One of the most enduring myths about carbohydrates is that they are “essential” in the diet. Even the most basic biochemistry book will tell you that dietary carbohydrate is not an essential macronutrient, unlike protein and fat. As the Institute of Medicine (IOM) states year-after-year in their Dietary Reference Intake Manual: "The lower limit of dietary carbohydrate compatible with life apparently is zero, provided that adequate amounts of protein and fat are consumed." The key point is that you do not need to consume carbohydrates because your body can synthesize all the glucose your body needs to carry out the biological process of growth and metabolism. The liver is able to perform this function in a process known as gluconeogenesis.
@@Dontatmebr0 Top sport means putting all garbage into the body for top results. The results are injuries and organ malfunction and no one is talking about it. Even weekend marathon runners eat all sorts of garbage and a day or two after they are at the urologist. For my own satisfaction, I was studying cycling coaching, sports nutrition and sports psychology. Top sport is about winning and not about health.
Professor Tim Noakes proved years ago that there is no benefit of having muscle glycogen for athletes, what matters is blood sugar. When that drops, your brain will try to shut you down to save the carbs for itself. If one wish to perform at it's peak, he should consume some fast acting carbs periodically during high intensity, otherwise it is not required at all, liver glycogen will be there to the rescue. Also, intensity does not really matter, since 10-12% glucose will be utilized at all level.

The history of diet for older people. Everyone over 80 was born before the end of ww2, and their parents went through ww1. Food was rationed. Meat was scarce. Vegetables and canned, boxed, manufactured, food and army rations stretched out the animal protein to fill bellies. These older people grew up eating a war-time subsistence diet, and never knew any different. My mid-nineties parents (10yrs old at start of ww2) insist it's the healthiest diet, and raised me on it with home grown veg. Then on the other hand, my aunt in England just turned 97, eats the same, quite healthy, and still lives in her own house. Go figure!
I am no Dr or scientist but I have heard of essential fats (fatty acids) and essential amino acids (protein) but I have never heard of essential carbohydrates. I am by no means an expert but I would of thought someone somewhere would bang on about an essential carb if that was in fact the case especially one of our vegan brothers or sisters.
I went carnivore for a few weeks and then went to a Ketovore diet through fall/winter/spring. But in this humidity and heat I cannot survive in a huge factory with the temp very high (no air conditioning) and working very hard....I need Carbs. Or at least I feel better and have more strength with carbs. UPS is a very physical job in the warehouse. Carbs seem to help me with strength. I also lift weights really heavy. I agree carbs are sugars and not healthy. But any ideas WITHOUT supplements how to survive without them?
Interesting that you brought up the Olympics because it turns out they tried to go green by limiting or removing meat entirely from the diet of Olympians and many of them struggled to eat enough calories and protein from the whole grain goat food they were instead offered.
Carbs literally block your ability to burn fat. People that say to eat carbs, and that they lose weight, aren't doing your avg workouts. The avg person isn't going to put in tons, and tons of effort, day after day, to lose weight. They don't have the time for it, or the patience. They want instant results, and that's why 95% of people on CICO fail. You have to starve the body on CICO to lose fat. You don't have to do that if you remove carbs from your diet. Your every movement will burn fat for energy. Stop making everything so difficult on yourself, and get your health back, without being hungry.
When I told my doctor I ate red meat instead of lying and saying I eat fish and vegetables and I was told you will have high cholesterol. If that was true then why did my A1c go down from 7.2 to 6.2 in 3 months by avoiding most processed foods and eating mostly animal products and walking 5 miles almost everyday. I decided this time I will tell the truth instead of lying. I only eat carbs like rice now once every 3 months and if I do I eat very little and with meat.

