery, the lights flickering, sound on and off, inside lights issue, etc. GM should have a recall on this but they don't... any ways... the best way to fix this is to replace the head unit. I took advantage of this kit to fix her car at the same time adding a nice sound system to her car. Just performed the task last weekend... took me a couple of days... but this kit made me look like an expert. Easy to follow and with this video serving as a tutorial also helped me a lot. Thank you for creating this video.
I think your videos are a real life saver and time saver. I would like you to spend more time explaining the amplified antenna. Other wise I think the video is great. You could also touch on why a lot of people that install this kit with an after market radio have bad reception.
Good video but if install this kit, how do I access the cars programs that usually showed on the old radio screen such as door lock/unlock programing or headlight on / off time etc. and all the other features that showed up on the stock radio. Will those features show up on the new aftermarket radio or now be inaccessible ?
Awesome video made my install easy. Next project will be the back up camera although I should’ve done it with the deck install while the deck was out...
Great video, I used it to install my new system. However, did you guys also have the issue that the factory blinker sounds and backup camera warning sounds are now gone? If so how do you get these back?
Hello guys! Great video!! I got everything going but didn’t know where to plug the new aux plug plug in, the only other spot on my aftermarket stereo (jvc kwv140bt) it says mic and that is taken already! Maybe one of the red or yellow plug spots I can plug the Aux plug in? Thanks
Great video. You guys have made my install super easy. Thanks. Question. 1. Why do I need to replace the factory AUX and USB cables and run the cables that come with the kit? 2. Where do the cables plug into under the dash or do they plug into my new AVIC-8200?
I installed the PAC Audio system with a DDX9703S, I have/had MyLink with Nav. I followed your video and merged the blue wires from the Pac system/antenna, with the blue from the Kenwood and both red wires. The issue is the HU will not shut off with the key, could you tell me where I might have gone wrong. Thank you
interested in doing this for my 2010 SS im 3 hours away and will make the drive to you guys please let me know what this runs with adding a reverse cam
Hey guys, I was hoping you could help answer a couple questions regarding this install. I’m installing a pioneer AVH-W4400NEX in my camaro with this kit. I’m having two issues one being when I press the OnStar button or hold down the talk steering wheel control button it kills power to the radio completely. Should I cut the Brown loop wire and connect it to the yellow wire with a black stripes on the pioneer harness which is the mute wire? I know you guys are busy but it would be a really big help. Thank you guys for your time and keep up the good work
HEY MAN on off chance you still read this, just watched your ROCKFORD FOSGATE VIDEO on powered sub, of which im trying to install in my CAMARO. what wires do i hook to for signal hi level inputs on a 2015 camaro with boston acoustic 4 wire speakers in the rear? on left side i have the dark blu white stripe wire and light green black stripe that seem to be a pair on the connector. on right i have dark green and light blue with black that also seem to be a pair in the 4 wire connector i have the crossover about 11 oclock or 90ish Hz. i maxed out remote bass knob and turned stereo up to 7/8 max volume or where ever it started to distort and backed off a bit. then started turning up gain until it distorted and backed off a bit it seems to work like this during songs on fm radio but during commercials it sometimes goes bonkers with massive distortion i cant seem to get both commercials, talking and music to sound good w/o any distortion. i usually leave factory head unit equalizer on rock since its the only good local station im too cheap right now to pay for XM radioespecially for 10 min daily drives. does the bass boost screw driver knob on Sub do same thing as remote bass boost knob? if so, should it be set to zero or about the same spot i normally set the bass boost remote? i found out the hard way if you accidentily unplug the remote , it must reverrt to enclosure setting which may have been maxed out cuz it immediately went full distortion.
What’s the name of the new kit that has a bigger face for a touchscreen? I broke mine from the terminal. I need to order a new one. Where can I find one?
Depending on what radio you're looking for. Could range from $100 to $600 or even more depending on what you're trying to do. The kit for the wire harness are not cheap either I got the scosche gm5201b which ran me about $300 it comes with the steering wheel control integrated with it only thing I needed to buy separate was the extended antenna.
