The songs on this album aren't done with reaching their peaks just yet, as of an update from the UK Singles Chart today "Man's Not Hot" by Big Shaq has reached a new peak of #3, MK's "17" has climbed to #7 and Rag 'n' Bone Man's "(Grace) We All Try" has finally got into the charts at #83 which now means all the songs on this album now have a chart position of some sort :)

A recent example of this has happened with NOW 112, where Cian Ducrot's "All For You", which hadn't cracked the Top 40 when the album was released, has now peaked within the Top 30.

Hey, Rob! Well, the Now! crew have done it again! They're so close to 100! I wonder what they'll do for their 100th album.
Anyway, let's go over Now! 98.
It's got most of the recent hits. The big notable missing song is DJ Khaled, Rihanna and Bryson Tiller's "Wild Thoughts." I don't know why it wasn't on here consideirng "I'm the One" was on Now! 97. It wasn't on Now! 64 in the US either. I don't think we'll be seeing it on Now! 99 as it'll be too old by then. Speaking of too old, we didn't get Charlie Puth's "Attention" here either. We instead got his new song "How Long." It's always strange that Now! albums always don't include certain songs despite being popular & despite having songs on Now! albums before.
On many of the older Now! albums (like from the 80's-mid 2000's), they've also blatantly ignored despite several artists despite being popular at the time & having high-charting songs. Whitney Houston, despite having many top 10's and 4 #1's never got on a Now! album until Now! 74 with "Million Dollar Bill." They held off on including Destiny's Child until "Survivor" on Now! 49 despite having a few top 10s before with "Bills, Bills, Bills," "Say My Name," and "Independent Women." Westlife wasn't included on a Now! album until Now! 50 with "Uptown Girl" (quite a bit late, as that song should've probably been on Now! 48), despite having several #1s before including "Swear it Again," "If I Let You Go," "Flying Without Wings" and "Fool Again." Avril Lavigne, despite having some top 10 hits in the early-mid 2000's like "Complicated," "Sk8er Boi" and "Don't Tell Me" never got on a Now! album until "Girlfriend" on Now! 67. And Green Day had some top 10's in 2004-2005 with "American Idiot," "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" and "Wake Me Up When September Ends," and they never made a Now! appearance! And those aren't even the only examples. Why do you think they ignored those artists, Rob?
Anyway, back to Now! 98. Craig David's "Heartline" is on here. It's strange, Craig David has had a bit of a comeback over the past year. He's made several Now! appearances since 2016 including "When the Bassline Drops" on Now! 93, "One More Time" on Now! 94, "All We Needed" on Now! 95, and even 2 double appearances on the latter 2 albums. Strange, as Craig David hasn't been on a Now! album since Now! 68 back in 2007 with "Hot Stuff," and he hadn't had a huge hit since back in 2000 with "Fill Me In" on Now! 45 and "7 Days" on Now! 47, both of which hit #1. How did he make a comeback?
Nice to see Now! 98 doesn't have many big chart-floppers, unlike Now! 97 which had some very noticeable and low-charting floppers. Only 2 floppers stand out on Now! 98--Rag'n'Bone Man's "Grace," which didn't even chart at all, and The Killers' "The Man" which charted at #63. But hey, it's nice to see The Killers back on a Now! album. They haven't been on one since back in 2009 with "Human" on Now! 72. (Hey, that's also the name of a Rag'n'Bone Man song!). I have a feeling Ms. Fisher includes low-charting songs to appeal to people who like certain artists who didn't have high-charting songs, or wants to appeal to people with slightly different music tastes. Or maybe both.
I can't pick a favorite song as I haven't heard many of these songs, but it looks like it's a good album.
Anyway, that's all I gotta say. 2 more to go till Now! 100!

