Nice Vid mate, Really enjoyed seeing the young fellas and how keen they were on fishing at the ramp. Well done on helping them out with some quality lures. If I happen to win I'd probably use the reel to set my Mrs up a bit better and move up from her entry level stuff.... would mean she isn't using my comp gear that she thinks is a lot cheaper than I actually paid for it as well 🤣
I love the no line roller option, i very rarely use that function anyways and on some reels it’s the first thing to stop working after a few years of using
Would be interesting to see if you can put your own bearing in there. The stock Shimano are only $4-$6, so if they have the same assembly but use a bush/collar, it would be awesome to be able to put it on yourself.
Excellent and indepth video as always Byron. I gotta say i absolutely loved how ya gave them kids the DCs. You would've made their day and possibly helped secure their angling future. GREAT STUFF indeed.
I have a 5000XG and move it between rods here in Oregon. Surf, salmon, Ling cod, ect. Using 30lb braid, it's the only spin set up on my kayak. It is smoother than a comparably priced Penn.
Great review, and I wish I could fish in Australia. With that being said for like $30 more you could get the Shimano Ultegra. You get the ar-c spool, The micro-module Gear II which is what the Stradic FL has, long stroke spool that the stradic has, X-protect that is more water resistant, SA-RB shielded bearings for salt water, and a one piece bail. The Miravel doesn’t have any of that. The Ultegra has way more tech for the money. It’s the best reel for the money in the $100-$200 range. It's basically a Stradic FL with cI4+ body. same long cast spool,X protect, worm drive etc. 1 less bearing.
@jamesstewart2560 Too right! I just bought an Ultegra C2000S as a backup for my Vanford. I ordered from Japan and paid $152AU including delivery when the Miravel was selling locally on Black Friday for $180. Aussie prices are a joke
I just bought a couple of these, one of the major selling points for me is that this is very light and also one of the most high-end reels Shimano offers with a folding handle. Which makes it the perfect reel for telescopic rods.
Since I'm sure part of your question is curiosity, and not just the giveaway which has past, I'm going to use mine for a variety of fish that im not sure what they would call in Australia. I'm in Louisina, USA. Part of the list is sacalait(crappie), redfish(red drum), sheepshead, speckled trout, large mouth bass, and a few types of invasive carp, if I can find them. I'm using the 4000xg with 40lb braid.
I was expecting it would be a cut down Vanford, but really it's so different that it's just not. No MGL rotor, no long cast spool, 25g heavier. It's clearly not the same gears as the Vanford so unlikely as smooth. Instead this is the Ci4+ version of the Nasci like the Vanford is the Ci4+ version of the Stradic. If the price stays around the $220 you'd be mad to buy this over a Vanford which can be had at under $300 if you shop around. I'd guess Shimano will allow this to retail for $190 a bit after release.
A shimano ultegra is and always was branded to be the cut down/budget version of the vanford/stradics a miravel is exactly what u said a ci4+ version of the nasci
Nice looking reel. I use lower and mid price reels, they all catch fish, but I can feel the difference in using higher quality reels. I mainly chase flathead with my pb being 86cm caught on a ecogear ZX40. Keep up the good work on your reviews I have learnt a lot by watching your videos. Old fisherpeople never die, just smell like they do.
The reel would fill a gap in my current reel range to chase larger Flathead with a double clutch or a floating pillie for snapper. Hope these vids continue in your new home mate.
Great review as always Byron. All I can see of Miravel is the lighter version of Nasci. I do have 2 of the 2500 new Nasci for my all rounder kayak setup. If I gonna use Miravel, this will be on the lighter side of my kayak setup. 1-3kg rod.
That's another crisp little clip Byron- been missing them! Really looking forward to what you produce in the States! I'd love to match this to my 2-5kg rack raider rods, which I throw in the racks for bre, and in the sticks for bass. Currently running either Sedonas or Nascis on those rods, and this will be a perfect upgrade! Cheers mate.
I’m from the west coast of New Zealand and I love to fish salt and fresh water. Iv been fishing since I was 4 and I’m 13 now, my Dad and Grandad got me into fishing. I love fishing so much I’m very keen on it. I would use the reel on Trout, Perch, Carp or whatever I can catch. Unfortunately I’m not a member. I haven’t asked my parents to join but I already know what they are going to say. My Dad thinks subscriptions are a waste of money ( which they can be ) and my Mum will just say a waste of money as well :/😢
I would love to win this reel, but wouldn’t use it myself… my brother has recently been getting into light tackle lure fishing for the bread and butter species, and gifting this reel to him would be the next step in his fishing journey.
Hey mate! Love the channel and all your videos. They have helped me heaps! I would love to use this reel for flatty fishing! Hope to win this beautiful reel!
I’m having issues with this reel. I bought a Miravel 4000xg right before a tournament. Feels great just reeling it with nothing attached. But when I’m reeling a bait in it feels awful. Feels like I have a 5 pound weight attracted to the line when I’m reeling in a bait. It’s extremely disappointing. Not sure if something is wrong with it or what. Do you notice something similar
nice review mate, would love to add this real to my arsenal, I would use the real for light plastics fishing targeting a range of species like flathead and snapper
Hi Byron, thanks for the vid. Stoked about the new reel by Shimano, looks great ay. I will use the Miravel to chase breams off jetty, under bridges using grubz 😊 cheers Charlie
At the moment I am really getting into my ultra light tackle fishing around rocks and pontoons and I’m looking for a new reel as my old low end one just died and I’m currently borrowing my sisters😂. This reel would be absolutely perfect for me and what I do and I would probably get it in the 1000 or 2000 size with 6lb bread to chase bream and trevally and maybe even flathead every now and then🤙🏽
