    On the BPD video despite the guests saying the behavior of the person with BPD is not attention seeking there are still others saying it is how heartless. I live with this and in no way am I trying to manipulate people when I self harm or use other actions it is only to help ground me to the present to feel something other than the high emotion.

      Jennifer Berry As a parent of a BPD child... no one ever explains it like you just did and the video. So, the average way of living and dealing in society is to say if you didn't do it ... then you're just angling for attention, manipulation or a power struggle. Bless you for writing and I trust it'll get better as you just helped me.

      I speak for myself. I believe that am very aware of the daily impact and stress that I put on the people i love.

      Vanessa Stagh you can be aware of this and still not be doing it to manipulate. Or get attention. I am also very aware of the stress that my self harm and crisis put on people however I do not self harm or try to end my life to get attention from others. I self harm because sometimes I can not feel anything or I self harm to try and relieve crazy high intensity emotion. None of it is to gain attention. This again is just me speaking for myself. I honestly feel like the majority of people with BOD understand the stress and issue it causes once they become aware that they have the diagnosis.

      You dont even think of anybody....you are like you are in ur own world!!No one or nothing exists at that moment!Ppl that wants to judge have to walk a mile in ur shoes before adding their opinion!!

    I actually practiced a lot of meditations about mindfulness, it's so simple to do this it requires just sitting in a quiet place and listening to your thoughts. You don't try to judge your thoughts just listen to them as they flow in and out of your mind. I also went to a great meditation center close to the sea and this is really helpful as it's so calming to see the waves coming and going as you are listening to your thoughts. I'm not completely cured it's something I have to work on everyday. I still get into situations where I overreact to things.

    10:40 Being aware of judgement (and we need judgement to get through our day) if you feel judgemental and are calling an opinion a fact and being judgey under the influence of strong emotions. The need to distinguish what you THINK is happening with what IS happening. This is core mindfulness! For the super foundational skill of DBT. The shorthand for remembering mindfulness is PAY ATTENTION to what you’re thinking, pay attention to what you’re feeling, pay attention to where you are, pay attention to what you are doing, pay attention to this moment.

      Sounds like Buddhism, converted into a western idea called 'dbt'
      So the person can more blend into what that western world wants them to be.

    DBT was introduced to me through a private group last year then i really caught onto the wise mind thing and the idea of mindfulness rang a bell. Dialectical behavioral therapy is very good indeed it works for the blocks that exist--

    These vids are really helpful because in just two days of watching them and reading about BPD, it has already helped. Now when I feel that certain type of emo reaction I think “Ohhh... wait... this is one of those BPD reactions.” And then I calm down. It’s like when you’re shopping for something, and you see it labeled Leather, but you look closer and you can tell it’s fake leather. You just kind of move on, because you want the real thing. A BPD emotion has a completely different feel inside than a genuine emotion.
    The skills being taught in DBT used to be taught by good parents. That’s when parenting was considered a highly valuable skill that people were proud of, and wasn’t handed off to the daycare down the street or the 22 year old nanny, so that “parents” could buy more clothes, a bigger house, and European vacations. - Oops- a little BPD slipped in there! 🤯😁

    So helpful. I have Emotional Dysregulation Disorder(basically BPD but with a name easier for me to except) I appreciate you doing a piece on this. 🙌🏻

      Geniuslove16 I prefer EDD as well. Makes more sense to me and is helps others understand what the issue is.

    I love DBT. I'm in group therapy right now and its helping. Not saying I don't have bad days but I'm now able to tolerate and accept my feelings and able to self sooth in a more productive way. I actually want to do another 12 week program in the winter months.

      @@AnnaSzabo It was at our local hospital. I live in Canada but I'm sure you could find something in your area. Ask your doctor or call your local hospital for mental health support, I'm sure they have programs in your area.

    What I found interesting is that one of my friends recommended me some books on Chinese traditional poetry i.e. 聲律啟蒙 and 笠翁對韻. There's a firm balance shifting from the positive to the negative and vice versa in these poems. Yeah I am a bit obsessive about studying Chinese these days and have created some traditional style poems. I am under the impression that I can transform both positive moods and negative moods in the poems this way. Which seems fulfilling. Then also there is the term 雅人 meaning poetic individual / person of refined temperament. Got me wondering...

