    The story of “Greeny” is shrouded in mystery, but few guitars are as illustrious. Greeny is one of the most iconic original Les Paul Standards ever made, with a unique sound as recognisable as the guitar itself. Previously owned by Peter Green, it was used throughout his time with Fleetwood Mac and later sold to Gary Moore, who used it for three decades with Thin Lizzy and as a solo artist. Now owned by Kirk Hammett, Greeny has passed through the hands of three legendary guitarists!
    Its distinctive sound is partly from the out-of-phase middle switch position due to the neck pickup’s reversed magnetic polarity. The Epiphone Kirk Hammett "Greeny" Les Paul Standard is a collaboration between Epiphone and the Gibson Custom Shop. This exceptional guitar was inspired by Kirk's legendary original and allows players around the world the opportunity to experience some of the magic of "Greeny" for themselves.
    It features premium components, including Gibson USA Greenybucker pickups with the neck pickup reverse mounted and complete with a reverse polarity magnet, a Switchcraft pickup selector and 1/4" output jack, CTS potentiometers, Mallory capacitors, and Grover Rotomatic tuners with spade-style buttons on a Gibson-style “open book” headstock. A vintage-style brown and pink hardshell case is also included!

    I could watch Dagan play all day!...Nice axe, great sound. I'm not intimidated by the price. The case is worth $150-$200. That makes the axe about $1300. That 'open book' headstock that everyone's been wanting Epiphone to do for decades is finally here...Fantastic demo, Dagan! You hit every tone that axe could possibly make. Keep us ROCKIN'!

    Dagan you make that greeeny sound awesome i put greenybuckers in my Lazarus and it took my guitar to a new level, and i bought Trogly's Epi Greeny for a great price under 1500 because of the gibson headstock and the mother of pearl inlays.
    im now complete. cheers Dagan happy holidays.........

    I mean that’s a lot of money for Epiphone, pretty much £1500. I got my 59 epiphone from PMT, love it to bits as it’s Honda incredible but it’s pretty much the same for half the price. If you’re a super fan I get it🤷🏼‍♂️

    The phase switch is a must have push/pull mod on all my guitars, its such a cool sound.
    As far as the epi goes a bit much costwise but so is all the competition now. It's nicely spec'd out and unlike some other brands at this price comes with a case.
    Great vid as per usual sir :)

      Yeah someone told me a while back that Gibson are fully aware of their issues and are overhauling the company from the bottom level up, so starting with Epiphone, who have leveled up in recent years. And for what it's worth I've played one of these and it was fantastic, genuinely a match for any USA Gibson I've played, better than most actually. But idk about the QC so playing one superb example doesn't mean I trust all of them to be that good.

    Les Paul began construction on what would become the Log in 1939 after befriending Epiphone owner Epi Stathopoulo. Epi gave Les the keys to the company’s New York factory, where Les worked on the design after hours.
    His somewhat crude invention consisted of a four-inch by four-inch block of pine, on which he attached a neck, bridge and pickups. He played the instrument live but people were initially bewildered by its unorthodox appearance. No matter. Les Paul had a clever response.
    The luthier cut an Epiphone hollowbody in two and attached the two halves to either side of his four-by-four-inch slab. It was now essentially a through-neck construction, only with a separate neck piece. But, crucially, it looked not unlike a regular guitar. Its central pine slab also reduced feedback issues and increased sustain, while the guitar also featured a vibrato bridge patented by Doc Kauffman, the Vibrola. This is the Log as we know it.

    Look at the specs on this 2019 epiphone exclusive deluxe limited run Sg Pro G 400 Gibson boy..look at the build quality... don't say anything about the AAA flamed maple veneer because we all know Gibson uses veneer on the 335..339.. headstock and backs of the Gibson Les Pauls....
    Classic 60s Era "Solid Guitar"
    The G-400 Deluxe PRO is inspired by the first generation of SGs made in the 1960s at the legendary Gibson and Epiphone factory in Kalamazoo, Michigan that produced the Les Paul and the Casino. The SG model was originally intended to replace the Les Paul, which temporarily went out of production from 1961-1968. The new G-400 Deluxe PRO is constructed using the same dimensions and build techniques as vintage SGs and features a AAA Flame Maple Veneer top with a Mahogany body and neck with a comfortable 1960's SlimTaper 'D' profile and a 24.75" scale length. The Pau Ferro fingerboard has single ply binding with pearloid Trapezoid inlays, 22 medium jumbo frets, a 12" radius, and an adjustable truss rod with a 'bell' cover.

