    She's a "higher vampire." A bruxae to be precise. In the Witcher universe there are weaker vamps who cannot stand sun or change into believable human forms...but as the types advance, they are able to pass...some even have stopped drinking blood, and they fit right in. This trailer was made in such a way as to hint at the various skills witchers have. The "potion" he takes at the beginning is called 'Black Blood." It essentially makes his blood toxic to vampires, which is why after biting him she has such a vicious reaction. Witchers have many such potions...some give them superior night vision ("Cat"), some increase their speed, agility, lessen bleeding. The shaking necklace he wears is sensitive to the presence of magic...it serves as a kind of early warning when monsters are about. The glass sphere he throws up into the loft is called "Moon Dust;" a liquid with a high silver level that makes the vampire at least partially visible. As with the potions, Witchers have multiple 'bombs" for use against different monsters...fire bombs for monsters who are susceptible to fire, freezing types that can slow a usually speedy monster, poison gases...the range is like a medieval arsenal of modern grenades. He uses two swords...most people with a passing knowledge of the stories believe he has a steel sword for use against normal humans or 'natural monsters' and a silver sword which works on the undead or supernatural types. This is not true. The "silver sword" is a steel sword as well but has an outside plating of silver which does more harm to vampires or were creatures. But it could not be pure silver because it would be far too fragile. People think such a sword could only work on monsters...they are mistaken, a blade works on regular humans even if it is silver plated. He also has low level magics he can use. Not as powerful as a sorceress or mage but you see several in the clip. There is a kind of golden globe that covers him at one point; it's a kind of force field that can protect him from some damage. He also uses the Aard spell...that's when he basically blows her backwards. A force field used offensively. He also has a limited fire spell, Igni, and a kind of trap spell called Yrden he can cast in a circle on the ground to slow, weaken or hamper certain monsters. And he's been taught martial arts since he was a child; witchers are usually orphans. Their training morphs them into super humans...most have extended lifespans (unless a monster kills them of course), they are immune to disease, are totally sterile. Theory has it that the sterility was worked into the potions and spells they are exposed to in training because regular humans didn't want to allow a race of superhuman creatures to breed. It has a cost though. Most of the children are killed or maimed in the physical training, and of those who survive that, the chemical and magical "Trial of the Grasses" they undergo later kills or drives mad about 70 percent of those who reach that level. Not many Witchers about. Their lovers seem to like them; they're virile, won't give them a disease or get them pregnant...and they don't stick around to embarrass the community or the parents.

      With this "higher vampire" I would hold back. Because it is a highly debatable issue. In Sapkowski's novels and games, there are only lower and higher vampires. There is nothing in between. The lower vampires are mindless beasts that do not have human form. Higher vampires are highly civilized. They drink blood for pleasure, not necessity. And only another higher vampire can permanently kill them.
      But Bruxas and the Alps (and something else, but I don't remember the name). They are not wild (usually). They have a human form, often so beautiful that it is impossible to know that he is a vampire. But they MUST drink blood. And they can be killed normally. So they don't fall into any of these categories. If anything, it is rather lower due to its common occurrence.
      And even worse. What Oriana actually is is even more confused. Because it is strongly suggested in the game that he is a higher vampire. Rather, some just Bruxa would not be one of the most important women in Toisant and a person who knew the hideout of the hidden. But the DLC was made long after this trailer. So the creators could change their minds while working on it.

    • @Tantalus010
      @Tantalus010 3 года назад +14

      @@Sandro_de_Vega Yeah, there's a lot of muddiness on exactly what Orianna is. She claims to be a higher vampire, but that's likely just her thinking she's all that when she isn't (or her trying to bluff Geralt into thinking she's a higher vampire to intimidate him). Either way, Geralt was able to kill her, so she cannot be a higher vampire. Then it comes down to two species: she's either a Bruxa or an Alp. She looks like a Bruxa and has all the speed and strength that Bruxae have, so it seems clear that she is a Bruxa, but then at the end, they show us that she's burning in the sun. That's a problem because Bruxae are impervious to sunlight, and suggests she might be an Alp. My guess is that she's supposed to be an especially strong Bruxa, and the "burning in the sun" part was just a mistake that shouldn't have been put in the trailer.

