    Part 1 of a 2 part series in building this mountainboard.
    I did a lot of 3D animation for this project. I think it's the best way for me to explain things quickly and easily! Let me know what you think in the comments!

    Did a lot of 3D animation in this video. I think it's the best way to explain things quickly and clearly. What do you guys think?

      Animations look great and are very helpful for explaining things like how you tension the belts.

      What CAD program do you use for designing parts?

    • @PatchBOTS
      @PatchBOTS  6 лет назад

      I do everything in 3D Studio Max.

    Looks like it is going to be a beast- can't wait to see part 2 with you riding around on it!

    "See if I can finish the job" 😂
    Basicly what I say when I bike down a super steep hill🤣

      Haha, yeah. Part of me was a little relieved when I didn't have to ride it on that particular day. You can hear in my voice I was pretty sick right around the time I finished this video, and the thought of also crashing wasn't fun. haha. Going to be fun though.

    I miss Netscape. Also, this is an awesome build. Your CG showcase prior to the actual assembly helps teach guys like me how to reinforce any problematic installations for motors

      Hey thanks for that comment. Yeah Im trying to use more animation and motion graphics rather than just explaining things. I think it helps save time/confusion

    These mountain boards are pretty cool! I really like the look of yours! Well done! I'd like to ask you about something that is a bit off topic. Would a single motor be able to push the board well enough without a person on board? I'm building an rc rover. I have a 5335-245kv motor and I'd like to get a mountain board belt and pulley system to drive it.

    • @PatchBOTS
      @PatchBOTS  5 лет назад +1

      Yes, the motor will definitely have enough power to move a board, you will have the OPPOSITE problem though. Without a lot of weight on the board you are going to run into burnouts and wheels spinning. You'll either need an ESC with a real-slow start or a customizable ESC (arduino perhaps) that can start the motor slowly so it doesn't spin. Good luck!

    where could I get those 3D printed drive train parts. I have the same old Mongoose board!

    • @PatchBOTS
      @PatchBOTS  4 года назад

      Awesome, these boards are great! I did a part two of this series (link above) where I actually eliminated a lot of the 3D printed parts because they weren't strong enough.

    One question: whats the squichy flex material you are using here at 2:02 min? Is it printed ?

    • @PatchBOTS
      @PatchBOTS  5 лет назад +1

      That is NinjaFlex SemiFlex filament

    Nice! I'm a new sub. Do you do everything yourself or do you have friends that help?

      Hi Ryan. Easy! I have no friends. haha. No, I do everything myself. Thanks for subbing! If you have any other questions feel free to ask away.

      One more question. How do you deal with losing momentum when you have to wait for parts to ship? Do you have multiple projects running all the time so you can switch back and forth during waiting periods?

    • @PatchBOTS
      @PatchBOTS  6 лет назад +1

      Yeah. MY video release schedule isn't what you'd consider "fast." I've been putting out those "Vlog" videos as a way to make more content relevant to what I'm working on, but sometimes my main project videos are months apart. It's waiting for parts, it's trying entire concepts that don't work and have to be redone, it's a lot of things. I have 2 main projects going; the Star Wars Chopper droid build and the Star Wars Clone trooper cosplay build. Those are my "main" projects. Then I have projects like this where I do something out the box just to keep projects flowing. It's hard to work on the same two things all the time, so it's nice find a little idea like this that I can work on when I hit rough spots on the other two projects.
