@@LDVSofto I did some digging, according to the discoverer, the actual dream world spawns between the stranger and the sun. When the stranger starts moving away from the sun to avoid the supernova, the ship falls out of its cloaking field and is just hanging in space. Seems there's a speedrunning technique for OW:EotE called "Lucid Dreaming". The Stranger can push the spaceship directly into the place where dream world is located.

The dream world spawns between the sun and the stranger, when the stranger starts moving away to avoid the supernova, your ship is left hanging in space after it leaves the cloaking field, eventually it starts falling towards the sun and thus falls into the dream!
@@efarithey didn’t leave the ship where most people who do this glitch do. I suspect they left it just outside the gravity of the Stranger (also it looked like they hit it with a scout) and so it may have started drifting towards the sun immediately, with them getting into the dream world in time to prevent it drifting past. This is just speculation on my part, though.
since the vision you show to the prisoner changes depending on the contents of your ship log, i wonder what a vision to the prisoner with zero log entries would look like?
It would show the stranger dying, then nomai build houses and then suddenly drop dead. Then feldspar finds the eye symbol in the ruin and you grow up and go into space
Just in case you hadn't found an answer so far (and there are some in this comment section) It's a glitch called "Lucid Dreaming" By positioning the ship just right outside the stranger and entering the dream world you can make the ship fall towards the 2d plane that makes up the dream world as said plane is only a bit away from the stranger. Because like almost everything else in outer wilds, the dream world is still part of the same "Level". The ship falls towards the plane, you can find it and get your equipment back on. In this case the most important bit is the probe launcher as that actually gives you speed in the opposite direction that you fire the probe (As per Newton's third law of motion), you can actually see that trick in other speedruns. As you can see, the boosts from the probe allow the speedrunner to move about the dream world in ways never intended.
Compared to the canonical solution, it’s hilarious how much the spacesuit trivializes the Vault 😂. Also, The Prisoner’s N64 model being identical to what’s shown in the slide reel is spectacular accuracy, whichever was designed first 🎉
- wait, he got to start like every other speedun and still do it that fast ? - oh yes, he have to find it blind... I guess It must not be that hard with the timing of the jump always being the same, but it's still impressive! - why is he letting his ship there? - wtf - WTF - WTFF - what did just I witness ???
i thought i found a method of getting into the dreamworld while dead faster, and wanted to see if it's already known and used in speedruns, i forgot glitches exist...
Well, the simulations are zones that the game loads when you sleep with the artifact at the green fire, but they are loaded in the same space as everything else, so by leaving your ship wander off in space, if you leave at the right angle and at the right place it falls into the simulation area
Why do you wait for a few seconds while dozing off? Does it have to do anything with the ship entering the area? Afaik you can awaken at 00:00, why is that not a time save, as you still had to walk to the ship?
@@ptminsker I see. Another question, how do you manage to do scout boosting so fast? I don't even understand how such consistency at this speed is possible (i can't even get scout launces in such a rapid succession at all actually), I'm only able to match the pace of shooting of 2nd/3rd place any% runs, how are yours this fast? I have both my mouse buttons bound for shooting/recalling and time clicks, is there a different strat?
Oh nvm, realized that recalling only works if you're not holding the shoot button, still don't understand how it's possible to do it this consistently but at least I can hit the pace sometimes now lmao
Out of curiosity, what does the setup with the signalscope at the beginning actually do? My non speedrunner brain gets that you need to use the geyser to get up there but I don't get why you need to be really precise about it all before then...
The signalscope is used to line up the exact spot the player needs to be looking and standing. This is done because getting the geyser to shoot you towards the platform is pretty precise, and landing on the railing (the only place you won't die from fall damage, because slopes make fall damage weird) is *insanely* precise. Landing on the ship is death, landing on the platform is death, it's just the railing. I'm sure pixel perfect is an exaggeration, but it sure feels that way.

did the ship drop because the dream world loads just below it?

The area probably isn't loaded until you open the door

There's a door opening there ... maybe he needed the scout to keep the door open or something?