Just going carnivore will only give you a level of health that is at the survival level - meaning, you can survive and have health, free from western labelled diseases. But if you want Peak Health - in which you experience Bliss, Joy, Love, etc. - as a result of a physically functioning body that is at it's peak - Then most people do need carbs, plants and vegetables in order to get to that level of balance. He didn't compete low carb. I believe he did that to maintain weight. "we also get a look at what Froome ate to fuel that epic ride, starting the day with a big breakfast of nearly 1,000 calories that includes 400g of rice, an omelette of three whites and one yolk, and four pancakes with jam."
@@mwbeck Yeah, the point is, that Keto and LCHF made him better - and made him win the TDF.
Sounds like it would never have happened without the keto diet. This is also the point of Shawns video here. It's nuts to eat 400 grams of rice and four pancakes with jam without being in an extreme competitive situation. Many other examples of LCHF competitors beating carb fueled.
Don't meteors fall?

Too bad there are no restaurants in Paris
I will continue to eat the miracle carnivore lifestyle for the rest of my days. I have seen and felt the proof.

There is a vast number of people who believe that if a MD prescribes a medication that it must be safe, effective and curative. One of those meds have to be the "magic bullet".
My liver can make all the glucose I need.
Here in Germany there ran TV adds with famous athletes eating Nutella for breakfast (back when I was still watching TV).😂 I always found it peculiar how it was always the fat kids and their moms seemingly assuming that consuming large amounts of chocolate would turn them into pro athletes! 😂
Most of the meat I eat are from animals that eat only plants .. so I’m covered
So tired of the top athletes need carbs. Always focusing on the 1%, which I'm not sold on, they "have to have carbs".
Just turning off the conveyor belt of processed food and sugar makes a HUGE difference. If people just did that we wouldn't have NEAR the health problems we have now.
True, but once you do that you are on a ketogenic diet which cuts out the processed garbage and carbs (sugars).
@@carnivorewhisperer5823 Nah. It's anywhere from vegan to lion at that point. Most people will likely be eating a balance of whole foods after doing this. When I say sugar I mean things that overtly contain sugar or are basically empty sugar calories (sodas, sweets, juices, alcohol, etc...). That's going to be a good, sustainable step for the vast majority of people to get them much healthier than they currently are.
@@dasfahrer8187 No doubt it will but vegan will only help you to a certain point before your body is not getting the nutrition it needs. Vegan is pure carbs which is all sugar. Sure the low carb wholefoods will help until your body starts missing the nutrients you can only get from meat. Supplements can only help so much.
@@carnivorewhisperer5823 You're likely going to be supplementing on both TBH. I've done keto, carnivore, vegan and a few others. Incidentally, vegan isn't pure carbs. That couldn't be more wrong. Some people seem to do really well on it, others don't. Same with carnivore/lion. Most people are going to be somewhere in-between. Regardless, it's all better than the common American convenience diet the vast majority of people are eating now.
@@dasfahrer8187 There are no supplements needed on a strict carnivore diet nor on a close to strict carnivore diet. Everything the body needs is in the meat.
Former marathoner, high carb eater here. That’s a terrible combination as I found out. Maybe some can get away with this. I actually gained body fat even though I was at the calorie deficit some like to hold up. WAY better health now being carnivore for 3 years with walking and body weight strength training.
Thx Doc B. 👍🇺🇸👍
The important thing is only you can know if the carnivore diet works for you! I'm so happy I tried the carnivore 7 weeks in and I don't think I will go back to the old way I was eating! Carnivore saved me and it is my new lifestyle!
People are waking up!!
Based on the direction the Olympics have gone over the years, with all the drug and doping scandals, I outright refuse to use an Olympic athlete as an example of what I should eat or how i should treat my body.
I had beef and eggs for breakfast, no need for very many carbs
I got it figured out, why society is against carnivore diet.....
If meat was all we eat, no casseroles, no recipes, then man would do all the cooking......and such would discover he no needs woman

Ive reached two years carnivore the other day wish id started sooner.
My performance while exercising has improved since I stopped eating carbs every day.
Top athletes are mostly like any other person, they just believe whatever the trend is. Of course some of them will investigate things on their own like we do.
I did Carnivore for 13 months. As of today I am done!!! I have iron overload and type 2 diabetes!! I ruined my health with this WOE. Plus, widespread diverticulosis as well.
I’m hoping we’ll see some more famous athletes going carnivore and improving their performance. Once that happens in a competitive sport like football I think you’ll see it explode across sports because everyone is trying to get an edge.

