I eat all beef hot dogs and all beef bologna. I also eat potted meat and vienna sausages. Better than waffles, frosted flakes, and a lot of other things.
Not cheaper than 100% beef patties however. You can get frozen beef patties for $4 a lb. Hot dogs are $4 a lb or more for decent ones. Why not just air fry a bunch of hamburger patties and have them ready to eat? Cleaner is better. No corn syrup and filler garbage. Viennas are good on the road though. Better isn’t best. For the last five years of our Jack Russell’s life, we fed her hotdogs because her teeth were getting bad. She loved the hot dogs! All of our friends were looking down their noses of us for feeding our dog hotdogs. It’s so so bad for her. Well, she just passed away, but she lived to a ripe ole age of almost 16. I don’t think she would’ve made it that long on bag dog food.
Good for you. We fed our German shepherds a mix of raw & cooked meat scraps all the time. The vet asked what we fed them because they lived to 17.5 years old. When we told him, he said keep doing that it's Obviously better for them then the store dog food. We even gave them chicken bones after we cooked them to a crumble for bone broth.
Wish I would have known about carnivore back when I got my first dog. He would have lived an even better life if I had just fed him meat throughout his life. I think I read somewhere that dogs currently live half as long as they should due to diet. Might be able to double their life expectancy just feeding them meat.

Have tried to help so many seniors, but most do not want to change their diet even though they have health issues based on their diet. Great to hear you can see it as a problem you can solve. On affordability, I have found that the cheapest cuts of meat like brisket is very affordable. It is only $1.99 per pound when on sale. Only problem is it is sold in packages about 7 to 15 lbs. also, you should be saving money with only meat and fat to buy for food. I no longer have waste on veggies and fruit. Also, ask the butcher for the fat trimmings from beef. I use it as my cooking oil. It can be free since they throw it away. I pay for mine, but it is still cheap at $1.99/lb for grass fed fat. Takes me months to finish it all.
Holy crap, I just checked the ingredients of a pack of hotdogs in my fridge and was totally shocked to find that I can pronounce all the ingredients…that’s a game changer for me (I love hotdogs).
Unfortunately a heep of salt, two plain hotdogs are 3400mg of SODIUM, yuck yuck. Yes we can have salt as a carnivore, but that is very high salt. I would never buy a package of any bodies hotdogs. I just water fast rather then eat a hotdog.. but that's just me & a lot of others as well.. Sure better than surgery cereals, but not best. Just pointing that out.. I have salt but I don't buy foods that are made with added salts..
@@harvdog5669 I just checked the nutrition label on a popular brand of all beef hot dogs and they have 380 mg of sodium, of course what you have right in front of you may be that high, but options for lower sodium are out there.

I love your videos Dr. Berry! You've turned me on to so many facts about the carnivore diet! I've been totally carnivore for nearly 2 years now and have never felt or looked better! I'm 66 years old and as ripped as a 30 year old athlete, maybe even more! I've always been an athlete myself and still work out with the HIT (High Intensity Training) method twice a week and take each set (one or two per body part only) to absolute failure. That's why I go 4-5 days between workouts. To enable my muscles to heal, strengthen and grow, especially at my age. I understand what your saying about the mixes of meat, collagen and fat content but when I was at the store today looking for all beef bologna and/or hot dogs, they all had corn syrup, some had sugar, along with a lot of other pronounceable ingredients! I personally do not want to consume this stuff, especially the high fructose corn syrup. Can you suggest a brand of bologna or hot dogs that does not have the corn syrup or sugar in it? If I could find some, I'd definitely eat a few rolled up pieces of bologna as a snack in the evening to go with some of the aged swiss, white cheddar, cheese curds and Dubliner cheese that I'll usually munch on. Thanks so much for all you do and all the information you share with us all! It's been invaluable to me!
Thanks Dr Ken. I’ve been wildly successful on carnivore the past 4 years but thought bologna and hot dogs were verboten. Now I’m adding them back in as options to my weekly diet! (Still gotta read the ingredients though- some brands use carby fillers).