Not sure if you still read comments from your older videos.. But I finally did this install. The radio works fine, and everything functions perfectly fine. But my issues are with the PAC kit! I got the PAC kit with a Pioneer AVH-2300-NEX, but for me, the PAC face bezel doesn't fit. It's like half an inch short from reaching the top clips. Plus when I open the face of the radio, I feel like the opening square to the PAC is not large enough to accommodate this. And my "air circulation" and "rear defroster" buttons don't work. Any ideas?? If I brought my car in, how much would you charge to try to fix it? I tried calling PAC, but I don't think they would be able to help me! Unless they released a version that has a bigger opening and was taller to fit this radio. At this point, I'm thinking I would have to cut the top off and extend it half an inch to get it to fit. As far as the buttons, I might try to take that piece off again and reinstall it, and cross my fingers.. 🤞🤞🤞🙏🙏🙏 Otherwise I might have to go with a different kit, but I would like to keep the "rotory knobs.." 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
If you have an older cd player, like a Pioneer Premier Dex-P9 or Pioneer ODR RS-D2, is the installation any different because I assume the radio doesn't have the input for the steering wheel controls. Would there be an changes to the wiring or do you just plug everything in except for the input of the stereo? Awesome videos by the way!
Hey thanks for the video! Definitely way better then the other guys 3 minute video making this look simple... I did this install yesterday using a pioneer Avh-4200nex. On a 2013 with my link. When it was all done everything functional except Sirius. I noticed the factory Sirius antenna won't fit the back of the pioneer. Do I need a separate antenna adapter or something? Also in the end the face plate wouldn't flip out, I think the bottom was catching on the new bezel. I'm gonna pull it out and try and adjust it. But it was really hard getting all this wiring back into the dash. Any pointers that might help???
Hi.. Thanks for a great video. I've watched over and over again hoping that I can install my Kenwood DNX 574s radio to PAC RPK5-GM4101 that will be install to 2010 Camaro SS. However, I am still confused with some of the wiring since the video is about Sony radio. Please help!! Questions that I have relates to Kenwood wires (1) blue solid label "ANT CONT" where would this wire hook up to PAC? 2) Blue with white stripe label "P CONT" , is this wire connect to PAC blue and white stripe wire or cap? 3) PAC pink wire, would I need to cap this since Kenwood do not have pink wire? and 4) Kenwood has light blue with yellow stripe, where would I connect this wire to PAC? Thanks for your expertise.
hey guys good work. I'm curious I've never paid for a professional install. I've always done my own work. how much did the guy pay for this install. if it is not to much info. thanks
For all those with the Boston, you will need to put plug the speaker in standard and not amplified as he just said to do. That's is incorrect. The amplified sound will be distorted and the sound is terrible. There is another video explain this. Trust me I had to learn the hard way with Geek Squad. Also get an amplified antenna as well because Reception after installation was terrible.
I have just installed one of these systems inside a 2012 Camaro with a JVC double din it seems like I'm having an issue where the whole system is cutting off and then cutting back on I don't know if it's the pack unit itself if there's a shortage in the Pack Unit or the wiring of the pack or it's doubled in how would I find out or do any kind of search cuz he'll come the radio come right back on
My vehicle is the 2012 2LT with a factory HUD, and I happen to have the factory backup camera that routes into the rearview mirror. Does that wire you mentioned earlier also pipe the video to the head unit? I was also curious if this still sends playback information to the HUD. Thanks! This is a wonderful video making me a fan of the PAC kit.
David Shields did you ever find out what the answer was? I’m just starting this install and want to know what’s up with the rear cam as well. We have the same car it seems, I have the 2LT RS 45th anniversary package (coupe, not the vert as shown in the video).
I found out that gen5diy has two harnesses that address the video. One moves the video to the aftermarket video. The other one will split it. I want to retain video in the camera, so I would buy the split harness. Both are the same price: $83.25.
David Shields thanks for the reply. I just ordered the same one you did. I contacted PAC to ask if their kit would allow you to route it to the new radio, and they told me that wherever the screen is from the factory, that’s how it will stay.
hi great video, thanks but i'm having problems with the ac it only stays on when is on hi but it shuts down when i lower it , when i rotate the dial to the left it shuts down, i heard there's a firmware fix, will it fix this issue? thanks in advance.
Thank you to you guys for the awesome detailed instruction for hooking up my Kenwood deck to my 2010 Camaro. Without your help I probably would not have attempted doing this myself. Wondering if you have ever done unboxing of the Kenwood DNA 890hd? Thx again Rob from Canada
He guys This a really good video. Just got one question about the whole thing. What happen to the car settings that are in the original radio? Where do they go? Greetings Roger
Got the same kit. Only problem is when I turn on my key thiers no power on my ac knobs and after a while they will come on by themselves and stay at one speed only?