P0CK3TB00K Hey there P0CK3TBOOK thanks for your comment and it's nice to hear from you again, may I start by saying when you said that this album doesn't have many chart floppers 'unlike Now 98' were you supposed to say Now 97? I'm guessing you were. Let's get onto talking about this album.
Yes I thought they were going to include 'Wild Thoughts' but then people were saying it wasn't on here due to it featuring Rihanna however the Calvin Harris song 'This is What You Came for' featured Rihanna and that still got onto Now 94. I believe that was Rihanna's first appearance on a Now album since 'Diamonds' on Now 84, she hasn't featured as a solo artist since which is strange as she was one of Now!'s most frequently included artists before then.
When they first released the tracklisting for this album I immediately thought "How come Galway Girl by Ed Sheeran and How Long by Charlie Puth made this album yet we didn't get Shape of You and Attention on Now 97? It frustrates me when they do this because like you said they included a lot of chart floppers on Now 97 when they could have included those two. Also makes the fact they included Charlie Puth's 'Dangerously' on Now 95 very questionable when it wasn't even released as a single! Hence why it didn't chart. So why would they put a non charting Charlie Puth song on a Now! album and miss off a decent charting #9 single (Attention) on a Now!? It does bug me when they do this. It also reminds me of Now 87 when they missed off 'Trumpets' by Jason Derulo and 'Magic' by Coldplay yet the two follow ups to those singles 'Wiggle' and 'A Sky Full of Stars' both feature on Now 88. Now 87 also included 'Timber' by Pitbull featuring Ke$ha, and "Kids Again' by Example but we never got the follow up to those two singles 'Wild Wild Love' and 'One More Day (Stay with Me)' on Now 88. Why Now! are somewhat inconsistent with their tracklist selections I will never know.
I think it's fair to say that this album is pretty bang average and in my opinion none of the Now! albums released this year have been outstanding, the last really good one in my opinion was Now 95 and yes like you said one thing I can credit this album for is that every song has charted in the top 40 of the singles chart apart from 'Grace' by Rag'n'Bone Man and 'The Man' by The Killers (very strange inclusion) which is why I prefer this album in a way over Now 97 as like you said had a good handful of songs that failed to make the top 40.
Out of the two CD'S I think I prefer CD 2 as it has more songs I like on there, especially the cluster of Indie rock songs at the end, (you know I like my indie music) and I also really like the opening two tracks on CD 2 as well especially the Avicii one. It does however suffer from having the worst two songs on the album in my opinion 'Man's Not Hot' and 'Bodak Yellow' but despite this, I still prefer it to CD 1 which in my opinion is really lacking for me, not enough stand out tracks though I do like 'Galway Girl' and 'I Miss You'. What's your opinion on the album and which CD do you prefer P0CK3TBOOK?
      Thanks once again

    20. Tom Walker - Leave a Light On
    21. Elbow - Golden Slumbers
    22. Calum Scott and Leona Lewis - You Are the Reason
I've still got room for 1 or 2 more songs on CD 2, but what do you think, Rob? Are there any songs you know of that will be released after next week that might make it on the album? "Wolves," "17," and "Man's Not Hot" all reached the top 10 AFTER the Now! 98 tracklist was released (the latter after the ALBUM was released). I tried to include some songs that looked like they'd reached the top 10 in the coming weeks ("Paradise," "Say Something," "Let Me Go," "Lullaby), as well as other songs that look like they might make it onto the tracklist ("Dancing," "If You Leave Me Now"). If you can find any other soon-to-be-released songs, let me know, Rob! Jenny Fisher seems to know that some songs she picks that haven't been released or charted yet end up becoming top 10 or top 20 hits. Let me know what you think, Rob? Have you gotten some predictions made yet?
Also P.S. remember how last year I said the cover of Now! 96 wasn't really spring-themed? Well, the cover of Now! 99 doesn't really look spring-themed either. It's still nice-looking and colorful, but colored bubbles aren't really something I associate with spring. I remember you telling me last year that they seem to be running out of cover ideas. I doubt they'll totally run out of cover ideas, but it does look like they're stretching for spring album covers. I'm surprised they haven't done kites for a spring album yet. Kites are very spring-themed. Maybe they'll do that for Now! 102 (assuming they don't end the series at Now! 100). The Now! 100 cover is bound to look flashy & celebratory.
    Anyway, thanks, Rob.
-P0CK3TB00K (P.S. You can also call me "Simeon," that's my real name. I'll also accept "Norbert" since that's what I go by on Twitter and on cartoon-related stuff)

sorry I'm late to comment on this but another Great video Robert I think this album slightly beats out Now 97 to be my favourite album of the year but to me there are three big exclusions Wild Thoughts by DJ Khaled feat Rihanna and Bryson Tiller. I firmly believe Rhianna doesn't want her stuff on Now albums anymore. there's no Look What You Made Me Do by Taylor Swift no surprise there as I think it's been rumoured that her stuff might be being pulled from streaming services again. the third big exclusion is Subreme La Radio by Enrique Igalicas this one baffles me because he's always appeared on Now albums before but overall a great tracklist