    • @Aurilion44
      @Aurilion44 3 года назад +16

      @@Tantalus010 Yeah, pretty sure she burned under the sun because of the black blood; and because she was dead.

    Here's a little fun fact about this video:
    While this was released as a trailer for the base game only later people figured out that the entire thing was actually also an epilogue to the second expansion "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Blood and Wine", wrapping up the story of the vampire Orianna (the woman in this trailer). Geralt learnt during the story of "Blood and Wine" that Orianna was running an orphanage for the sole purpose of feeding from those kids as she enjoyed the sweet taste of the childrens' blood. Geralt was too busy to deal with her then and there as there was a far bigger threat on the loose he had to deal with, but he swore to Orianna that he would be back for her.
    To remind the players of the trailer (as "Blood and Wine" is basically the end of the game series) they had her sing this song to a scared kid. You can propably image the reactions of us players when this realization kicked. oO

It's a Lullaby that the monsters originally created to sing to their monster children I guess. We humans see them as monsters, but in the song which the monsters sing, they refer to the Witcher as THE monster. Kind of like a boogeyman story that we tell kids irl, so that they learn to behave, but with a twist, where we humans are seen as the boogeyman.

    All you need to know for the Witcher show is that everything is done from different times i was confused at first to but it will all gather up nicely and you will definitely enjoy it better knowing that. So I’m not sure what episode u have watch but their are 3 story parts of each people one being yennefer being the oldest part of the timeline, the Geralt timeline is in the middle nearing the time line of the girl Siri but before hers. Siri is the present timeline. This isn’t some cliff hanger so don’t worry about spoilers it’s just something u ended up finding out later which u wish u had known sooner to enjoy but once u know about this timeline thing everything will be layed out nicely for you.

    if you read the books the ending of the witcher is open for possible outcomes.

    But, If you are interested in learning more about what a Witcher is it may help you understand his character in the show a bit more. There is a RUclips video called what is a Witcher I think. I
    do honestly think that they should have put that into the show on how a Witcher is chosen and what the trial does to them. But, overall the show goes over a few of the books in pieces but, overall I think they did a good job with what they had to work with.

    I really loved the show, but it is more based on the books and the characters back stories then the games. The games are set after the show and a lot of the people you meet in the games are in the show. So if you end up really liking the games (if you play) the show might be worth going back to. The show is complicated and kinda confusing esp at first, but it is much more truthful to the books and imo the best part is getting to know the characters. If character piece shows are not your vibe you won't like it. Also if you are only fans of the games for the gameplay and the plot (show has completely diff plots), not the characters themselves then show is also not for you.

In addition, people do not like them, consider them the same monsters, and do not miss the chance to demonstrate this in every possible way.

When she notes that "In times past, a Witcher would never take this contract" she is correct. Witchers are strong, but still start as normal humans that undergo mutations, they are far from superhero status. Higher order vampires are something that can easily match or exceed even the most powerful Witcher.

    It depends on what you like. The witcher games are awesome the witcher books are awesome and the witcher show is awesome. They just happen to be 3 diffrent mediums and eachh as purists that cant stand one or more of the other mediums. A show on a screen has to change some things a book might do or a game might get away with some are not so happy about that game fans are mad about lack of Geralt when in the books you have entire sections with out him at all ect. There was also race politics and gender politics involved for some people most the people that mention a problem with casting or a charecter are actually hiding this problem... So the whole thing gets complicated when you ask an open question like that. Some will say it is the best thing ever some will say it is the worst.
    I think you should give it a go If you can put up with not being told by a banner on the screen where you are and when. And having a bit of a slow burn when it comes to information. The deeper they get into the story the more epic it will get . I can not say much with out some spoilers but for a story based on something simply called the content this story goes through massive amounts of time and space.

    The Truth about the Netflix series is that, even if they try to follow the original material...
    And they hired a really GOOD actor for Geralt, somehow they didnt manage to do it perfectly, I believe its because they wanted to be "So Inclusive and diverse" and whatever.
    So they limited their options in casting just to have "Diversity" In a story that is heavily inspired by Polish Mythology, so there should be lots of white people, and somehow they decided to:
    1: Diversity so not following how the character looks.
    And 2: Because "Women must be portrayed OP and invincible" they gave a female character that is a really powerfull MAGE, "Dual Wielding Sword Skills" Just Because.