Can someone help me with the red wire from the sony harness, do I connect it to the black wire or red accessories? I saw he only connected 2 blue wires to the red accessories.
Great video guys, thank you! Im installing the 8200NEX, when is the pink wire needed, it looks like the the 8200 manual it says to connect? Do I need to do anything with the brown wire in with the 8200 or leave it looped? It looks like you just cut the connects on the HVAC harness, would you recommend the same for the speaker wire if using aftermarket speakers and amp or just tape them off. Did you have to do any steering wheel control settings? Finally, i've seen a lot of guys remove the center speaker, they say it makes the system sound better, they connect the mic/chime/gps antenna there, what's your thoughts? Thanks again!
+C. Lawson thank you 1-Do Not Connect the Pink Wire! 2. If you want OnStar connect the brown and Yellow/ black, otherwise don't work about it. 3- yes our kit did not need the 2 wires so we capped them off. 4- cap off the radio side speakers wire for sure, no tape. 5- if you are doing all new speakers and amps, yeah I would leave out the center speaker. It is a good place for all that stuff. Not sure about the mic though, I would test that.
Thanks for the info, obviously you have more knowledge on this then I do, but just making sure I don't screw up, do I still disregard, and not connect the PINK WIRE: the NEX install manual says, Pink (CAR SPEED SIGNAL INPUT)This product is connected here to detect the distance the vehicle travels. Always connect thevehicle's speed detection circuit. Failure to make this connection will increase errors in thevehicle's location display.
That's a nice looking kit than what was previously available. I don't get why Alpine didn't do a restyle kit for the 5th gen Camaro. They made a faceplate kit but it didn't look factory at all.
Here is a question on the 5th gen camaro once you install a after market dash kit on these things the stock alarm becomes useless, you have to be like 10 feet away for it to work. Is thier any way to address this problem? Btw mine is a 15 that had mylink, and now how a schose kit with a 8200. Ps I used the vw style antenna adapter. Also is there an adapter to retain the stock USB?.... had to repost this here since you didn't answer on Facebook 😂
young_pablo we have not had anyone mention a lose of range. I will have to look more into that. The USB-gm1 will retain the factory USB. Does your Antenna adapter look like the one we used?
Five Star Car Stereo the antenna adapter looks the same, so when you first turn off the range is fine after the antenna doses not get the 12 volts from the car being off that's when the range shortens.
I know this video was made a while ago so I hope you guys still read this.. but I had this kit and a 9703s installed by pros, but I'd like to put in a HDMI cable and wifi dongle to be able to mirror with my s7... Would an amateur be able to do that without absolutely jacking it up? Haha thanks in advance!
WARNING to anyone who uses this wrap tape! DO NOT WRAP YOUR WIRES until you know it works. or else you will go through living hell trying to get that stuff off the wire so that you can debug the situation. ESPECIALLY if you use crimps to connect your wires.. CRIMPS ARE HORRIBLE!! even the good ones.. crimp it wrong in any way, and you'll have something not working right. truth right from the front lines!
I have a 2015 Camaro every time I hit my brakes turn on the windshield wipers are just going down the road my radio goes off I need a pap how can I fix it
Hey guys, I installed a pioneer avh-4200nex with this kit and I've had problems with the radio draining my battery while the car is off. I hooked everything up the same way you guys did, and even pulled it out to check it twice. The only think I can think of is the red (memory) wire coming from the pioneer. I wired it into the red accessory wire coming from the pac control module along with the power antenna blue wire. I'd really appreciate any suggestions, it's draining about a volt every 12 hours. Thanks!
+S!CK3STBA$$ have you done an amperage draw test at the battery. It is done by disconnecting the ground and putting your meter between them. You can then unplug the radio and see if the draw goes away. You may also want to check the firmware on the kit.
Five Star Car Stereo I did the amp draw test and it's drawing .11 amps when the car was off and doors closed. I know it has to be the radio because that's the only thing that has been done to the car and this started right after I installed the kit.
If my car didn't come with a factory backup camera, will there still be a reverse trigger in the pac harness?
Thank you! Finally a Camaro set up! I'm gonna show my car stereo installer this video so they knows what's up.

Yes
Does the heads up display still work after installing this kit
Perfection as always guys!! You guys are true wizards! I'd love to visit when i am in the US

Can I still use the factory mic for the phone with the kenwood deck or would I have to install another one ?