Fortunately 3 years ago when I lost my job and could not find another one for a very long time for the 1st time in my life I had to learn how to stop spending money. A few months ago a really good job found me and I am back to rib eyes, t bones, pork chops, chicken breasts, salmon, sardines and lamb. But, now I like cold cuts with my quick lunch salads.
Most of you who follow Dr. Berry's channel already know this, but it's worth repeating: many hot dogs and bologna are loaded with added sugar and unnecessary junk. Take a moment to read the ingredients! Yes, you might spend an extra dollar or two for "no sugar added" or organic options, but your health is worth it. Dr Berry, Thanks for another great video. I first watched your videos about reducing sugar and your plain-spoken information is greatly appreciated. I got off track and will get back on with reducing sugar and dropping weight. I pretty much asked my doctor to stop prescribing pills and orient me toward lifestyle changes.

We really need to stress the difference between processed food and ULTRA-processed "food" and make that concept clear. Bang the drum!
Agreed!
whats the difference?

I wouldn't care. I'm carnivore, so anything handled too much is out for me.
Fortunately 3 years ago when I lost my job and could not find another one for a very long time for the 1st time in my life I had to learn how to stop spending money. Well, hot dogs and lunch meat on sale became my main source of protein and guess what? No problem at all except embarrassment.
And for those who think I’m a little extreme for picking up every package of bacon at the store-well, there's a reason. Bacon is often cured with sugar, too. Big Food is keeping us hooked and sick. Stay informed, be smart, and protect your health 💪
thank you everyone for being so kind and supportive May Blessings be upon you all
Thank Dog. For the last 2 months, all of a sudden ive fallen in love with Hot Dogs. Costco Prime. Yummmmy.
The USDA Prime 100% all beef hotdogs that Costco sells are fire! 🔥
Nathan's are absolutely Delicious too...! Just plain, all by it's self..!
Love hot dogs
AND bologna!
Been carnivore for 3 months. First month I went grass fed beef & lost weight quickly. After going broke & trying to find a consistent vendor to rely on, I eat ALDIs rib eyes 4 times a week. Weight loss has remained consistent and I feel just fine. I think it depends on the individual as this diet has no long term data supporting a whole lot but it’s effective to say the least.
Of course there's not...! "They" industry do not want this known.... unhealthy people are Great customers...!
Aldi also has relatively inexpensive grass fed ground beef also. Lately here, it has been 3.99 per lb. It is the staple for my dogs and myself.
@@davidfrye7713 That’s my 2nd go to David. 😂🤣 … Yep, ALDIs is great for this lifestyle. Pasture eggs there are the same price as the farmer I sometimes buy from.
I save money eating ribeyes... when you dont buy anything but steak, butter, eggs, and eat twice a day, you can do it.
Thank you for clearing this up, Dr. Berry. It also makes eating at events like ball games and BBQs or even amusment parks and movie theaters, less complicated.
Your videos are a great information source for me. And frankly, it would be great if you would respond to some confusing information coming from your peer online doctors. One doctor who’s 104 said to stop consuming milk, butter, cheese, etc. Contrasting that, another doctor said to consume them. My problem is that now it’s like a lot of them are just opining, but not collaborating. I’d like to see you cover a couple conflicting and confusing topics by conflicting doctors and help us discern between these opinions.
Thanks, Dr. Berry!
CV has brought my BP, BS & A1C all into perfect levels. I find myself defending the lifestyle with questions like: Have you ever seen a fat lion? Thanks Dr Berry
Thanks for the tips. I assumed bologna was off limits. Glad it’s an option. I appreciate your content. Super helpful!
You just made my day Dr Berry 👏🏻
Read the labels on the hot dogs. I just copied the ingredients on the back of one, here it is.. mechanically separated chicken, pork, corn syrup, water, 2% or less of: modified food starch, natural flavorings, salt, potassium lactate, beef sodium phosphates, paprika, sodium diacetate, sodium erythorbate, sodium nitrite, extractives of paprika. Always read ingredients!