    • @HarryLime-ge6dc
      @HarryLime-ge6dc 3 месяца назад

      The ES series is especially interesting because Gibson AND Epiphone have always built their 335, 345, and 355's out of: plywood! So , even upgrading the wiring harness, pickups, etc, there's still a major discrepancy in price. I bought a newer Epiphone 335 dot "husk" with the new headstock (not the full Gibson open book) assembled the wiring harness with Gavett cloth covered wire, CTS pots, Switchcraft jack and toggle switch, Gibson Burstbucker 1 & 2 pick-ups, a roller bridge and bigsby B-7, and Grover tuners, and it's an absolute dream. For what I would pay for a new Epiphone stock 335, and some elbow grease, I have a professional quality, gig worthy instrument that I couldn't imagine improving on! And I even used all gold hardware!

  • @nlk8818
    @nlk8818 7 месяцев назад +4

    Also, the fingerboard is not made of rosewood, but of laurel, like all Epi. We are waiting for the sale of -40% of the price in a year, as well as the overpriced Epi Slash.

    I honestly don’t get why people waste so much time complaining about things like this! And don’t get why this and its Gibson counterparts are “controversial” it’s a fucking guitar either buy it or don’t! If this guitar isn’t your cup of tea then you can buy the Epiphone LP Standard 59 that comes in the same color but has Gibson Burstbuckers and the “inspired by Gibson” headstock for $899 to $999 depending on where you get it. I can’t afford any of them but you bet if I had $1500 I’d buy this guitar over any on the market right now! And the number 1 reason would be that headstock I’m pretty sure it’s the first time since the 90s we have an Epiphone with the traditional Gibson headstock which looks way better then any Epiphone headstock ever has! I own one of those old LP’s and love it! I lucked out because a friend of mine hated how heavy it is so he traded it to me. But can we all agree that we live in a great time for instruments like this to exist!

    When you’re chasing tone you pay what they’re asking or you don’t have the tone. I
    continually hear people say they wouldnt pay this or that for an Epi… I disagree. Everything and I do mean everything these days is expensive. Look and listen to what you’re getting… a specific tone capable of a wall of sonic creation. This one in particular is worth recording within your DAW. I know that for a fact❤ that tone inside your head… this baby IS that period. Try it for yourself… I did 💯

    Ive been waiting for this guitar since the KH interview with gibson a few years ago.
    I worked out that this was gonna happen, i was saying im gonna buy it, then i saw the price tag.
    I loved Peter Green and Gary Moore, but £1500 or so, i think is just a too high, if it was around £1000, that would sit better with me.
    As it would be more or less same price as buying the Epiphone 59 model (which was available in the same colour), which has gibson pickups, just get a tech to flip magnet, and its there, or buying a set of alnico 2 pickup and have put in, would of cost around £1k.
    I'd still like to try one for myself, but i think ill pass on this.
    What has surprised me in some respects is that a copy of a guitar that is so revered, has not sold out in most places that i normally shop at.

    Guitar prices are just disgusting where the big brands are concerned. I can afford what I want, but I only buy sub £1k these days, from "lesser" brands. I know this is an Epiphone, but I'm not giving Fender / Gibson eight fucking grand for a few pieces of wood, and parts that cost couple of hundred of quid. Masterbuilt is just admitting that a three grand custom shop is shit.

So far they didn’t replace the Tribute.

    You can do so much better for the price of this. Overpriced and not worth it

    I've bought the 1959 Epiphone Les Paul, and it's one of the worst guitars I've ever bought. Not worth the money, slow neck, weird dry wood, terrible fret work, and even though the pickups are Gibson, the bridge is garbage. I'd rather have a proper Schecter or a PRS for that money. Now they're asking for more money for the "Greeny".

    You talk so fast with the English accent and no CC, so It's often difficult for this yank to understand you, but I try.