Zak Sharman Thanks Zak and yes I agree with you on all 3 of those the first two are the most obvious ones but I also believe the Enrique Iglesias song made #10 in the charts? This is the second decent charting Enrique song to be missed off a Now album with the first one being 'Takin' Back My Love' featuring Ciara which I think peaked slightly lower at #12 but should have been on Now 73.

Well, Rob, the tracklist for Now! 99 was announced. I did slightly change them since I posted them, swapping some tracks out, but I got 31/45 tracks right!
Unfortunately, the album still has a few floppers on it--Rag'n'Bone Man's "As You Are" which didn't chart (yet), U2's "You're the Best Thing About Me" which peaked at #92, Demi Lovato's "Tell Me You Love Me" which peaked at #97, and Maroon 5's "Wait" which peaked at #79. It's always strange Ms. Fisher includes those, considering there's plenty of top 10 songs they didn't include--Liam Payne and Rita Ora's "For You" (though that's understandable, with the exception of "Love Me Like You Do," none of the Fifty Shades of Grey songs have ever appeared on a Now! album), Kendrick Lamar and SZA's "All the Money," or any of The Greatest Showman songs... There are also no #1s on this album, much like Now! 94 and Now! 96. This is the second time they've left out a #1 Ed Sheeran song with "Shape of You" on Now! 96, and now "Perfect" here. I didn't expect "River" or "God's Plan" to be on here because Eminem and Drake have mostly been ignored on Now! albums, though it is surprising to see Taylor Swift back all of a sudden with "...Ready For It?." I guess since she put her music back on Spotify, she's okay with appearing on Now! albums again.
I also noticed there's a number of "older" Now! artists that have made it on here. Kylie Minogue, who hasn't been on a Now! album since Now! 77 in 2010 is back with "Dancing," U2, who hasn't been on a Now! album since Now! 72, is back with "Dancing," the previously mentioned U2 is back with "You're the Best Thing About Me" (even if that song did hugely flop, only getting to #92), and possibly one of the strangest choices on a Now! album I've ever seen... Oasis' "Live Forever." Very strange that a song from 1994 is on a 2018 album. The song did re-enter the charts in mid-2017 at #45, but even then, that's not great, and it's still strange. I am aware Now! tracklists sometimes include songs from recently-deceased artists (like "Fastlove" on Now! 96 and "Boys That Sing" on Now! 94), or songs that have re-entered the charts at notable positions (like "Imagine" on Now! 45 and "Everywhere" on Now! 84), but a song that re-entered at #45? And it's been over half a year since that made that re-enter, so on top of being not that noteworthy of a song, it's also outdated even by that. Though it is still nice to see all those artists back on Now! albums.
What do you think of the tracklist, Rob?