@just_visiting6462 yeah I noticed a lot have sugar!
@@just_visiting6462 you can find it cleaner than this…
@@katiewagner7447LMFAO Does a Cheap Hotdog have 39 grams of Sugar or Corn Syrup ? I think NOT
@paulhailey2537 maybe not, but for those of us who struggle with food addiction, any little sugar is a problem.
@@paulhailey2537 Any sugar how ever it is worded is not in the carnivore Bible..
Thank you for explaining ultra processed, the way you put it makes sense! And ya not everyone can afford the insane prices on meat! Thanks again!
Totally agree about reading the ingredients. The one thing I look for first and foremost is Carbs/Sugar as part of the ingredients. If it has any of those, I avoid it like the plague.
Excellent message to the carnivore community; 71 yo here T2D eat all beef hotdogs, no sugar spike, good energy and feel good.
love your new glasses Dr. Berry. They look amazing
I'm glad to hear this, I like bologna and hot dogs. I remember as s kid my Mother making what she called ham salad for sandwiches. It was ground up bologna mixed with relish and mayonnaise, and tasted very good to me. I've still got her meat grinder, which is about 100 years old, and may make some ham salad myself.
I agree. Not all of us can afford steaks and other expensive meats; however, I do enjoy a ribeye steak occasionally. Thank you for speaking on this, Dr Berry. 🙂
Nathan's are absolutely Delicious....! Just plain, all by it's self..!
@@2869may Agreed! 😋
Thank you for all you do! your videos while controversial for some are very necessary.
_Best video....carnivore snobs should take NOTE!_
The ingredients you listed are what I find in the more expensive premium brands. The vast majority of cheap conventional hot dogs and bologna generally has corn syrup (as 2nd ingredient), sugar, dextrose, natural flavors etc
Rice flour, bamboo, maltodextrin, corn starch, modified maize starch, metabisulphates and sulphites, nitrates and nitrites, artificial sweeteners, colourings, etc. A long list of nasties.
@@alexmorgan3435 Yep exactly. This video is very misleading. Affordable hot dogs and clean list of ingredients don't go together. A pack of clean hot dogs costs more than a pound of ground beef
@@JYAN2852 true
@@JYAN2852 Bingo! What a weird push from the doc on this one...yeeeesh. Especially targeted for those without the means for expensive meats.
@@davidscher1620 Agree very misleading. I rather buy meats than cleaner expensive hot dogs or balogna. If anything, most meats are cheaper and more nutrient dense
I can't tell you how happy i was to hear this! I LOVE hot dogs and bologna!!
I definitely can not afford expensive meats. So this is great news!!
Thank you Dr Berry!
You just made me very happy. I love bologna and hot dogs. Thank the Lord!!!
Why do we say:
Now that's a bunch of bologna??
Why is the G silent??
Why is it when you tell the kids we're goin to the
Playground they yell HOT DOG!??
A HOT DAWG is neither hot or a dog!!
The name hot dog came from Coney Island NY!!
It was originally on a stick like a corn dog but
People didn't like it so a bun was invented and
The rest is history!!
I started carnivore 4 weeks ago i went from 250 to 230 so far I feel way better thank you for all this information its really changing my life my goal is 180
I also look on the package, which says : No Nitrites or Nitrates (except in smoking the meat). After gallbladder issues and surgery, I've switched to a lot of chicken and turkey: breakfast sausange, polish sausage, and hotdogs. 😊
That stuff killed my grandaddy. Took 88 years but finally got him .
Thank you for this video. Makes me feel so much better about my kid wanting to get a hot dog every time we go to Costco!
Even Kramer & Newman made sausage in Jerry's kitchen..😂😂
I don't remember that episode. I'll have to look for it. Thank you!
Sure did. 😂😂
Hahaha 😆 That’s the episode where Jerry’s personal trainer saw the sausages in Jerry’s kitchen and got ticked off. 😆😆 Made Jerry work out harder!
I forgot about that episode!🤣🤣
Thank you for thinking about normal people!