    For over 30 years I have suffered, I don't believe there is a "fix" for anyone who has had this for extremely long periods. This "Homework" treatment sucks, it only makes me feel worse

    Regarding discussion at the end about “accepting reality” - what if the reality is abuse - how should that be accepted? And aren’t there often power differentials in determining which emotions can be expressed and which can’t - or, more to the point, who can express certain emotions and others for whom these same emotions are banned? And when you add the factor of abuse, what then?

      Acceptance isn’t at all the same as condoning (22:30).. that’s a very important distinction.

      For me it was the therapist not validating REALITY of how frustrating it was for client In Demo dbt about more things being piled on like a job while going to school and the mother focused on what ENDLESS chores the client could do for her. That Reality was not VALIDATED yet it is critical .
      Then the THERAPIST played up a false Reality by stating slowly over exaggerated loudly " your mother certainly knows all the pressure you're under" . Umm that's a half truth, the mother knew but could not care. There is a distinction. I think it would be helpful to say to the client the reality that the mother whose paying for theraphy since the girl is struggling in college , actually can not *consider helping by asking about school work since dishes or house chores are what is most beneficial for lady paying theraphy bill. That and getting straight A 's and working a job now. Its non- empathy and self centered of payee of dbt. Maybe client needed tutor and job minding a non busy store to focus on school instead of housecleaning 101 and serving ungrateful people.
      When dealing with a real liar they never apologize nor do they seem to have gotten an empathy chip. Scary stuff.
      I did not interpret the client in other video mentioned above as ungrateful or lazy, rather I felt her expressing she did not experience being validated or nurtured nor was payee encouraging as towards school assistance or participation with client . " As soon as I walked in door it was chores mentioned" . Kind of hard to build on positives when ppl are being torn down and heaped upon at same time. Crazy making. The answer for Not condoning abuse is to not be in proximity . Doesn't sound like the payee is interested in helping with school work but is interested in the job search and chores with theraphy to help it all come about and oh chores . What a task master the payee seemed.
      Maybe it was just my perception of expectations being slanted. Wonder if client was based on person who eventually married quick or moved out quick. Dropped school , went for job to escape living accommodations? Interesting memorable technique* learned being used to focus on appeasement / compliance of demands of payee.

      The emotions and thoughts of someone who mentally and physically and emotionally consumes others, while invalidating and disregarding the target person, That is the" Only Persons emotions who matters" LIKE YOU MENTIONED. YOU ARE ON TARGET ABOUT TYRANTS, scary stuff.

      Not either or. Not black and white, lots of gray. Dialectic implies a back and forth. On one side of the coin is total acceptance of self and the overall reality. No judgement or blame. On the other side, employing skills that lead to change, to solving problems and situations. Learning and practicing those skills so life gets better.

    I went to a therapist who said that they were a trained expert in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy but she ended up being an alcoholic and missed two appointments out of three and gave the most pathetic excuses that would make the next door's neighbour's cat laugh.......bad luck but I moved on.

    18:48 no way, you teach people how to be picky and treat their superiors more nicely than normal people. I know you are explaining how to motivate people showing them benefits, but at the same time you are oblivious how ugly and narcissistic some things are, and actually pWBPD probably already know, and behave themselves better with their 'boss'.
    It's like in other video you tald that you see yourself as a different people at home and at work. doesn't feel right for me

      @@patriciaclark1492 checked your comment, but i still think that we have too many cases when people work as thepapists but it's not their calling.
      About current video - i just don't like that interpersonal relationships presented only as a negotiation, like you behave yourself in a particular way to get benefits, ingratiating.
      I am not sure if they are really discussing DBT, or something they just see as DBT. I am subscribed to other channels like AllCEUs Counseling Education, Surviving Narcissism and so on

    If she found Buddhism to work better than CBT then why did she take ten steps backwards to go back and make a new useless talk therapy. How is talk therapy in any way beneficial to people who were verbally abused all their life?????? Very exclusive and plus woman if CBT didn’t work for you then why the hell did you go back and force some other failure