    • @robertatkinson1347
      @robertatkinson1347  6 лет назад +3

P0CK3TB00K I actually like it the only downside is that there's no number ones, 'Perfect' has followed the footsteps of 'Shape of You' by not appearing on a Now album and I wasn't expecting 'River' as it is an Eminem song who of course has only featured as a lead artist once on a Now album (Without Me on Now 53) and the Drake song 'God's Plan' will probably be on Now 100 you know why? As you've probably noticed as of late his songs have appeared on later Now's! rather than the one that they should have been on. For instance 'Hotline Bling' should have been on Now 92 but didn't appear until Now 94 and 'One Dance' was more suitable for Now 94 but didn't appear until the next one Now 95 so I wouldn't write Drake out just yet.
Yes there is a lot of artists that appear that haven't been on Now albums for a while e.g Kylie Minogue, U2 and Oasis and this really took me by surprise :O I was really surprised to see 'Live Forever' on here as you say it hasn't charted high of late and it is of course the final track on CD 2 of the album and the final track of CD 1 on Now 33. Not gonna complain though I do like Oasis and although it's not my favourite song by them it's still pretty good and like Now 98 it has put all the rock tracks towards the end of CD 2 which I like.
Another thing I would like to say is that I was questioning whether 'These Days' by Rudimental would be on here due to it featuring Macklemore as he has never featured on a Now album before and it also surprised me further by being CD 1 Track 1 a future number 1 perhaps? I suppose because Macklemore is a featured artist they could get away with it like they did by featuring Beyonce (who doesn't appear as a lead artist on Now albums anymore) on the Naughty Boy track 'Runnin' which of course was on Now 92 and yes the inclusion of the Taylor Swift track surprised me as well as she hasn't been on a Now for a while but yeah like you said her songs being back on Spotify is probably the reason it's on here.
So yeah that's my overall opinion on the tracklist and I've gone into a lot of detail which I hope you appreciate as my reply's have been quite short of late. So now that they've revealed the tracklisting I'm looking forward to it being released as well as making the tracklist video for it :D
      Thanks once again P0CK3TBOOK

Here's my rankings on Demi's albums including her 2023 grunge rock remix album of her older stuff:
    95%: Demi (2013), Unbroken (2011)
    90%: Here We Go Again (2009), Don't Forget (2008)
85%: REVAMPED (2023), HOLY FVCK (2022), Dancing With The Devil: The Art Of Starting Over (2021)
80%: Tell Me You Love Me (2017)
    75%: Confident (2015)
I really really like Demi's music and I would have to say I like her the same way I like Ariana and Meghan Trainor 😀 although Selena may have the better music/songwise, I prefer Demi's talent of vocals, songwriting and lyrics as they're so meaningful and also the fact that she had it hard with her mental health struggles. The same thing between Britney and Christina as Christina might have the better talent of vocals, songwriting and lyrics but I still prefer Britney but I love both of them and I would say Selena is just as good as Christina with Christina being slightly better 😍 who do you prefer more, Demi or Selena or do you find them on par? 👌

What do you think of the Now 99 tracklist to me it's a very weak album with a lot of notable exclusions Perfect by Ed Sheeran which is strange considering Galway Girl was on Now 98 I wonder if Ed doesn't like licensing his No 1 songs. the next is God's Plan by Drake I had a feeling it wouldn't be on here River by Eminem isn't on it which is no surprise given we haven't seen any songs from him on a Now album since Now 53 For You By Liam Payne and Rita Ora which is a rather baffling exclusion to me. the only reason I can think of why it wouldn't be on it is because it's a movie soundtrack but Love Me Like You Do was on Now 91 so what gives Now? All The Stars by Kendrick Lamar and SZA isn't featured because surprise surprise it's a movie soundtrack song same applies to The Weeknd song which I can't remember it's name and finally nothing from The Greatest Showman which again is a movie soundtrack. There are some surprising inclusions as well. Taylor Swift is a shock to me considering she hasn't been on a Now album since Now 85 so why change now? U2 is another surprise because that song hasn't charted at all and finally Oasis Live Forever is repeated from Now 33. I hate when Now do this. So what do you think Robert and sorry for the long comment

P0CK3TB00K Yeah me too, as I personally thought this album (Now 98) was a bit of a let down :/
Here's a couple of reasons why it should deliver:-
      * It is of course just one album away from Now 100 and being the final two number digit album needs to finish them off on a high
*Now 39 and Now 69 were both strong Spring Now albums so this one ought to be as well, not sure about Now 9 though, as it was out before I was born! Was Now 9 even a spring Now album anyway?
Plus I hope the new songs from Sigala and 5SOS which you of course had in your predictions which entered the charts the Friday just gone are both included I would also like to see which Indie/Rock tracks are included as like I've said to you before is my favourite genre of music :D we shall wait and see!

@@sddk2k8theavabebezaraduafan66 yeah 81 is a strange NOW I think the fact that 80 is so poor makes 81 look good, when in fact it's average/fairly good in my opinion but still not as good as 82 and 83 which in turn makes it the weakest NOW of 2012. 81 being much better than 80 and 99 being much better than 98 are two classic examples of a spring album being a much better follow up to the previous winter one. This is also the case with 30 being much better than 29.