Loving your channel and content, Byron. I’ve really been enjoying getting into estuary fishing, finding different spots around Victoria. My wife’s been getting into it too, so I need some more gear for her before she knocks off all my lures and ruins my gear. So yeah, I need to win.
Loving the straight up honest reviews mate. Nice boat……. That looks pretty Schmick. As sacrilegious as it would be. This would go perfectly on my Daiwa to zero 7”6 Great for ripping the bigger bass out of cover in the larger dams.
Great video as always just down get an American accent when you move o/s. I’d love to pair the miravel up with an linfeet rod to make my debut at the hobie fishing GP next month at Pittwater
Hey Byron, always appreciate your content, keep it up mate. Just a small correction when you referred to the Nasci being made of metal, it’s actually made of a hard plastic material. Cheers
I would use the reel for bream I love bream fishing on little unweighted bream prawns but the reel would be used as a crab rod for bream I need a new reel for a rod as I seized the reel on my crab rod it would fit into my style of fishing
Great video. Out of curiosity, was the line retrieve affected by the lack of line roller bearing on that reel given your glass half empty theory? If the line retrieve is not affected, would love to give it a try for the typical estuary situation . 😊
when i retrive in my 1 year old vanford it feels like itsa ticking under it.. nothing without line out in the water and so... everything inside looks good and nothing looks broken.. is this common? its the 5.31 gear 2500 ..
Hey Byron, I’m realising early on I was being a nonce in my sort of jealousy of guys with high end gear and product I couldn’t afford. You just wait until you can afford not bag people out who have it. Now I have a nice Daiwa monocoque T.D. Black reel with my Maikuro II rod, and some other cool gear. Just wonder if you could advise on the better leader material I have. Platypus Stealth FC or Sunline Siglon FC. Which one better, or both O.K. Or both crap. Let me know, if you can. Cheers Byron.
Been researching rods, reels, lines and lures for a whole day. More complicated than engineering. Was looking at the Miravel, but now thinking the Twin Power XD. I like to buy once and once only. What do you think of a XD 5000 with a 6-12kg T-curve rod? I want just one rod, maybe two, to catch fish 1-6kg in the river and beach. Needs to be salt water protected.
Love ya reel reviews well all reviews honest good feedback is what inlove no B.S just straight to it This reel looks the goods the price the quality and great for that next level up reel without breaking the bank I’m focusing on the flatheads there’s something about them that just gets my heart pumping fishing for them and this reel would suit me just right Gonna miss these vids when u leave for ur next adventure in life🤙🤙
Great informative vid as usual. I know what you mean about keeping in mind it’s not a high end reel, comparing my rev to the nasci you notice the difference but I must say if the miravel is as nice as the nasci, seems like an absolute no brained choice. I have enjoyed the nasci although a bit heavy. I reckon the miravel would be a great estuary reel targeting flathead and trevs. If I somehow get selected to win, please choose someone else 🙏
Recently, I was looking for a light spinning reel for very light saltwater in Brazil coat. I am looking for information for Miravel, Vanford and Strafic FL..... after you video, I need to pay more attention to Miravel.... *G* Thanks!
I’m very excited to enter this giveaway as I’m a big fan of reals such as the Shimano Miravel, I own a Daiwa Freams and I’d imagine that they would be quite similar. Now what I would use the real for is my light fishing such as Bream, Flathead, Bass, and I would also use it for Mangrove Jacks and Jew fish, definitely a bit more of a challenge catching the bigger fish but hey I love me a challenge 💪 Onyx
Awesome video unfortunatly being a kid i cant get the membership having no credit card or PayPal or apple pay but if i would be able to win that reel i would put it on my shimano zodias and use it for light bream and eastury perch around my local lakes such as hollands landing, mitchell river, paynsville and lake tyres.
Doesn’t look to bad kind of looks like a lot of other shimano reels hahah.. it would be great to bash around in the salt like for casting small metals of the beach or rock or something along those lines👌
Good video mate always like watching your videos, if I was to win the reel I would use it to chase reddies and Yellas down at the channel near my house 🤙
i got a 2500 miravel last week from bass pro . it's not as smooth as my diawa BG or procyon Al . even my kastking sharky 3 is smoother than the miravel . it's going back and i'm gonna get a fuego lt . everything isn't for every thing isn't for every body . thanks for sharing dude :)
Great video again Byron. Definitely going to have a sticky at these. Would use for flatty hunting. Replace my Nasci which was stolen by some dog. Good on you giving away those lures.
The first thing I noticed about this reel is its weight ruclips.net/user/postUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . I wouldn't say it was uncomfortable but it was a little heavier than other similarly sized reels. However, that didn't deter my enjoyment of how smooth this reel is. I spooled it with 20lb. Tuf-Line XP and it's perfect for what I use it for. I have it paired with an 8'6" Medium/Fast Okuma SST Salmon/Steelhead rod. The combination is perfect for casting and even drifting. I used the reel all day and didn't experience any arm or hand fatigue except when fighting a few fish! The bail is solid and feels strong when engaging by reeling and manually closing the bail by hand. The large rubber handle grip is very comfortable. It's got a powerful drag, silky smooth reeling, and feels very comfortable in the hands. I recommend it!
Nice Vid mate, Really enjoyed seeing the young fellas and how keen they were on fishing at the ramp. Well done on helping them out with some quality lures.
If I happen to win I'd probably use the reel to set my Mrs up a bit better and move up from her entry level stuff.... would mean she isn't using my comp gear that she thinks is a lot cheaper than I actually paid for it as well 🤣
Little legends at the boat ramp reminds me of younger times! Hard not to help the legends out!!!!