No you need to install a mic. It doesn't work with factory setup unless you have some kind of box that supports it with OnStar then it may work.
What goes into the XM audio on the module, I never saw you guys plug in anything there

Should I cut the Brown loop wire and connect it to the yellow wire with a black stripes on the pioneer harness which is the mute wire? I know you guys are busy but it would be a really big help. Yes, that is what you want to do. Or if you are not using OnStar just cut the brown wire. That will stop the radio from turning off.
Thank you for getting back to me so late. You have excellent videos and I’m glad I came across your channel. Have a great weekend!
HEY MAN on off chance you still read this, just watched your ROCKFORD FOSGATE VIDEO on powered sub, of which im trying to install in my CAMARO.
what wires do i hook to for signal hi level inputs on a 2015 camaro with boston acoustic 4 wire speakers in the rear?
on left side i have the dark blu white stripe wire and light green black stripe that seem to be a pair on the connector.
on right i have dark green and light blue with black that also seem to be a pair in the 4 wire connector
i have the crossover about 11 oclock or 90ish Hz.
i maxed out remote bass knob and turned stereo up to 7/8 max volume or where ever it started to distort and backed off a bit.
then started turning up gain until it distorted and backed off a bit
it seems to work like this during songs on fm radio but during commercials it sometimes goes bonkers with massive distortion
i cant seem to get both commercials, talking and music to sound good w/o any distortion.
i usually leave factory head unit equalizer on rock since its the only good local station
im too cheap right now to pay for XM radioespecially for 10 min daily drives.
does the bass boost screw driver knob on Sub do same thing as remote bass boost knob?
if so, should it be set to zero or about the same spot i normally set the bass boost remote?
i found out the hard way if you accidentily unplug the remote , it must reverrt to enclosure setting which may have been maxed out cuz it immediately went full distortion.
What if my temperature display isn't on?...is there a way to turn it on or is it just not working.

Hi five star car stereo, does the monitor on the rear view mirror still work when you go in reverse?
For all those with the Boston, you will need to put plug the speaker in standard and not amplified as he just said to do. That's is incorrect. What is the name of that stereo?

+Vince James they were having third party issues with their kit. I have hoping back then that they would have done something nice. Their loss
Five Star Car Stereo, funny how their restyle products are for trucks.
The wire on the antenna in my kit is red instead of blue, does that matter?
Hey guys that's a great video. Thank you for all your great work. I was wondering if the Pioneer 8201 Avis would fit that PAC radio kit?
+Ismael Batista yes it fits fine
Yeah, Im happy with my plug and play, Andriod system. This seems like a lot of work.
Is there no way to run the usb and aux wires more discreetly? Just on the side of the seat? Exposed?!?!
Enjoy your videos
Good information
Thanks
How do i connect the parking break wire I need help asap plz

I installed a pioneer and I have no sound. No radio or music. Chime works but there is no sound. Help!
What radio size is the radio
6.4 inch but all double din radios will fit
Anybody get a "battery energy saver active" messege after this install?
I'm not good at installation, can anyone recommend a shop in Atlanta with EXPERIENCE installing Camaros
Year Camaro ? ?
S!CK3STBA$$ so at that point remove the radio and test again
where did Fernando get that shirt?....its kool.
Boyd Reid it is from Stinger
Thank you 🙏 this helped a lot
I need a place in California I can go for this
Damn yall are top notch!
Adam Tv thank you
On the SWC, I don't have the 3.5 mm plug on the back of the stereo, what do I do with the blue wire? I have the soundstream 63 stereo.
Can I come work with you guys? I love car audio.
i added one didnt have to get the kit
Yeeessss you guys are the best !!!!!!!!!
MasterGXP thank you!
Where are you located? Can u do my car?
My only issue with the kit. Is how far back the radio sits
Wouldn't it just be easier to pull the shifter?
Great video
+Dahita thanks
Why would anyone want this kit when the idatalink Maestro kit is so much nicer and an overall much cleaner look.
Any1 find a cheaper kit other than the pac dash kit
Not really due to the factory setup. The AC controls and others really made it more expensive
Poor Fernando can't reach the brake pedal. 😞
Tyson Hower trust me he can drive a big truck like it is a SmartCar. Nothing slows him down
like 👍👌
100 years later 😂
young_pablo they aren't getting any easier, that is for sure
That shit look worse, woud've stayed the the stock radio.
And rip off and though away what ever is on the steering wheel.
