There's a faster way. Pull up mold ground, place it, conveyor infected cavelings in two rows. Take off any damage/crit gear. Reset any damage perks (poison, crit, full HP, etc.). Use Grubzooka and MAYBE two Ivy Rings. If DPS is low enough, cavelings regen enough HP to not die. Credit to PraxDev for the method.
Ok this is legit! I just made one for my base having the legendary pick makes mining those walls so much eaiser! one thing I found that you may want to try is to dig out to the left of the boss then you can see when the health is low without moving.
If anyone didn't know. Her mortar attack does both damage and drops acid on the ground. If you place torches in every block the acid won't stick to the ground when the mortar attack lands. Also, I dug the ground out around the edge of her spawn area. It won't let you dig right on top of her, but you can dig out to void on the outer edge. Then you can shoot to your hearts content and the mobs can't get to you, etc. Also, I was trying to find out if someone made a wood farm with drills. I couldn't find a video on it. I've done it, and it works. Also, unlike ore it will never run out. So if you made a vid for that I'm sure others would appreciate the idea.
An update to this, they changed the way her acid mortar works, it now destroys torches. It's better to dig up the floor and use bridges instead, as acid pools aren't left behind on them :3
As of 2/1/2023, I was able to do this with the FIRST boss, the huge slime. The trick seems to be getting them just about half off the screen, but still in range to be hit. They don't agro on you or attack, (the slime boss just sat there) and as long as you've cleared the area, nothing else bothers you. You can even use his wall smashing to your advantage, as he clears enough space for you to have a clear shot at him from a safe distance if you get his attention once then back away for you to then use this trick safely without having to mine out the walls yourself.
I have yet to test it in high levels but I would go as far as to say glurtch is probably the most practical method of farming the ranged skill early game. If you stand just out of range you can shoot him without getting aggro’d and his health will regenerate as long you aren’t doing too much damage. This method applies to the hive mother as well but is more risky due to the surrounding mobs. (works best with the slingshot or presumably any low damage/high fire rate weapon)
i was doing this with the molten mass boss with phantom spark with range attack speed eq and no range attack bonuses, you could never deal enough damage to kill him and fire without stopping as long as you wanted.
Surrounding the boss with hive walls and make a 3 tile wide hall going to the boss. Cover the hall with torches, acid slime won't place over a torch. No slime, no mobs. Allows for melee attacks as well. Just side step 2 squares when in melee each attack from the boss. With the torches preventing the slime, you can just juke side to side 3 squares and go nuts. Nvm. Somone alrady told ya. Just saw the new vid.
Yeah I got a question How is exp gain calculated for combat skills? Does more damage mean more exp, or is it just about hitting stuff? Does the type of enemy affect the gain?
Brilliant! Good find my guy. I was wondering, you can actually shoot through corner gaps so could you make a long tunnel and just shoot the nonstop ads from her too? Also would that be considered a larva meat farm if they drop a bunch?
Another question, i've been wanting to automate a larva farm with spike traps and the conveyer arms to place items into a chest. Think its doable? Especially off the hive mother?
@@Serroh So I got curious and hopped on to see if I could make something. Unfortunately the larva attack the cranes so that wouldn’t work, but I got your ranges xp farm working longer. Make a circle around all the larva spawns and the boss(one big circle) have a single wide path going to one end and destroy the ground so nothing can get out at the end of the tunnel. Then mobs will funnel in and you can kill both boss and mobs by shooting down the single tunnel.
also can you find a way to make an auto matic farm using the larva that break all light sources including glow flowers ive been thinking about it but i dont think theres a way to automaticly replace and water the seeds
Probably been asked 100's of times, but is the exp bar based on enemies hit, or is it based on the amount of damage dealt. So if it's "hit based" then you're better off with a fast ranged weapon But if it's damage based, then it might be worth using a musket or something later?
A thought, haven't tested it, could you use the hand mortar on the mobs that get stuck in the corner of the walls near their given spawners? I'm just wondering if using AoE (so you're hitting multiple mobs) could possibly yield more skill exp.
Thats great yes but isnt it better to fokus also more on killing the mobs for lvln Vit also? i think u kill also shot all of those without getting hit by the acid. Yes they die but u just need to go 5m and have the next spot to kill
what u mean by to far? how many blocks? 14 like hivemother? - actually hivemother dont works anymore like shown in vid, they eat the walls now which are placed around the "spawner"

Pretty sure hitting a boss gives more xp and is therefore faster.
@@Berrut3000 this hits multiple at a time. Surely bosses don't give triple exp.
This is still the best way in 1.0

Break the carapace floor. It looks like a bunch of shells. Use a pick. The grubs naturally spawn on carapace floor. As slimes do with slime floor
I like the shovel only takes one right click and it picks it up so you can save it

Do it from the left side so you can see her HP better. :)

Yep you could! I was doing some testing on that but the spawning seemed inconsistent. Definitely potential for a mob farm and I’ll work on it more
@@neonnemesis5139 I bet you could. I have something like that set up for slimes, having a larva one would be amazing

Do you think its more efficient to use the hand motar & just make a pit wall separating you from the enemy's that constantly spawn n just shoot em
I wouldn’t recommend the mortar

how do you dig up the mold floorsa i cant reposition them with my shovel
Sometimes they have pink-ish tendrils on top - you have to break those with a pickaxe first, then you can get it with a shovel.
I like the game, but it is such a grind
yeah the skills need adjusted for sure
malugaz boss is work same but its a bit hard to spawn him
Yeah if I could find him lol
the best way is to attacking slime boss far away, the boss regen itself, and won't aggro on you, just bring some repair bench. Thank me later :)
Slime boss health pool is too low, better off doing it on Hive Mother or Ivy
How can you craft a blowdart?
You can't craft it, It can only be obtain from the mobs in the Mould Biome and chest in there
how do you dig that wall?
You can dig larvae wall with iron pickaxe (5 or 6 hits I think). Maybe with lower tier too but it's much slower.
Is the xp based on hits or damage?
hit
