I had an epiphanous realization about spiders/insects a of couple years ago, so I stopped (intentionally) killing them and started setting them free outside, it was tedious sometimes, but good for the soul. However, there was one night my wife and I were in bed talking, and suddenly there was a baby spider dangling down between our faces (and we were only inches away from each other). We look up just in time to see hundreds of baby spiders descending upon us in our bedroom... It. Was. Horrifying. I had done so well for so long not killing spiders... until that night. I went full Rambo on those poor devils. I didn't want to, but I had to, you know, for my marriage 😂

mjtremaine that's happened to me! not the dangling thing but when I was a kid, we lived in this trailer and every year without fail, we would wake up one summer day to my mother's blood curdling scream. she hates spiders, and for some reason they loved this one window in our living room. they would coat the thing so it was just a wall of black, and my mother would go psychotic that day. it was always the worst day of the year, and we lived there for about 6 years. I feel your pain, my friend.

I always say this but I will always feel this way: after seeing these behind the scenes, it makes me appreciate the videos and all you effort and hard work even more, especially because of the fact these videos are free! I haven't killed bugs since I was a teenager, and I find so much peace now as a result! I love spiders in the kitchen, they keep flies at bay and I talk to them (yeah I'm weird I know) - I was actually sad when my last kitchen spider died :(

Ugh. We're doing the bug thing too! We've had a spider in our bathroom for two months now and I can't stand it. BUT he has killed 4 flys and two other spiders soooo we keep him :)

Excellent use of basement! It's quiet and adaptable. By the way, you can very definitely get away with minimal makeup. Good bones! I do know that there is a discipline in rehab medicine that combines massage therapy with the use of aromatherapy. The training is quite demanding, as the students must become as knowledgeable as chemists AND anatomists, while also becoming psychologists.The patients are people who are trying to recover from emotional, psychological traumas as well as physical trauma. Years ago I found a video at a library covering the subject, and the therapists all spoke in the most gentle, soothing tones. Hypnotic. And that's when I discovered what I was looking for. Took me years to find ASMR. And it was you Maria!!!!

I think it's great that you're not killing bugs! I study ecology and all I can say is that they are soooo important to this world (not as much in urban areas I guess). Plus they are sentient beings and generally will not harm you harm you unless provoked.
Since I was about 6 years old I haven't intentionally killed any insect of any kind. I feel like humans are arrogant in thinking they don't have consciousness or emotion. Good to hear you doing this Maria =)

I think it's AWESOME that you're making an effort to let bugs be, even though it feels like they're intruding into your personal space :P If the bugs bother you in the future, just tell yourself that it is only society that tells you bugs are creepy, crawly and disgusting... they're a part of this world just like you and me, so it's okay to leave them be (unless they're hurting you in some way of course). Also, the natural makeup look suits you :)

I respect you so much for not killing the bugs! We have decided to only kill bugs if they enter our home (our territory...all animals defend their territory),but anywhere outside our four walls we never touch them. When we are outside we are in their territory and we respect them!

That is a wonderful choice about not killing insects, which are creatures just like us trying to make their way. And especially the spider you left will take care of any other spider you have in the house! I have left two in the corners of my dining room and no other bugs seem to be anywhere. :) I love your subtle makeup and if you would feel like doing a tutorial on the sassy Masha channel I would love it!!! Maria! Have you seen there is an ASMR exhibit at the Hirshhorn Museum in DC? The ASMR room is just a small part of the larger animation exhibit, but interesting to see nevertheless! I personally didn't experience any tingles from it, because I think they had the volume turned up way too loud! LOL. But it's so nice to see more and more people becoming familiar with the term. ❤

That's so interesting that you talked about killing spiders because just about a week ago there was a spider in my room and I killed it and I felt really guilty and that it never happened before and then a few days later there was a daddy long legs in my room and I refused to kill it I had no interest in harming him at all and all in all it was a little more effort but we set him free outside and honestly it feels much better to do that, personally