Most elite level rugby players in the 70s smoked and drank heavily, and this definitely doesn’t justify smoking and heavy drinking.
CARNIVORE FOR LIFE ❤🥩❤️🥩
Although I do a carnivore diet for health, it lowers my blood pressure while on it. I get no strength gains until I eat carbs again.
One of the most enduring myths about carbohydrates is that they are “essential” in the diet. Even the most basic biochemistry book will tell you that dietary carbohydrate is not an essential macronutrient, unlike protein and fat.
As the Institute of Medicine (IOM) states year-after-year in their Dietary Reference Intake Manual: "The lower limit of dietary carbohydrate compatible with life apparently is zero, provided that adequate amounts of protein and fat are consumed."
The key point is that you do not need to consume carbohydrates because your body can synthesize all the glucose your body needs to carry out the biological process of growth and metabolism. The liver is able to perform this function in a process known as gluconeogenesis.
All I eat yesterday was 1 pound pure hamburger without a bun.... No hyperglycemia...no need to sleep after eating
I am getting stronger for sure. More pushups, more squats, and more energy.
Thanks Doc! Check the spelling above your head.
Top sport training, and competing is not a healthy lifestyle.
Lol what?!?

Go figure!
"The most stupiest argument'? Does carnivore make you dyslexic?
More fat & protein
Interesting that you brought up the Olympics because it turns out they tried to go green by limiting or removing meat entirely from the diet of Olympians and many of them struggled to eat enough calories and protein from the whole grain goat food they were instead offered.
Stupiest was on purpose, right?
I eat meat because I love the taste of meat. I don't need any other reason to eat it.
Randle cycle indeed!
I'm not a fanatic, I don't think carnivore it's the best diet. What I do know it's that I've suffered sibo for 3 years , I'm a month in the carnivore diet and I have 0 symptoms. That's all I need to know.
But... all the other guys are eating carbs. Carbs MUST be good, right?

I love carnivore but I'm currently 8 weeks pregnant and can't find anything on if it's ok during pregnancy 😢
Definitely
but don't do it all at once, but gradually, eliminate processed food first, then pasta and potatoes, then the rest of the vegetables and finally fruit

Life is more than just mere good survival (carnivore). But if you are ok with that and only want that......your choice.
Wrong. More like the opposite of what you said. Survival food would be plants.
@@jona5517 "Wrong. More like the opposite of what you said. Survival food would be plants."

"Nothing in nutritional science has been established and that's why research still continues up to this day along with the debates."
You're assuming 'Nutritional science' is the way to determine how to obtain and maintain peak health?
Nutrition is only but one part.
Also, the approach of suffers like many of our other aspects of society of taking the science approach - Of looking at processes and components in an isolated manner, and not as a whole. It is completely lacking in looking at it from a Whole. That's is why no matter how much research is done - the desired result will never be achieved so long as that approach is followed/enabled.
" Any party making claims that they have finally figured it out is wrong"
Not true, as there has been the knowledge for such that has existed for thousands of years. - But because it interferes with the medical industry and other components of control - much of that knowledge and tradition of know how has been wiped out.
But it can be reclaimed.
"Yet,you came to this channel making claims that we only survive on this diet which shows your bias"
Not true, I was addressing those who actually do make the claim that 'you' only survive on such a diet. So it's not my bias, it's you denying there are such posters on this and other channels. Many have that same mentality with other diets like veganism. It's not a bias, because I've had many discussions with those who do take that 'stance'.
