Ordered a Blue Chin. Wbu?
got the pink!
Yellow. Think it has quite a classic look (mostly the vivid back, of course)

The chin? I think that is what makes it an iMac in the first place. Without it, it would be just some random screen. I love my 2020 iMac with the large chin.
Those chins are beautiful ! A Mac without a chin wouldn’t be an iMac
The obsession with the chin is disappointing. So much hot air has been added to the planet to no purpose.
Can't understand why some folks complain about the chin and the colours or the white bezel. For me the new iMac is just amazing, ordered mine in blue - hopefully it will be here by end of may 😜

Honestly, I love the design, Chin and all.. it’s distinctively an iMac. I will look great in my hone since my color theme is mostly white. Perfect.
Hi Daniel, you always have great advice. I'm deciding whether to upgrade my 2013 macbook pro to the macbook air or the new imac.
chin is not ugly. this is a a modern take on a classic. I think it looks great. white bezels are fine. the white macbook with white bezels was one of apples best selling laptops ever.
$500 for a skin you have to install yourself is insane!

But in this case, it is totally worth it.
I presume it's because they expect to sell 2 of them. It's basically make-to-order, and thus extremely expensive to make. Most people will buy the bezel skin only... a few will buy the chin skin, too. Those can be made 10k at a time. Economy of scale.

Would you recommend 8GB or 16GB unified memory for Logic Pro on the entry iMAC (7-core GPU)?
My wall is always white, I use iMac for work, so all photos and documents look floating on the wall or in the air with those white bezel. Works for me
Yes and I think it’s great for people who use light mode. I know lots of people use the dark modes now, but for those who don’t, the white bezels are not a big issue.
great no BS content, straight to the point, I loved it, sure is great value for money. I am going to see it in person before getting one, silver one for me! I like the 24" size. Dont need anything bigger.

High end orange model bought on launch day. It will be replacing my 16” MacBook Pro. I was hoping for a larger screen size option but 24” will be a considerable improvement on what I already have.

You'll need a DisplayLink adapter.

The whole black bezels being more immersive argument seems to neglect the fact that the surrounding areas around, over and behind the computer probably won't be black. My wall isn't black, my desk isn't black. my computer speakers aren't black. Cubicles aren't black. Yeah preferably there should be no bezels, but there are. The fact that the iMac isn't another run-of-the-mil black/silver electronic gives it character. Besides, the human eye has the capability of focusing on a specific area and isolating the area of focus from it's surroundings, so the surrounding white borders will be negligible. Even if they aren't, we're getting a 24" 4.5K display, premium speakers, premium microphone, a biometric recharging keyboard, a touch sensitive mouse, a decent webcam, and a state of the art processor.
The external power supply is GENIUS! You can’t imagine how many of those can go bad because of an outage or bad weather. Getting it replaced is expensive and you had to take the display off and risk breaking it, void your warranty and many things can go wrong. This is just waaaay more simple ☺️
What sells the 24” iMac for me is the 4.5k screen. Although the Air is also a possibility, with an external screen, mouse and keyboard coming later if necessary. I’m also considering the mini.

Thanks, Daniel, for explains the new iMac. Not sure I’m ready to upgrade just quite yet. I do love Touch ID. I have it on my Pro and phone, would love to have on my Mac. I’m a little nervous about only 256gb storage but maybe I shouldn’t be? I use Illustrator and Photoshop at times. I hope the new iMac would be powerful enough and 256gb would be okay. I would want the extended keyboard that I have now, too. A lot of this stuff is over my head, but I might watch again to see if I can understand it better. Love your videos, thanks for breaking things down and bringing new info on possible changes. I would get the black skin for the monitor. What was Apple thinking?
Watch MaxTech channel he does talk a lot in his reviews. Uses several different benchmarks softwares and more.
I really don‘t have a problem with the chin… good space to grab the display to adjust to your sitting position, stick post-its to it or maybe even some sort of phone holder…, or simply enjoy the color you selected for your iMac.
Excellent review. I just ordered the top-end model with 2GB of storage. I am hopefully future-proofed for eight years or so.

9:44 How does one step on a power cord? Virtually everyone has their desk at the wall and 10:05 there are many people out that have it worse with wiring so one thick cord isn't gonna do much compared to the ones that have a bunch of cords.
Why are people complaining and acting like apple didn’t do colours and white bezels in the original iMac? This is obviously a throwback to the g3 iMac..
I will wait until the bugs you point out are fixed with IMac. I will go with portable. Such cool music for your site.
This was a nice breakdown of things to know prior to placing an order for a new 24-inch iMac system. One item that, I feel most reviewers miss is the fact these new colorful 24-inch iMac's are so light weight, they are really a portable desktop computer. Very easy to carry from room to room in a home, or to pick-up and drive it to your favorite coffee shop (smile...smile).
can't wait to see how fast my new iMac will be compared to my current one which is 10 years old, not that it's bad, it actually still works well, but now I need something I can actually use for my job as a designer

You said the iMac is larger than the 23.7" Ultrafine display. Isn't the iMac 23,5" though? Apple just rounds it up to 24", so it's actually smaller.

