He wrote this for his father, after his mother past. I saw them in KC he told the story of how it came to be. Such a genuine beautiful couple, so thankful they are sharing their gifts with us!!

Their show live at the governorss mansion is fantastic. Perhaps a bit long for a reaction video but still fantastic. It highlights the two of them along with their personality with the crowd

How this song never reached number 1 on all the charts there are is mind boggling to me

Hi Don, it was written about (or maybe inspired by) the loss of his mother. I always assumed the "cadillac" was a hearst.

Correct. This song like much of their music. You have to listen or read the lyrics to get the depth. Well at least I do lol.

You've nailed it Don - they are artists indeed. So terrific, what a great discovery. Thanks James Simmons for the wonderful request, and Don for another fabulous reaction!

Andrew Marlin and Emily Frantz ladies and gentlemen. I play mandolin and he is my biggest influence.

I can't tell you how happy I am to get this positive reactions from everyone. I have been listening to them for years. They are at the top of there game when it comes to lyrics and musicianship. Jason Isbell is a great comparison. They are bluegrass Isbell. This is only the tip of the iceberg. I hope everyone that enjoys them dives deep. Go listen to Gospel shoes. It is such a powerful song and might be my next request. Thanks!

Never heard of the group but really enjoyed them in laid back sort of way. They remind me alot of Flatland Cavalry...the lead singer has a very similar vocal tone to Cleto Cordero. Cleto creates great harmonies with his wife Kaitlyn Butts just as the Watchhouse singers do, who btw are also married.

Hey Don late to the party as usual. I’m generally not a Bob Dylan fan but Mandolin Oranges cover of Boots of Spanish Leather is a great journey of a song.

Imo Dylan is best when covered in 95% of the cases, and that Boots of Spanish Leather cover is the absolute tip top of Everest in terms of Dylan renditions. I played it for an older dude I jam with and he visibly wept almost the entire time, he was so overwhelmed by it

@@Chilipotamus , wow that must have been pretty powerful to witness. The way Mandolin Orange laid it out was like a heartbreaking movie.
Do you have other Dylan covers you recommend?