I love the no line roller option, i very rarely use that function anyways and on some reels it’s the first thing to stop working after a few years of using
I find myself looking at the Miravel, is it still good to go, or should i consider a Nasci?
Would be interesting to see if you can put your own bearing in there. The stock Shimano are only $4-$6, so if they have the same assembly but use a bush/collar, it would be awesome to be able to put it on yourself.

great review byron love your vids. i would use this reel to chase pinkies and flathead with plastics
Cool idea
Hey Byron, another sweet video! I'd use the 2500 Shimano Miravel for flicking some vibes at Flathead in Lake Macquarie. Thanks mate and tight lines!👍
Right on!
Very cool to see you helping out the kids.
This would have a myriad of uses but I’d lean towards any estuary species. Thanks mate.
ahhh mate, someone helped me once. just paying it forward. kids smash a few fish on those lures and they are hooked
Small beach / rock fishing, whiting, bream, dart and maybe an unlucky flatty. Awesome videos thanks for the info.

What is that rod mate?
Great review mate, this one would be a soft plastics reel for me. Without the long cast feature its use in close is warranted.
Totally agree
I fish for a lot of smallies and they love a Texas rig senko. I’d probably have to pair it on my dobyns champion rod for a great smallie killer combo.
Nice CJ!!!!
what about the no line roller does that not affect it?
Hi mate new subscriber here. For light fishing on soft plastics. Which is better 2500S or 2500SHG? does high gear matters? im eying the 2500S
awesome video thinking of selling my 2500 nasci and buying this reel now. would use the reel for flathead, bream and trevally fishing.

but if i would be able to win that reel i would put it on my shimano zodias and use it for light bream and eastury perch around my local lakes such as hollands landing, mitchell river, paynsville and lake tyres.
I get it, Tina I get it.
Flick me a message on Insta and I’ll send you a reel I’ve got here.

Googan squad - usa
If i win, I am going to give this Reel to my 5yo son so we can chase some bream together ❤️
Very nice!!! That’s some heart string stuff right there Hamish.
Doesn’t look to bad kind of looks like a lot of other shimano reels hahah.. it would be great to bash around in the salt like for casting small metals of the beach or rock or something along those lines👌
Would be keen to hear how it goes Rory, I do think it is a simple look. But I enjoy it
@@ByronTeaHill yeah definitely could look worse haha
great explanation
Glad it was helpful!
Love your shirt
Good video mate always like watching your videos, if I was to win the reel I would use it to chase reddies and Yellas down at the channel near my house 🤙
Awersome Mikey
i got a 2500 miravel last week from bass pro . it's not as smooth as my diawa BG or procyon Al . even my kastking sharky 3 is smoother than the miravel . it's going back and i'm gonna get a fuego lt . everything isn't for every thing isn't for every body . thanks for sharing dude :)
Would use the reel fo bass in south east Queensland
Certainly would legend
Great video again Byron. Definitely going to have a sticky at these. Would use for flatty hunting. Replace my Nasci which was stolen by some dog. Good on you giving away those lures.
Thanks for watching mate! glad you enjoyed it
The first thing I noticed about this reel is its weight ruclips.net/user/postUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k .