All iMacs have had a chin. It’s part of the trade mark. I prefer white bezels. The black bezels are common and cheap.

I ordered the vesa version, cause it's gonna hang on my kitchen wall. Just a little afraid of how much space the magsafe-power takes. Apple should have made a slim magsafe version for the vesa model.

You are slightly wrong about the monitor size difference. The LG is 23.7" and the iMac is 23.5". Not saying that is an issue at all for me.
Holding out for 32” imac
The display is only 23.5”” (apple website) and the last iMac with TDM was the 2013 non retina iMac

The chin is what makes an iMac an iMac. The chin makes it instantly recognizable as an iMac even without the Apple logo. I don’t mind the chin being there Anyways 🤷🏾♂️

Or you can get the VESA mount and won't have to see a stand, and have more flexibility with the height and actual location, and more space on your desk if you mount it on the wall, or the edge of your desk.
The disadvantage of the Desktops over the Mac Books is that they have a battery and if you currently plugged in and the power goes out, the desktop will go down, and you didn't get to save what you are working on, or properly shut it down, and you can't work on it until your power goes back on. That is unless you have a generator hooked up to your house or a battery backup on your computer and Internet connection device. On the Mac Books and I-Pads, you will be on battery and can use it till the battery goes dead.

I bought a yellow iMac on the release date and I'm so excited! Being completely new to MacOS and mac computers in general, I'm not picking about the design and bezels. I love that the device has white bezels as it will blend so well with my surroundings. The chin is one of my favorite aspects of the design because it shows the pastel-like color of the iMac. For some odd reason, the minimalistic design reminds me of the Nintendo Switch Lite which comes in softer colors like yellow and turquoise. I feel so great that I'll have a solid quality product that has a unique design.

I'd prefer iMac. I'm using almost 6 years old iMac and would update it once there may be available iMac with bigger screen.
the iMac is 23.5" and therefore smaller than the Ultrafine 4k, also the difference is 600 dollars, not 500 ;)

It's really a mixed bag for me... I love the new colors and I could totally rock the red one. But I'd miss the Apple logo on the chin like crazy....! Hardware-wise, Apple is abusing its territory as far as the M1 gets. If I buy an iMac, I expect it to perform better than a laptop...
Anyways, I just finished paying up the iMac Pro 5K that I bought, and I don't see an upgrade coming my way for at least another 2 to 3 years...
Now, my laptop, though, is really old, and I might decide to upgrade THAT for the Macbook Pro... We will see. Tks for the video. Nicely done.

A work of art needs a frame around it. Bezels aren't a big deal on a desktop. A mobile device, that is different story.

Correction. The LG ultra fine display is actually slightly larger. Per apples spec the iMac has a 23.5” screen rounded up. See footnotes on apples website

I think from your video it's clear that you hate this new iMac. But I think this version it's simply not created for you. This is a premium Desktop computer for Home Users, for this purpose I thinks It meets all the requirement, I personally love the design and the Basels, I think it's iconic, recognizable and the color offer makes it very fresh. For professional heavy workflows we will have to wait for the high end versions that I'm sure will have black Basels and higher specs all across board.
If the display isn’t too important to you or if you already have peripherals then the Mac Mini is better value.
It has more ports and an extra GPU core.

Black electrical tape will resolve the white edge problem on the new imac and save some money

White borders compliment the iMac colors better than black.
Backlight on white or pale keyboards suck. Remember the Powerbook G4.

I keep looking at vids hoping to be convinced by them, but i just cant warm to them, i think i am going to go for a mac mini and external high quality display for the home.
The chin is standard iMac design it’s not going to change it is what recognizable.
Please HELP: So, I am going to get the base model now and spend the extra 200 bucks to upgrade the SSD (512) and an extra $50 to get the keyboard with TOUCH ID. I really don't care about the extra GPU core/Ethernet/2 extra USB c ports as I am an everyday freelnacer. Trying to get the best bang of the bucks!! How is my decision???
Also, The "Magic Keyboard with Touch ID - US Versions" is the international version.....right? Because I live in Bangladesh.

If I can't get afford a Pro Display XDR after I buy my camera equipment, I'll buy a yellow or green spec'd out iMac.
A traditional plug for the cable on the back would have been too big to plug in just like the headphone jack. That’s why they chose to make a magnetic one. To be able to keep the overall thinness of the design.
I'd like to see a capacitor onboard with enough power for a save-state if someone does accidentally remove the power cord.
