Putting crystal, emerald and black 2 so low is criminal. They have by far the most content of any pokemon game. The pokemon world tournament for b/w 2, the second map for Crystal, the battle frontier, etc.. It feels like the reviewers haven't played those games.
That's what happens when you sort a series based on review scores while removing the review context around the game. It's because when they make the list by sorting review scores, it will reflect poorly on the third games which reviewers were reviewing solely by additional content. The third part of these games are objectively better, but the review scores don't reflect that because it's only the additional content that gets reviewed in them.

Ranking the explorers games that low should be a crime. They are incredible games, Explorers of Sky happens to be in my top 5 favorite games of all time.
A major flaw of this list is putting the premium versions of the games (Crystal, Emerald, Platinum) behind the original pairs in their generations. It's widely agreed upon by fans that the premium versions are better. They never sold as well because most gamers already had played the original versions and the premium games just don't really offer enough to justify buying essentially the same game again. I have to say, Scarlet and Violet was the best experience I had in a mainline Pokémon game sense X and Y. Me and my wife played together and completed the Pokédex. Buggy as all hell? Yep. But it was leaps and bounds better than Sword and Shield, experience wise.
Playing thru this now and I’m actually pleasantly surprised. I expected Scarlet to be so much worse and I’m honestly having a kick with it. My sister got violet so we are both playing thru it like we did with red and blue when we were kids. Ah good times

I think it was fairly criticised for it's performance. It runs terribly. But in terms of gameplay - Game Freak are at least going in the right direction since Arceus.
@@battlep0t I think the criticism was fair but the impact on the gameplay it had was a little lopsided. I know a lot of people at my job that will go on and on about the bugs even though they never played the game but have no clue about the game play. Mostly because the negative aspects were kind of over covered by the news compared to its positives. To a casual pokemon playing audience I think it rates a lot higher overall then the critiques and scores might suggest.
Heads up, your credit from the Pokémon Art Academy is wrong. I tried to find it in JackLiberty0's channel and it didn't exist. I think the footage you took is from the Game Grumps.
Man, I know the hate for Scarlet and Violet is basically traditional at this point. But I've never had that much fun in a Pokemon game for hours on end. First time in a decade I actually woke up and went straight into playing. There's just something about it. It fails a critic's marking guide sure, but its so damn fun.
I was the same, it was very weird to hear about. Was it people using online functions that caused it? For a while I thought a lot of people were just carrying on.
Emerald being that low is a travesty. Being able to beat both teams down, plus the Battle Frontier? It's the OBJECTIVELY best of the third gen entries. Un-fucking-believable
I love these deluxe length TripleJump rankings, I’ve been enjoying the entire ride taking the mickey out of the Rumble series, and then Mystery Dungeon 2 appeared inbetween two PC games I’ve never heard of within the bottom 20 and I feel the intense need to add some rope to my Amazon basket
Just to set the record straight, Pokemon Card GB2 is amazing and should, if anything, be higher than the first game. It expands on the first game so much, there are so many more cards, so many more ways to build your deck (it includes the first round of Team Rocket cards that got released, as well as tons of vending machine promos never printed in the US and GB exclusives). Unlike the first game which only has so many viable strategies, and you're likely to get whatever you want to use by the end - there's so many more cards in the second game that the RNG of what you pull from packs matters significantly for what your options are, making it incredibly replayable. Every gym on the new island has special challenges where your deck has to meet certain prerequisites, like having 4 Rattatas, or only using a certain kind of energy, usually putting you at some kind of disadvantage (or preventing you from steamrolling them with the perfect counter). Like you said, it wasn't released outside of Japan, and the first time I played it was with a romhack that translated everything essential to progression - but these days there are fully translated English roms out there. If you are someone who was a fan of the first Pokemon TCG GB game, you are doing yourself a HUGE disservice not playvvving the sequel. It's a PHENOMENAL experience for any fan of the genre.v
This is the issue with creating lists based solely on review scores. Review scores are probably the furthest thing from an objective ranking you could get, especially when you're ranking a series that has multiple genres and potential fan bases to cater to.
Here are some ideas for your next ranked list: - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Dragonball - Metal Gear - Tiny Toon Adventures - Power Rangers - X-Men - Transformers - Crash Bandicoot - Godzilla - Marvel Comics - Spyro
@boydriceisawesome2520 I enjoy mindless 1v1000 games on occasion, I forget when I've said this but different games, even of the same genre scratch different itches, I equally enjoy heavy political stories like the legend of heroes trails as much as I do a lighthearted romp with a certain purple dragon. I also judge every game as it's own even when their part of a series that's why my opinion on paper mario sticker star, good or bad, wasn't colored by disappointment that it wasn't the next thousand year door.
