The funny thing is when he uses a completely generic setup like a Strat into a Marshall, his tone is immediately recognisable because he doesn't sound like anyone else playing a Strat through a Marshall
Yeah, I'm so glad to finally get some songs of Blow By Blow played live! Def happy he opened up with this and played Cause We've Ended as Lovers, too! ruclips.net/video/8STM1t8AoGM/видео.html
I was born the same year when Blow By Blow came out. I have a copy of that album. It's a good album and I believe Jeff recieved a gold record for it. The other album Wired came out the following year which is also a good album and I have a copy of it as well. I would recommend Blow By Blow and Wired to all Jeff Beck fans.
I'm totally shocked to hear about Jeff's passing. I can't believe it. He is my favourite rock guitarist. I never thought he would pass away all of a sudden.
Look at him, bringing these young, highly-skilled individuals out with him on drums, bass, keys. He launched or furthered a lot of careers. Even with some wear showing, he played a virtuoso show! So one-of-a-kind. Nobody else has ever made a strat sound like that.
So brilliant! He can sound like just about anyone or anything he wants, but always manages to sound just like himself. Rest in Peace Jeff - and thank you.
My favorite guitarist ever, the king of the "guitarist's guitarist" and to me the most original and unique rock guitarist ever. He had dazzling technique and otherworldly control of his technique, but dazzling you with his technique was never his intent. It was always just a means to higher creative exploration and musical expression. This is a stellar performance, but i feel a little sad all over again seeing it and realizing what a short time we had left to share in the magic he gave us.
This man lives on a different planet from all other guitarists. Whilst his peers are lazily falling back on their old catalogue, churning out tired but perfect copies with stellar session players and guests, Beck continues to push the envelope despite knocking on 80 and with people you've never heard of. It's also great he's giving women a chance to shine - Tal Wilkenfield being one he brought on and now has a career of her own. All power to you Jeff.

The 1st time I saw and heard Jeff was December 23, 1965, Alexandria(Virginia) Roller Rink. Yardbirds. Playing the Esquire. My band, The Beau Street Runners, was on the bill. Got the poster to prove it. And Keith Relf smashed my tambourine to bits...

The most amazingly skilled and emotive player I've ever seen. Simply the best.
I agree on Beck. He is so probably the greatest. But please check one guitarist of Beck's age, Jukka Tolonen, if you don't know him yet. He is little known outside of the guitar circles. From Finland. But he's got everything: emotion, melody, imagination, technique. For example solo in "What went wrong". Nothing went actually...
