This is awesome. I been thinking about getting a longboard and converting it for my son but after seeing this ima take my time and have my son build it with me
amazing diy skills seem elevated into super hero status once proven, I hope these become available as add-ons in sports and outdoor shops, its too much hassle to enjoy offroad electric skateboarding which seems the free-est without getting into the thousands of $$$ for battery and hub motor tech that all comes from the same factory that has the lion share of manufacturing planned out in stages beforehand.
@@homemade_madness I don't even know what hoverboard means anymore so I'm just going to call it the real deal of whatever the hoverboard is supposed to be lol
Hey mate, did you use chaindrive or belt drive for the transmission? Also what kind of sprocket ratio? This is great and has inspired me to make my own as I have a spare 50cc 4-stroke engine lying about and wondered if 2.1hp will do the trick or will I have to go with two stroke? Thanks!
its not that compicated. the wheel hub is made of steel, so i just made a square plate with a big hole for the shaft in the middle, and welded that plate to the wheel, next i drilled holes in the plate to mount the sprocket. its not 100% in the centre but good enough for sure ;)
Do you know where I could find the engine that you used in this video, I’ve been looking for a replacement engine for my pocket bike and I just can’t seem to find the exact same model anywhere.
id like to know what the smallest most portable form factor for a vehicle capable of driving over grass would be. it would be cool if this board could fold in half or telescope to shorten my college has a massive parking lot and i would like to get to class in style. and put the vehicle in a breifcase when im done with it
My guess would be folding scooter with bigger tires say from wheelbarrow and power source that works for you. If you bring it inside then electric might be better since no flammable liquid around but if outside then small gasoline engine say trimmer engine with suitable sprocket ratio.
Hey thanks!! I bought the wood in my local building supply store. Its 3mm thick ( total board 5 layers=18mm) baltic berch plywood. If you try to bend them into the mold directly they will break (to sharp of a curve) so i put the plates in warm water in my bathtub and let them soak for a day so they got soft then i directly put them in the mold for a few days and they will hold their shapes. After they dried for some days i glued it together. You can see the plate im glueing in the video already has a bit of the curve in it caused by the water softening. Good luck building yours if you are planning on it :)
@@homemade_madness I have already made several longboards. The problem is that they are made with three plywood planks of 5mm thick unit and the result is that they are extremely heavy and not at all supple is your Montaine board flexible?
@@homemade_madness I think that normally for street skateboard we put 7 layer of glulam. The fourth layer is not in the same direction as the others, the wood fibers are perpendicular.
Heyy thanks!! i have a crazy big awamesome project coming, working on it now!!😃 the tires were about 10$ a piece, the wood about 20$ together, i bought the engine second hand for 30$ (same engine i used in the motorized beercrate) some steel, paint, glue. So around a 100 bucks.
I know this is an older build but if you could remember where and what kind of springs those are that would be great. I’m trying to build a board if my own and can’t find springs
Hi, the springs come frome a clothes washing machine suspension system. and were then stretched out to transform them from tensile to compression springs
Fkn awsome guy, but please, please stab whatever drive or device that music is stored on Place it on a rocket and launch directly at the sun. Then come back and make something else of course
What a great build man! I was so impressed when I saw you making your own trucks and even the deck itself!
Gabriel Curtis thanks man!! These kind of comments make all the effort of filming and editing worth while :)

Put feet straps from snowboard and try drifting it for cornering. ;)
Haha good idea
At 5:00 we see that it is a chain drive on the left rear. I would like to see the sprocket setup on the drive wheel.
Thanks for this ! It was a great help with my design.
Love that, even the deck. Everything homemade! Want to assume the exhaust too?
Now this is a real hoverboard
You sure?😅

It better than the chinese version anyways

Thanks! New project coming today😁
Highly impressive!!
Jawohl! Ich liebe das! Danke!
Danke sie auch! (My best german sorry😂)

Thanks!! ;)
could you show(in another video) the engine to wheel sprocket build/hook up ?

Tuur Egbers 😁😁
And also hod did you put that brake on there?
I would like to know how yu did the rear axle with the spocket.

Depends on where you live in holland i can buy them online. The one i have came from a mini chopper style pocket bike, they are quite common here.
I do . Amazon
Washing machines, but they are electric tho
This is just fantastic
Awesome build good job could you possibly tell me where you got those wheels from and the sprocket I have everything else.

thanks! yes there are brakes, they work pretty good. check the very last scene ;)
Cool...but you don’t show how you mounted the chain..is there a break?
Was really hoping you'd manage to power both wheels.
Hey man!!!! What a great building i am so impressed!! What kind of engine its that??? And what about the controller in your hands??? Thanks a lot!!!!

How did you connect the driveline? How engine is transmitting power to the wheels? Saw your video and it’s awesome so decided to make on 🔥
Hi, it is chain driven, there is a sprocket mounted to one rear wheel. Good luck with your build :)
Just subbed with the bell on too
By the way how much was the total build

Nice! If you want a sneak peak, check out my instagram @beunhok. These engines are commonly found on minibikes/pocketbikes, pretty cheap.

Its just a 10inch handtruck wheel, off the internet

How's your head bro? Heard you got hurt at school at the wind energy minor

Hi, they are from the suspension system in a washing machine.