1. Crystal because it added so much that became the norm for all games going forward and I remember how cool that I found the new changes. Crystal was the first to add animated pokemon in battles, a battle tower, male/female character, a sign at the bottom of the screen telling you the name of the area that youve just entered, and it started more focus on sub quests meaning that there was more to do alongside following the main storyline.
Really nice to see something that covers X/Y without falling into the usual trap of _"I don't like Gen 6. This Pokemon/character/location/mechanic/anything is from Gen 6. Therefore, it sucks"_ that you see so often with Pokemon RUclips Reviewers. I'd say they're probably among my favourite games in the series!

@@friendlyotaku9525 They have some of the worst region building and Paldea has the worst atmosphere of any region as well yet in the games. Thats utterly pathetic, horrific and bland route and cave designs with zero intricacies unlike gens 1-6, plus theres absolutely ZERO town lore or myths that other generations had that made places stand out. Not being able to enter half the buildings, how most of the routes have nearly the exact same layouts and same textures with no differences, the game not focusing on exploration despite being an "open world" game! So much fun. You can't even go any way you want because if you try chances are you'll be knocked out by trainers WAY higher level than you because you tried to go a way that the game didn't want you to take yet. Noclipping through an entire cave is so much fun as well totally, cant forget the floor disappearing from view sometimes! Nothing that made Johto special and beloved by most of the fanbase like the dance theater, the towers directly influenced by Japanese culture, nothing that made Hoenn special like the houses literally built in trees, the bike route and the scoreboard, the trick house, the battle tents. Nothing that made Sinnoh or Unova special either. The only good part is the storyline and not even that can save it because the characters are so utterly bland.
The lets play games better than Crystal? Come on. And fire Red and leaf green are the definitive kanto games. How are they worst than the original red and blue?
In defense of Pokemon Battle Revolution, at the time there was no way to battle on the big screen. It was a huge deal at the time that the DS could connect to it allowing you and your friends to battle on the big screen with your DSs. Less impressive now a days but huge in the gen 4 era.
Sun and Moon were fantastic. I loved how, rather than some evil guy trying to harness a legendary pokemon you don't see until the final story hour, the box legendary is your friend throughout the entire game and plays a role in protecting you.
Genuinely kind of annoyed by how often you’ve put way more playable remakes and third versions below the originals. Platinum especially, which is still my favourite individual game of the series.

27:22: OK this one I am REALLY arguing. I'm sorry. I don't normally dispute you're placements, but on this one I feel you got it way off. I found this much more engaging and fun than almost ALL the main lineup. I honestly think it should have been at least in the mid to high 20s AT MINIMUM. anyway I said my peace. And counted to three.

Did you guys even play the games? This list doesn't make sense
flipadelphiia bites the crub 4k
Heads up, your credit from the Pokémon Art Academy is wrong. I tried to find it in JackLiberty0's channel and it didn't exist. I think the footage you took is from the Game Grumps.
Man, I know the hate for Scarlet and Violet is basically traditional at this point. But I've never had that much fun in a Pokemon game for hours on end. First time in a decade I actually woke up and went straight into playing. There's just something about it. It fails a critic's marking guide sure, but its so damn fun.
Bravo good sirs, you mad lads you. Content like this and the hard work y’all put into it is why I love your channel.
Mega Man games from worst to best, please.
Pokémon Dash seems like a mini game from Pokémon stadium 2 turned into a full game.
I have to be honest. When I played Scarlett when it first came out, I was surprised with the low reviews cause I had no technical problems at all.
I had 1 frame rate slowdown but other than that, smooth sailing
same, 0 problems because i didnt played it on a switch :D
Just cuz you didn't experience any technical issues, doesn't mean anyone else didn't.
I was thinking the same thing
Wow you sure are mad
@@lpnp9477 baffled more so.
How anyone would think R/S are better than Emerald is beyond me
Same for them claiming platinum is worst than diamond and pearl
They’ve done it. They’ve only gone and bloody done it.
I was IN LOVE with Lugia and Dialga as a kid. They looked so fucking cool
Whoever's idea it was to use that specific footage during the Pokemon Art Academy entry, it's your fault I'm having nightmares tonight.
If you think they're bad, you should check out the playthrough on Game Grumps/Steam Train. Especially when Ross was in control.
As a quintessential 90s kid, it's hard to describe to the younger generation just how immense of an impact that first 2 generations had in the world
01:45:09: "Director's Cut" is right, since the Director Cut out Lillie's character development...
