Yea you really have to be careful when trying to pull the screen off from the surface pro. i feel like its best to simply heat a bit longer then to pry with a tool and break the screen. in this case, heat is your tool to loosen up the adhesive and a lot of patience. the plastic tool is but a guidance to lift the screen.
You can replace the battery without taking the mainboard out... BUT... you definately need to remove the hidden screw under the webcam/microphone connector shield. Take out all the other screws up the USB port and then you can lift the board slightly to slide the new battery in.
Brilliant. My issue was just the battery, but I wasn't so lucky. A friend managed to open my Surface up without damaging the screen too badly. But the frame's melted a little bit. We've replaced the battery just fine, but it wouldn't turn on. Then it did once, so we closed it up but after that it would never turn on again. My money is on the on/off module (the left speaker module). I'ms till to procure a new one and try that.
Yes, these screens are hard to get off without breaking them or melting the plastic. Keeping the temp low and taking your time is good. Also keeping the heat moving constantly. It might be the battery connection that is not sitting right. Its a bit fiddly to get it seated right.
I damaged what i guess are the wifi ribbon and something else cables at the top of the tablet when I removed the screen. I didn't know about these and my spatula thing was on the wrong side of them when I was trying to prise thw whole thing open. How can I replace these? Or fix it in some way? They are really delicate - why would they put it under the glue!
i had a surface pro 4 battery blotted but screen was not cracked and was able to remove no damage however when replaced touch is not working any suggestions?
Wow this looks scary. So later on when I inevitably replace the battery do you think the speaker connection coming off like it did for you will be a problem for me? Iv taken many computers, phones, tablets apart and fixed them in the end so I do have experience but seeing how easily that connector came off worries me.
It was quite scary to do :-) The speaker connection might just have been bad luck or clumsy on my side. But, now you are aware of it you can be extra careful. Good luck for when do replace your battery
Hi i’ve replced the battery with a new one. The surface can start and everything work. But when i plug in power cable i se clicking on icon battery some Times the message battery not detected and some time “pluged in not charging”. Why?
Do not get a surface pro 4 screen. You will get the flickergate problem. You can get a sp5 screen and a conversion cable. You will need to take your digitizer from the old screen and put it on a new screen.
@@athousandprojects its a well documented scandle online over the past few years. microsoft intentionally designed flaws in their system for profit. the warranties ran out on most of the sp4 models before they said they made a mistake. Hi, This is the link to the place I bought the screen from www.replacebase.co.uk/microsoft-surface-pro-4-replacement-complete-lcd-touch-screen-glass-assembly-oem
Dear I want to consult you: I replaced the screen of my surface 5 pro 1796 with another of the same P / N, it was working very well for a whole day, after a win10 update, coincidentally the touch no longer works. I restored the Windows as factory, I also tried booting in UEFI mode and the touch no longer works, it is inoperative. I have my doubts: 1- When did Windows also update the firmware of the touch control board, is the firmware incompatible? 2- When the touch is connected or disconnected, the screen always works ok. 3- I have installed two screens and the same thing happens, after Windows is updated, the touch no longer works. The screens I have bought from aliexpress, they are reconditioned. Has anyone had a similar experience?
hmm - well... I spent an awful lot of time doing this.... there was a lot of footage.... you would have fallen asleep :-). This was really more about my experience than a tutorial on how to do it.
Hope u can share a video replacing a surface pro 5 LG panel with a new LG flex cable conversion connecting to a surface pro 4 unit.. in detail.

Wish I knew that when I did this 👍🏻
Can you point me to a video showing this? Thanks

A Thousand Projects Thanks a bunch! 🙂

Thank you for sharing...
are all ltl123yl01-* screens inter compatible with model 1724
What type of double sided tape did you use to reattach the screen?
Hi, 5mm 50 meters 3M 9448 black Double Sided Adhesive Tape. Worked a treat
Can i get gas out from swellon battery rather than replace it since it working well
Hi, no, you need to replace the battery. There is no way to repair it and the battery is now dangerous.
Hi i’ve replced the battery with a new one. The surface can start and everything work. But when i plug in power cable i se clicking on icon battery some Times the message battery not detected and some time “pluged in not charging”.
Why?
Its likely the connection to the battery is not good. You will have op open it up again and check.
I managed to fix it. I bought a second original battery and it worked.. don't buy compatible batteries !!

Interesting, I'm not having that issue, but good to know :-)

How much to do that?
The Battery was £55 and the touch screen was £135.... but it took me hours! to do.
How are we supposed to see what is going on when you speed up the video, really a waste of time watching it.

what is this brutality? i took it off without nothing braking
