Good to see you back Nick out and about on the Tiger. Despite the fall you had, the bike looks in great condition, I am hoping to see a few more ride outs before the Winter finally sets in.
38,750 miles on a 2023, 1200 Rally Pro. Persistent clutch problems and a temperamental 4th gear right off the showroom floor. I dealt with it, but also hashed through 2 sets of cams, Triumph agreed to ship a new engine. The dealership has been great, I'll pick up the bike on Tuesday - after nearly 2 months of down time. Cheers
Sorry to hear
Good to see you back Nick. Always enjoy your vids.
Thank you 🙏
Always enjoy your videos on the Tiger 1200, I took one out earlier this year for a test ride, unfortunately I just couldn't gel with the bike and I so wanted too. I have owned Triumphs previously and currently ride a BMW 1250 GSA, I think the Triumph Tiger is a great looking bike and better value for money than the 1250 GSA. I haven't given up on the Triumph, I hope to get another test ride at some point and hopefully I will get a better experience.
Hi Nick, if like me you had been riding for over 60 years, but had developed an unfortunate disability of both feet, meaning you were no longer able to change gear, and continue a lifelong passion for motorcycling, then yes these new auto bikes are an absolute godsend. Like you I had an MT10, then an MT09 SP until last year. My neuropathy meant a change to a Honda NC750X DCT. The gearbox is fabulous, but the bike is a bit too heavy, and doesn't handle like the MT09. It looks like I will now be able to go back to the MT!!
It’s a good thing then and you will be able to utilise this new tech. I need to ask the manufacturers why this new tech, be interested to hear their reasons too. Ride safe 👍
It's been a while, good to see you back Nick. 👍👍
Thanks mark 👍
I usually don’t like Triumph adventure bikes … but that is one good looking bike.
Triumph make the best bikes in the world!
Best adventure
Best retro
Best roadster
Best custom
Best cruiser/muscle bike
Now best single
Sales up 37% year on year tells its own story!
Love my Tiger GT Explorer, 18 year old Speedmaster and especially my Rocket TFC.
Agree best manufacturer for all classes atm
Another great video
Thanks nick
Many thanks for the update. I think the move to move away from manual clutches was partly answered by the commentary as modern bikes with quick shifters and blippers might only require a manual clutch to start moving off so an enhancement to that would be ditching it al together, less hardware, tooling and manufacture is cost saving if this can be done in software with some mechanical changes I don't know. Personally I prefer total manual control but then I'm old school, I've never owned or ridden a bike with special modes, blippers or quick shifters. The closest that I came was slipper clutches on my 2006 wonderful but brutal GSXR1000 K6 and I being old school I never really felt the benefit as a non racer. Thanks for sharing, take care.
Hi Nick, good to see a bike vid again. Yes new bike money these days seem crazy!
I've had the Honda 650RR for a while now with the electronic clutch and I couldn't see much point in it in the beginning but infact if I had to pay another 200 quid for an electronic clutch, then I'd take it, for me it's made me think " what's the point in having a clutch, and still gives engagement of gears. Best of both worlds.
I guess everybody is different on that one.
Cheers steve 👍
I need to try one I think 🤔
Totally agree with you its a proper lovely bike! ATB! oh yes i remember your off air vest was a god send and no real harm done
Great insight to your bike. As always safe riding out there. 😊
Good to see you back posting Nick 👍
Thanks Richard 🙏
Hi Nick good content again, your videos helped guide me towards the triumph explorer gt.
I like that you upgraded your mirrors, just adds a touch of class. My main problem with this bike is that you can’t use the mirrors above 65mph have you experienced this ? Really bad vibration
Hi Tony, 👋 thanks and I’ve not struggled with my mirrors above 65.
Yikes! Two years where did that go?? Two year review in the pouring rain, just what you wanted. 😁 Shocking summer this year (especially if you were working Mon-Fri 9-5) 🙁 I managed a 'mini'? Tour to the IOW and a weekend in Wales. I took the car to Devon in September as the weather looked so grim. 🙁 I was glad I did.
Hope you managed to get more sailing in than you've shown us thus far. Did you manage to get to the IOM in the end?
I think that would have most likely been an 'interesting' crossing? I think your best bet is to move 'her' to The Med....Soonest.....'The Girls' will be much more....🤔 'Thrilled' to go sailing, diving, snorkelling, fishing etc... Pack the 5mm semi dries...🤣 Anything colder than the Red Sea is too cold for me these days.
It’s been awful hasn’t it. Due to tides sailing from here is only every two weeks but lots of work on the boat in between. She will head to the Mediterranean in June next year and stay there for 3 years to use every chance we get. I think I’ll be in a 7mm semi dry these days. 🤣
I’ve always liked adventure bikes. I think the Tiger is too big for me though, and if I ever dropped it, I’d never be able to pick it up. I watched you struggle to pick yours up when you hit that ice. No way could I have done that, with my health issues. The bike would end up laying on its side until somebody helped me 😂
I’ve got the older explorer, absolutely love it Used and abused for nearly 40k miles , been thinking about swooping , have you tried the 900 rally pro , I’m erring towards the new 1200 , but wondering if the 900 is a good option , but you can’t beat the stance and road presence of the 1200
Yes ridden all the 900’s and love them too. Bothe great but I prefer the 1200
Enjoyed the video. What brand of tank bag do you have fitted to the Tiger? Ta.
Sw-Motech micro tank bag
can you please write how tall you are?
I’m 188cm tall and wondering about position on the rally explorer
Thanks 🙏
Hi 👋 I am 186cm tall so you’ll be great on this bike
Hi, I'm 6.2 and just bought an explorer. I can just about flat foot which is great.
Hi Nick, I was just curious if you’d ever tried any other adventure bike? I have the same bike, I don’t have many gripes with the RP other than it is quite clunky at low speed. Its also quite too
Heavy. Question is would your next bike be a triumph ADV ?
Yes ridden many adv bikes and prefer the tiger. My next bike! I won’t be buying another bike as I have my final two. The tiger and Bonneville. Eventually I will sell one probably tiger and keep the Bonny.
Thanks gents