Love your content! These mega list videos save me during long days at work
Just to set the record straight, Pokemon Card GB2 is amazing and should, if anything, be higher than the first game.
This video is great good job
I refuse to believe you put X/Y/SHIELD/SWORD/SCARLET above pkmn explorers
They do these lists by collating review scores - it's not their opinion
he put cafe mix above explorers of sky, this list is just randomly sorted
Nevermind that, he put Gates to Infinity over explorers, shuffle and the rumble games
This is the issue with creating lists based solely on review scores. Review scores are probably the furthest thing from an objective ranking you could get, especially when you're ranking a series that has multiple genres and potential fan bases to cater to.
Here are some ideas for your next ranked list:
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
- Dragonball
- Metal Gear
- Tiny Toon Adventures
- Power Rangers
- X-Men
- Transformers
- Crash Bandicoot
- Godzilla
- Marvel Comics
- Spyro
Dragon Ball should be next
Let's be real, if you play the originals now, you play 3rd installment in each mainline title.
Nope, couldn't be more wrong
@@sanders7368 so you are telling me, you would play Ruby or Sapphire instead of Emerald?
I enjoyed the mystery dungeon and rumble series.
There are TWO of us!!
Mystery dungeon I understand but rumble really?
@@boydriceisawesome2520 filled the same void as Dynasty Warriors/Hyrule Warriors for me!
@@wastelanderone hey you can like whatever you want i just find it weird haha but awesome if you enjoyed it
@boydriceisawesome2520 I enjoy mindless 1v1000 games on occasion, I forget when I've said this but different games, even of the same genre scratch different itches, I equally enjoy heavy political stories like the legend of heroes trails as much as I do a lighthearted romp with a certain purple dragon. I also judge every game as it's own even when their part of a series that's why my opinion on paper mario sticker star, good or bad, wasn't colored by disappointment that it wasn't the next thousand year door.
Fun video, thank you! I really enjoyed it!
I thought emerald would be top 3 jesus Christ
Yeah but instead Crystal and Emerald are below G/S and R/S...like what
they are even below go pikachu/go eve, this list is a mess. maybe next time they shouldnt be so stiff and not go so extremly by critics rating.
Too much 🌊
I'm at work checking on my food from laughing too hard at "Oak Daddy"! Thanks Ben
Can you do a “Every Video Game Ranked WORST to BEST” video?
Really nice to see something that covers X/Y without falling into the usual trap of _"I don't like Gen 6. This Pokemon/character/location/mechanic/anything is from Gen 6. Therefore, it sucks"_ that you see so often with Pokemon RUclips Reviewers. I'd say they're probably among my favourite games in the series!
Idk why, but hearing Ben say "Wii!" so many times during PokePark Wii's segment made me laugh. 😂
I really like this vid!
Did anyone else like Pokemon Shuffle? I actually was digging it for a while on 3ds. I thought it was kinda deep!
Amazing list. The writer did fantasic research! Id love to see Rare games ranked
Baffled at how the suggestion the souls silver and heart gold had “minimal effort” and “didn’t deserve to get the praise it get but gets it anyway” is insane
8:25 ROY and Hayley: is this some incredibly niche Coronation Street reference?
I love reviews by people that haven’t actually played the games
The absolute disrespect to Mystery Dungeon and Emerald in this video. Nah
This certainly won't rustle some jimmies. 😅
Also, I'll make my request known again, please do a rankem of all weapon based racing games. Rules 1, you have to do laps around a track and 2, you fire at least one weapon, like Xtreme G for example
I was not expecting a Simon Miller cameo but I give it an up
Seems to be the first one they've done in a while, honestly missed the Simon miller impressions haha.
Yes! I've waited for this. This is madness. I hope ranking games is easier than ranking the pokemén themselves.
No this list has to be much harder, they did no research on the ranking the pokemon list, here they at least had to go looking for info on obscure games
The absurdity of this list makes me nervous that other franchises i don't know that much about may be this absurd as well!
How did you decide the rankings?
The Pokepark games combined with Mystery Dungeon is a great concept. An Action-RPG collectathon is something I'm still waiting for, and especially a Metroidvania style Pokemon game where you can switch the characters.
Wow, here we go! I'm surprised this was uploaded on a Monday though, as "From WORST to BEST" videos were usually uploaded on a Friday.
You've done all the explorer games so dirty here lads
No, they’re exactly where they should be. Niche, poor sales, and a very small fanbase is all they’ll ever be.
I don't even like Pokemon but getting a Simon Miller "cameo" more than 2 hours in was worth it.
Plus I love all the jokes along the way :)
Yeahh, people aren’t gonna be happy with this one
It’s such a shame that Scarlet and Violet were released in such an unfinished state. Scarlet was the most fun I’ve had with a Pokémon game in years.
Main series games ranking:
22. Scarlet/Violet 54:08
21. BDSP 1:00:48
20. Emerald 1:11:37
19. Crystal 1:20:58
18. Black 2/White 2 1:22:16
17. Let's Go Pikachu 1:26:04
16. Sword/Shield 1:27:27
15. Let's Go Eevee 1:30:15
14. FRLG 1:32:47
13. ORAS 1:36:38
12. Platinum 1:41:45
11. Legends Arceus 1:43:05
10. USUM 1:44:47
9. Ruby/Sapphire 1:47:53
8. Diamond/Pearl 1:52:57
7. Yellow 1:56:10
6. HGSS 1:57:39
5. Black/White 2:00:50
4. XY 2:03:46
3. Sun/Moon 2:07:00
2. Red/Blue 2:10:08
1. Gold/Silver 2:13:45
Yeah I'm sorry, I get opinions and all that but this might be the worst list I've ever seen.
@@friendlyotaku9525 I got the picture that this wasn't opinion based. But it's still a joke of a list. And probably somewhat biased as well.
@@friendlyotaku9525 I somewhat agree but at least Scatlet and Vomit is low. Swoshit should be even lower.
@shewolfcub3 Scarlet and Violet are among the best in the series imo and I will stand by that.
Never expected to see Gail Platt in a Pokemon video lmao thanks for that!
Explorers of Darkness in 77th is like insulting my heritage.
Sun and Moon were fantastic. I loved how, rather than some evil guy trying to harness a legendary pokemon you don't see until the final story hour, the box legendary is your friend throughout the entire game and plays a role in protecting you.
Pokémon play it and the card game on the gameboy were my jam!!! Loved those games because they taught me how to properly play the card game
30:18 They probably wanted to call them 'pixelmon' but that was already a minecraft mod
Turtwig is clearly a turtle, what the hell
Pokemon black 2/white 2 being this low is wild.
My copy of pokemon silver got destroyed when my mom washed my pants with the cartridge in my pocket...
Pokemon Emerald, and Pokemon Black & White 🔥🦾
Genuinely kind of annoyed by how often you’ve put way more playable remakes and third versions below the originals. Platinum especially, which is still my favourite individual game of the series.
was waiting for pokemon battle revolution. i remember as a kid the animations for the moves would amaze me. nowadays, definitely not really worth playing unless you're curious about move animations but man as a kid it was amazing
Every Atlus game ever please!
I know these games were ranked by review scores, but Gale of Darkness is objectively better than sword and shields in terms of story and graphics.
27:22: OK this one I am REALLY arguing. This has to be one of the best mystery dungeon titles in existence, with some fun music, a nice storyline, a huge roster you could play as, lots of replay value.... and you put it in the 70s of your rankings. I'm sorry. I don't normally dispute you're placements, but on this one I feel you got it way off. I found this much more engaging and fun than almost ALL the main lineup. I honestly think it should have been at least in the mid to high 20s AT MINIMUM. anyway I said my peace. And counted to three.
I was a big fan of the original Snap as a kid, and had accepted that it was likely dead and buried. I was so ecstatic to hear about the new one, and it did not disappoint!
How long was this video in production that a Wilko reference snuck in lmao
I cant believe you put emerald and crystal so low! These games are amazing!!
Just got to the Emerald ranking at 44 - wtf 😭
Amazing video though 😄👏
I don't know how much of an unpopular opinion it is but i just finished playing pokemon ranger for the first time and it's mediocre at best: it's barely a game. At least completing the pokedex is more enjoyablethan the main games.
Yellow was my first go of it back when it came out, gba sp in my pocket right now grinding out emerald, good times. Thanks for the vids kids!
I appreciate you guys ranking the mainline games separately. As a VERY DISTANT fan, I never got why they chose to do this; other than MONEY 😂
I remember loving Pokemon Rumble. It felt like the type of arcade games I liked to play when I was kid.
Pokémon Go not being ranked higher is a crime. It makes a lot of money still.
Putting Pokemon Ranger Guardian Signs at #1 was a bold move but I respect it
Can we rank every Dragon Ball or Dragon Quest game
I'm surprised that you guys didn't rank the version together. Makes it a little more complicated for me
Literally everyone else does.
Yakuza like a dragon from worst to best
They clearly just went by metacritic score, because how in the hell is pokemon art academy better than ScarVi
